Got it in the Irish Whiskey shop on Dawson street, but it should be around in the usual good off licenses.

Tonight I'm having a couple of Schneider Weisse Tap 7 and for dessert a White Gypsy Russian Imperial Stout really looking forward to that one.

Anyone tried the stout yet ?

    Thanks mate.

Don't know how I missed it at the beerfest must have been the sunstroke.

I've had the White Gypsy Imperial Stout at the beerfest and it was fantastic.
Would love to pick up a bottle for consumption at home.

Needed a hit of bitter so went with St. Austell HSD. Typical bitter slightly sweet taste but not too much.

I have to admit I do like most St Austell beers and this is another to add to my list.

I picked mine up at the Carry Out in Tyrellstown.

Only had a small taster of the White Gypsy Imperial Stout at the beerfest but really liked it. At the time they said it would be a month or two before it was out so probably means about now. Will have to ask my local to see if they can get it in.

They have it in drinkstore. 1 litre bottles. 7.99. Strange bottle size for such a big beer.

My one is 750ml which is still plenty big enough for a beer of its type.

In fact it's the very reason I didn't drink it last night as I had to be up early this morning and it would have been too late to crack it open.

Definitely going to get stuck in tonight though.

I picked one up in Drinkstore too, although I think it's only 750ml.

I thought it was a pretty normal enough size though. especially when you consider Black Ops (10.7%) and Goose Island Bourbon County Vanilla Stout (13%) both come in 750ml & 650ml bottles respectively. I have a bottle of the Black Ops that I haven't tried yet, and the Goose Island I drank over the course of a weekend, and beautiful it was too. :)

    Yes, my mistake.

As you say others do similar sizes, I'd prefer if it was a size that I would be happy to drink by myself. i.e. 330ml.

I think the big bottle is about image, to make it look like something exclusive.

It could be argued that 14% wine comes in a 750ml bottle but I tend to get tired of a big heavy beer in anything larger than a half pint serving.

Quite the opposite, I think. It's meant for sharing, like wine. His original idea was to pitch it at restaurants, but there's no reason sharing a bottle of strong beer wouldn't work at home or in the pub too.

I went to McHughs after work and got:
    Left Hand Stranger Pale Ale
    Shepherd Neame IPA
    Creans Lager
    Sharps Chalkys Bite
    Bellerose Blonde
    Estaminet Pils
    Mikkeller Coffee IPA

I see Shepherd Neame have finally stopped using the clear bottles. The new bottles and labels look way nicer.

Had a few Flying Dog In de Wildeman Farmhouse IPA tonight. It was very tasty. Had a lovely IPA grapefruit, citrus flavour but with a nice light hit of (almost Belgian) spice underneath.

Have to say I really liked it but think it's a slightly dangerous beer. It really didn't taste like a 7.5% beer and I think I could easily drink too many of them

What was the left hand like?
I'm drinking the left hand milk stout at the moment and its great

Currently sipping a Trouble Pumpkin Brew. Tastes like some sort of filtered spiced wheat beer. Not to my tastes to be honest but its interesting. Worth a try.

Do you find it tastes a little stronger then 4.7%?

Svijanský Máz 11° disgusting beer to be honest. Quite watery and bland. Slightly bitter aftertaste but not the kind I like.
Will make sure I avoid this in future.

Been to Aldi today and they have Arcobräu Winterbier.
Not bad at all. Dark blond/light brown in colour, 5.5% and a nice aley taste (but fizzy, not flat) with strong hops and slight caramel flavour.

    Not bad at all...

Ooh, I like the Arcobrau Dunkel, they had it in Tesco.

Going to pick some of this up tomorrow

After a fine selection of British ales and porter on cask in the Euston Tap pub in London at the moment I find the barman has no fecking corkscrew behind the bar to serve me a Cantillon Geuze this evening to finish up on. Gutted isn't the word!!

Erm, no, I didn't notice that, but I did feel like it was a lot like their saison with pumpkin spire added, upon reflection!

In the city centre go to Beer Museum or upstairs in U Medvídků. There's a Kocour tap in Tlustá Koala, though it's not a great pub, TBH. The real gems, IMO, are Zlý Časy, Pivovarsky Klub and Strahov: well worth making a little bit of a trip for.
