[CoD Black Ops] News and Discussion

Hey guys,

I was playing Black Ops on Xbox Live last night and I got a message from someone asking me to play Black Ops with them (you know the message that pops up "......wants to play Black Ops") I can't remember the name of the person. I got this message twice in the space of a minute or two. Anyway, they were not one of my friends and I can't remember meeting them in any lobby last night so I went on and checked their profile to see if we had any friends in common or if I new them but when I went to check his friends list or bio it comes up that the service is not available and down on the bottom of their profile it says that they are offline but at the same time it says that they are playing team deathmatch.

The game invite disappears straight away(I'm not sure if this happens anyway) because I tried to find them again last night to see what they were up to.

This happened once or twice in MW2 and I was'nt able to check out their profile either that time.

Any Ideas? Or was it just someone randomly checking to play a game.

happens me all the time on ps3 i never looked into it as much as you have but sounds strange alri

Its their privacy settings , probably a previously played player , i often go to my previously played players and invite them if i'm trying to fill a room.

Profile was on private so you cannot see their bio, friends, or when they are online/offline.
The invite disappeared when the lobby was unavailable, or they entered a match.

They prob met you in match at some point be in the last 10 mins or three days ago, you were in their recent players list. People send out these invites when they are sitting a lobby and the system is taking it's time to "balance out teams".

I JUST KILLED 14 ****ERS BEFORE DYING! Delighted, died three times in that game too =]

I joined a game midway through too and I killed my first Boardsie... RochieIRL! Lost miserably though :pac:

haha, well I promise you, you wont get that lucky every time.

btw, it doesn't always improve them either. I swapped out a Sam Turret the other day (ffa with very little air support) and got ammo :rolleyes:

Got em twice last night from a CP, gotten them a few times before that also. Plus they suck IMO, easy to kill dogs coming at you.

If you have hardline pro you can convert ammo drops.

Dogs are easy to take out if you just let them lose, I build my killstreaks, I unleash the dogs, quickly followed by chopper gunner, People are more likely to be taken down by dogs if they're running from the chopper/ looking up to try take it down, then if my chopper gets taken out i call in the cobra.

one of my first CP was the "attack dogs" .. havent gotten them since in a CP ..
everything is either Spy Plane or Counter Spyplane .... last night the CP killed me when it bouced off a concrete tunnel and landed on me ... must upload the video .. as i thought CP couldnt kill you?

Played 4 games there last night. Through mainly sniping(ok there were about 10 CG kills too) with the 1st(and only?) bolt action sniper, I went 19 and 1 in my first game on Villa. Had to campproperly snipe though to do it but it was fun.

Getting to grips a bit more with sniping now. Really should buy the yolk that picks up movement within a certain radius or a claymore or at least to protect myself.

Still, till they make it one shot kill from upper chest to head I still can't see myself using the sniper regularly.

The 'connection interupted' message is really starting to annoy me. All my games dropped this morning. And played a wager match, plenty of boosters/campers on it, lost loads. Won't be playing it again.

Swapped to a fn fal agog+surpressor. I get a 1 hit kill, I can hit the same distance as a sniper rifle with only slightly worse visibility with less recoil plus i can scope in for as long as I like without moving of the scope.

Apparently only snipers breathe in cod.

The game is entirely anti sniping that is most clear since news of all this nerfing sniping was announced. I'm not entirely fussed about quickscoping. Just the hitmarkers especially when it's head shot.

FAL is my favorite gun in the game along with the AK's. Always liked semi auto guns bar the M14. Stick a reflex sight or a red dot sight on it and it's awesome. Haven't used ACOG in this game(bar perhaps campaign) but I despised it in all the COD games since MW1 so it's of no use to me.

When playing the gun game I find it impossibly hard to get kills with the sniper rifles..

Just to say my comment was more in frustration with gun game as that(as well as the crossbow) I was appalling with. But after giving sniping a proper chance during the weekend. I think in future gun games it won't be a problem for me anymore, well not to the degree it was before.

Hitmarkers are the only real problem I have now. One this weekend in particular(from 3-5ft at upper chest!) had me raging quitting instantly and stop playing for a while :pac:

Guys I'm gonna trade in Red Dead Redemption (Just got into Mexico but actually bored to tears) and get Black Ops this week. Where'd be the best place to do that?

I think HMV or Xtra Game will give ya the best value tbf, best getting in touch with the main gaming stores - game, smyths, gamestop and the two mention above. They'll give you a general price if the condition of the game is very good.

Read this on the callofduty.com forums, seems Treyarch are coming down hard on boosters, glitchers and people making offensive emblems:

Modders

Boosters
Users who organize to exploit the game for the explicit purpose of ranking up very quickly or to appear in a high position on the leaderboards.

* • Minor offense: Temp ban, complete stats reset, leaderboard entries removed once
* • Major offense: Temp ban, complete stats reset, permanent ban from appearing on the leaderboards
* • Extreme or repeat offenses: Permaban from playing the game online


Glitchers

well lets hope they stick to their word, every second emblem is of a nazi symbol or a penis shooting its load on something lol, its quite funny but i understand their are younger audiences (which should not be playing an 18 rated game in the first place) but i have not come across any outside of map cheaters...yet!! they need to do something about the stupid spawn traps tho.

I'm starting to get into this game and liking it apart from the insane knife (knife > machine gun) attacks but what is up with the spawn points? I keep spawning in front of enemies, it just seems really really badly implemented and when it happens 3 or 4 times in a row it is absolutely infuriating.

If there are multiple enemies in one area, can the game just not spawn you there? Surely that's not too much to ask for in a modern multiplayer game?

You do realise that the swastika has many other meanings, most of which pre-date the Nazis and some of which have important cultural standing, its quite important in many eastern religions for example (In fact, attempts to have it banned in the EU were dropped after protests from Hindu's) and like a lot of other Nazi symbols, is also tied to celtic history.
