New layout SB on M1 from the weekend approaching J4. Traffic moved over one lane.

Alot of cleaning work going on along the sides of the road. Hopefully the completion of this is nearing

There was a lot of work on the malahide/swords roundabout at Lissenhall last night. They had the roads closed off and looked to be putting the final layers of road down as well as hanging some overhead traffic lights. They also seem to have planted trees and cleared the rubble from the roundabouts so perhaps they are getting close to completion.

The SB road from past the estuary bridge looks to be finished and marked so hopefully that will open soon.

Drove out and back to Rush last Sunday and while the mainline seems to be progressing quite well there still seemed to be a lot of finishing work required on Junction 4.

I know I should just look back and find the post but can anybody remind me when this is (was) supposed to be finished?

Junctions work where due to be finished by the end of April - still ongoing.....

Mainline works due to finish this month.....

Drove northbound on the R132 from Swords towards Skerries this morning. Looks like they have been progressing the wearing course and lining on the interchange the last few nights. There are now 3 lanes open going through the junction. So now you have two lanes that can go onto the M1 northbound slip towards Belfast coming from Swords...and when you are heading through on the old M1 towards Skerries there is now a dedicated right turn lane for Donabate so the two straight through lanes dont get blocked up.. should make a big difference.

Good stuff. A little late but I suppose the exceptionally cold weather we've had over the last few months may have delayed certain aspects of this. Can't wait until its completed as I think this will make quite a difference to traffic. Hopefully over the next few years they could extend it as far as Balbriggan after which traffic seems to tail off significantly

It'll be awkward rebuilding the route through Lissenhall after they put a concrete median through the junction, preventing the easy build of a lane in the median space

Probably not much work to remove the concrete median?

The mainline will have to be reduced to 1 lane or closed to do it, there's all the fill in the median to be removed also. It seems completely unnecessary work too, as there was 2 lanes and hs through under the bridge and all needed was to widen the exit slip N/B

There were still no studs or cateyes southbound yesterday morning.

Are temporary speed limits published in iris oifiguil? Have they been extended or were they to continue this long anyway?

Can't see this project finished by the end of May, unless we see a surge in activity.

    May?

Never mind May, end of 2013, if we are lucky.

How has this been allowed to run on for so long? Weather may be an excuse for some of it but this has already gone on way longer than it should have even before the latest cold snap. Was this not due for completion originally last November? It always seems like there is minimal activity on the road. Surely they should be going all out to get this complete or is it a ploy to keep people working and off the live register. Sick of it!!

R132 SB after the junction going towards Swords now has all lanes open, one very small step closer to the end.....

Up on the overhead junction a lot of the new 3 lanes are now in use and marked, has anybody else noticed how narrow these are? Particularly when changing direction. There is no way a truck/van/bus can stay within these lines while negotiating all the various turns for the different roundabouts.

They are back in numbers on the mainline again for the past 2 days. They are working on laying the final bits of wearing course SB. There's still bits of digging / building service chambers in the hardshoulders though.

There's also wearing course to be laid NB although i did see them cleaning that yesterday so they will probably complete that work now also.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,779 ✭✭✭Carawaystick

Yesterday at midday, the wearing course was fully laid nb to the malahide road bridge, but not marked hs/lane 1 broken white line
Then a strip where the hs will be was to be laid as far as the estuary viaduct

The slip lane through the old rab for m1s->r132s opened on Wednesday

I've noticed the signposts are all mounted higher than usual, well above sight lines, and hidden behind other street furniture - both the new style no entry signs and the pedestrian/ cycling signs are placed at the height of traffic lights
Saw new no entry signs placed up high in Loughrea also, maybe it's in the tam spec, but doesn't look right

Just passed northbound on the m1
They are laying tar mac just over the bridge before junction 4.
And they are painting lines on the southbound Lane s

Line painting took place last night in the instead lanes on both sides of the carriageway and there is tar laying machines in the lay by at J4.

I wonder will they merge the lanes in over the BH weekend and after it we may have some free-flowing traffic. But we probably wont see the benefit of the upgrade until September

Double yellows line here, so no parking!!!!!!

It's wide enough to add another two lanes!

I was on the M1 South to R132 South Slip today and along with the straight through configuration at the Southern Roundabout thereafter, it is very efficient. The lanes on the flyover seem very narrow however. That said, this layout should work a lot better than the previous one IMO.

3 lanes are ready from the J4 SB on ramp, ramp not completed yet though. Hopefully they will be opened soon

    new here
    curious about the planning
all lanes on roundabout from Lusk to M1 southbound seem complete and open but lead into unfinished downramp

    also wonder if anybody will ever use the pedestrian / cycle underpasses;
    they seem so extravagant

M1 NB mainline resurfaced over Friday night just at J4...slip road from M1 NB to R132 was also finished earlier in the week. Lots of stud fitting left to do.

The diversion on the M1 on Friday was...interesting. Off at J4 to R132 SB to first Swords roundabout and then back NB onto the M1 again. Lots of queues on M1 from J2, then queues on R132 as people tried to make u-turns (not all of them in legitimate turning places)...how there wasn't an accident is beyond me!

Sure it'll be be worth it when it's done!
