Oh that game was class! "Dat's McClaine!" :D Cool how you could shoot construction stuff down on top of them on every level. Has that even been done in a game since???

Oh yeah the Hitman trilogy would be a great one!

Die Hard Trilogy was released on the PC. A re-release would be great but it'd probably only be a download.

Was that the one where you could run people over in the car and the windscreen wipers would come on to wipe off the blood?

Well if it is then yes.:D

It was. I suspect Die Hard Trilogy will have aged badly at this stage though! It wasn't the prettiest game and the controls were a bit off. And Die Hard isn't a trilogy any more!

Metal Gear Solid was essentially remade for the Gamecube as Twin Snakes but that game's forever lost as it's now a "rarity".

You aren't missing anything. It looks way better but adding the first person aiming to the game ruins a lot of the boss fights and over the top cutscenes are beyond retarded, even worse than the tripe in MGS4. Some of the voice actor changes are jarring particularly Mei Ling with an american accent. The original remaind the best game.

I think it's best to say it's an acquired taste. I thought the new cutscenes were fabulously entertaining, filled with OTT choreography (the missile jump! the karate-kicked masonry!) and much better graphics. They brought in Ryuhei Kitamura (Director of Versus, Azumi, Midnight Meat Train) to redo the scenes and imo they add in extra layer of professionalism in the editing suite Kojima could do with for the rest of the series, esp. MGS4. Plus the new additions to the gameplay brought it in line with the rest of the series.

Still if you think the original was perfect, any change at all will be bad news so it depends what you want really, nostalgia and all that. :D

I was playing the game as my friend watched and came to the missile jump cutscene. After he saw that he said out loud 'that's the stupidest thing I've ever seen in my life'. I had to agree with it. If you saw that in a film you'd walk out of the theatre.

Just saw it on youtube, ridiculous its like some crap you'd see in Escape from L.A or Batman & Roblin. It makes me glad I never played that one

How does MGS 2 and 3 look on people HDTVs these days?

I think only MGS1 would need the major overhaul.

yeah t'was. and in the options you could change the amount of blood that exploded out of people when you shot them.
Always had it on full :D

MGS 2 and 3 are actually really blocky due to no anti aliasing at all and don't look great. However add anti aliasing and up the res and I'd say they would look fine.

Just thought of another one, Medal of Honour: Frontline. The best gameplay of any WW2 games ive played. Boost the graphics to HD, man id be in heaven!

Go back and play it now, it's awful. Also it wasn't particularly good when it was released. MoH: AA was released on the PC a few weeks beforehand by the same guys that went on to make Call of Duty and it was infinitely better.

Oh sure if you take it seriously, but it looks epic with the explosion behind him as he fires a rocket in mid-air! Both those films are piss-takes though at least you have to imagine that was their aim with Batman and Robin (even if it didn't work). Kinda like how some films are so bad-it's-good only this is so ridiculous-it's-hilarious. The action scenes in MGS4 were just as ridiculous if not more so, especially when Raiden takes on the Gekko.

It's actually really hard to find many others worthy of remastering, most of the successful games have sequels that surpass the originals in every way making them almost redundant - Burnout 3, Fahrenheit, Timesplitters, Midnight Club 2, etc. Other originals were multi-format so the PC trick can be used on them too, like Beyond Good and Evil and Psychonauts.

The action cut scenes didn't make it ****, the dull boring ones, Drebin and his belching monkey and a load of nonsense they put in to make the ridiculous cut scenes "make sense" did. They should have just left them as it was, unexplained. The series already has someone's grafted arm taking over their personality and a load of other OTT action in the rest of the series so reality was never a factor.

I would like to see XGRA in 1080p.

1 of the best looking games on PS2 I think.

I've played both and i thought Frontline was the better game.

I suppose you think Matrix Revolutions was way better than the original film too?
Didn't play much of Frontline, but what I did play felt like a watered down console version of AA... Can't really imagine it has aged very well at all!
I sold my copy of Twin Snakes for £45 earlier in the year... Kind of wish I'd held on to it for a few more years to see how ludicrous the asking prices went:pac:

There was some spa on ebay with all the MGS games on PS2 and Twin Snakes with a buy it now of about £400 I think it was.

Ridiculous price for that, the funniest thing about that advert is "Dispatched from and sold by games4lessuk". Games for less than what exactly? Back to the topic at hand though, I'd love to see PS3 remakes of GTA Vice City & San Andreas, Final Fantasy 7, 8 & 9, Resident Evil 1 & 2, Abe's Odyssey, and Die Hard Trilogy. And a psn version of Flimbo's Quest!

ICO/SotC HD = the greatest thing ever - hope they fix the occasional frame rate problems with SotC then it would be perfect
