rc cars have been around since the 60s, isnt the game set between 1960 and 2010? maybe the killstreaks take the entire timeline of the game into effect. and ballistic knives were around back in the 80s, thats when they were banned.

Yeah but were RC cars routinely used in warfare in Vietnam? Also, didn't realise that the game timeline was so huge. That's a bummer too. I really want a Vietnam only COD game.

Still ballistic knife I could do without, I guess it's another thing we'll all be moaning about in the Megabitch thread :D

I'm not disputing the realism of an RC Car which can blow up. What I am disputing is its suitability in an adult game trying to depict real-life warfare. Granted, it will never be perfect, but to me, the idea is laughable and "bottom-of-the-barrell" stuff.

I'm sure there will be others thinking - what about Commando? You're pushing an open door on this. All I am saying is its more suited to James f'n Bond than an army officer on the field. For the record, if I see even a team-mate of mine, taking out the remote control and driving one of these, I will follow him the entire game shooting away so that he can be located by the other side. Its fookin redonkulous!

Incidentally, I think that idea is completely different to the predator missile; you can call in an airstrike with an exact location and that is for all intents and purposes what the predator is. Rather than seeing your guy checking a map and radioing in the co-ordinates, its simply demonstrated by a laptop. I have absolutely no problem with that.

I'm not sure whether it's to go up to 2010 or not, but certainly it's meant to start post WW2 and go up to recent times. Originally it was rumoured to be purely Vietnam, but it's been confirmed since to be more wide-ranging than that.

I'm pretty sure that everyone will try it and I think it looks kind of fun. This reaction seems a bit OTT.

I would wonder about it being so early a killstreak though... Only 3 kills to basically get a Predator-lite? I guess because it's not airborne, you're much more restricted in where you can use it, (will it be able to go up steps?) but still seems a bit "overpowered" for that level. But then again, since killstreak rewards are not meant to build your killstreak, it mightn't be as big a problem...

Overall, it looks fun from what I've seen. I'll be interested to try it out, so hope they do release a beta.

I wonder can you shoot it and it won't be able to explode, maybe it's impact detonation rather than remote detonation.

i did not look like it killed the 2 it hit in the video either. might not be too powerful and not a whole lot of use either. still at least they are trying new things.

looking forward to seeing more of the multiplayer action in september.

I'm pretty sure you'll be able to shoot it, kind of like the dogs from WAW. Interesting to know whether it's impact or remote detonation. My initial guess would have been impact, but maybe not... wouldn't it have blown up on impact with the window??

Good point. Maybe! it has bullets that shot the glass, and didn't impact the glass.

Its fair enough if you think its an over-reaction, but in my view my reaction is directly proportional to how appropriate this is in a game. You wouldn't even find it in Splinter feckin Cell! I give stick to anyone of my team-mates excessively noob-tubing, or Commando pro-ing all over the map - so if nothing I must be consistent ;)

Anyhoo, consider the predator, the other team are given a warning, they have about 3-5 seconds to get indoors. You can (it would appear) drive this thing around and park it up someone's jaxy? There might be a time constraint until detonation, but still - seriously - a remote controlled car ffs

I guess the biggest problem I have is that in GTA2 (I think) one of the Kill Frenzy's was using a remote control bomb car to blow up targets. GTA2 was a 'fun' game though with lots of OTT ridiculous humour. COD is not supposed to be lie that at all and I just think it doesn't suit the game at all. Each to their own and I'll probably try it myself (:pac:) but it's taking away from the gritty nature of the game that was so prevalent, particularly in COD4.

I think if you look at the premis of the gaem itself things like the RC car seem to make a little more sense...

Its really telling the story of the birth of black operations globally as a dedictated branch of individual nations forces. In the very begining they were rag tag indeed. They took the army handbooks and did away with them, they tried to be totally unconventional in a lot of ways. Things like jerry rigging every day objects or normal issue items in the service was common place for them.

Basic rule of thumb was if it worked ... it WORKED! and thats all that mattered. The easy example to remeber is from saving private ryan, in field invention was common place... sticky bombs, socks in axle grease to stick to tanks worked well and were used a lot, things like using rilfe fired barrel grenades stuck off the ground then thrown worked just as well as regular ones and so on. Black ops operators took this idea of on field invention and ran with it to great effect.

Look up some of the old spec ops stories and some things they came up with are just hilarious. They werent issued standard kit and were basically allowed keep their own appearence along with whatever kit they chose.

RC car with semtex on seems to fall in line with the early days black ops ethose.

Yeah it seemed to stun them if anything.

So you're saying some bloke brought a RC car with him? Or perhaps he stopped by a toy shop on his way and bought some supplies for his day's killings? ;)

Why don't they just rename it - Call Of Duty - McGyver edition!

:D:D more like too many special forces history books do!

But the whole mentality of field improvisation was nurtured and really worked well. Now dont get me wrong I am not so sure on things like rc car bombs in fps games though! I just think its a step too far.

Looks class. Love the remote control car thingy.

I hope their is more teamwork involved than in MW2. Plenty of CQB. Blend MW2 with TC Vegas games would be class.

I'm not sure how I feel about the RC car, normally these things that seem silly might seem like it makes sense after you play the single player campaign. It's inclusion in the the multiplayer might seem perfectly reasonable if the single player campaign includes it at some point.

Being that MW2 is the biggest selling game ever they'd be completely nuts to make something thats completely different from it. theres a gigantic fanbase that want the same but different, this is it.

They should make it a text based RPG adventure game. It's a game with guns, and people using said guns to shoot each other. How different are people expecting it to be? What do they actually want that's different?

You can never please everyone, most people were delighted with MW2, but knowing anything or everything can be changed makes them think what they personally would like to tweek a little bit. I don't like the fact that people can no-scope because it's unrealistic, but alot of people love the fact that they can do it, so right there is a conflict of interest. What I'm trying to say is that there will always be bitches. :P

I'm looking forward to actually getting the game at the same time as others, so others aren't miles ahead of me in relation to knowledge of the maps/game itself.

Having said that, MW2 is the first multi-player I've played, so I'm behind in terms of experience to those who played the series on-line before.

If the new game is pants, so be it. MW2 will be the fall-back position, to use a military phrase ;)

I'd be happy if its a more tightly constrained version of MW2 tbh, no bullsh1t perks (although theres bound to be one that people dont like or is abused) if its a good shooter and the kids dont like it and stick with MW2 then everyone wins. I love how the levels do stuff, that was in COD4 like the cool one at the missile silo where the doors opened in the ground, the rocket taking off is nifty. Itd be cool if there was background animation off the map that made it look like theres a war going on, nearly every map in MW2 has distant firefight sound effects without you being able to see anything.
