When you're behind Scott Deasy, its time to move on....

Deasy wouldn't be as bad if he had a McFadden taking his kicks, but I don't think he's going to be any sort of answer. It's a mystery that Deasy still takes the kicks when Hanrahan is on the pitch. (and Hanrahan isn't all that good either)

Off topic lads but whatever happened to John O'Sullivan, a regular in 09 starting a few HC games, I heard at the time he left rugby but anyone know is he involved at all at any level now, he wasnt that old if I remember correctly.

Didnt he go to France? He was my MOTM for Connacht against Munster in Athlone a few years back on a very wet and windy night that produced only one score, a penalty for Munster.

Edit: Amazo got in before me.
He went to Aegen in France & has retired, his brother was on the Munster junior team that beat Leinster at the weekend

Has a player ever made it up from Junior level to pro level in Ireland? Surely someone must have? Quinny and Hayes maybe? Anyone recently?

Quinny went from playing with clan and making irish youths to playing u20s and then AIL with Shannon
Think Quinny only played underage with clan so wouldnt have played with munster juniors
Hayes played a few games with Bruff who were a junior club at the time but almost immediately moved to play with Shannon so wouldnt have played with juniors.
Quite a few players have became pros after starting in junior clubs but im fairly sure no-one has made it as a pro after playing with munster juniors as most will have moved to senior clubs at 18,19,20 before they made the juniors

Yeah, it'd be unusual but you'd think there would be one or two, props maybe. SOB is probably the closest, did he ever play much AIL?

He did and played with them until after he made irish youths when he was 18. He then moved to Lansdowne

A good few players would have come through youths, I wondering if any adults every made it up the divisions. Jerry Cronin in Ulster?

    Cronin would be one
This is a quote from cronins profile on Ulster website
"He made his senior debut against Munster in October 2010 at the age of 26 after a number of good seasons with Ballynahinch"

Ballynahinch is a senior club, isn't he asking for players that came from junior clubs?

I think when Andy Ward got capped for Ireland he was playing for them in AIL Div 2 or 3.

I know Ian Dowling played for Shannon but I'd imagine he must have played for a Junior club before them.

He started off in Kilkenny but would have played for Shannon for a bit before getting to Munster.

id say he could have played with kilkenny rfc

Dowling played league at some stage too.

Real pity when you think of guys like Barry Murphy and Dowling, both must only be pushing 30 now. Munster really have had an awful run of injuries over the past few seasons, if you include the injuries to Jones, O'Connell, Leamy, Flannery, Wallace, Howlett, Horan etc.

Geordan Murphy played for Waterpark, were they Junior? Naas could have been junior the year he was there, they were down for a little while.

While Dutchy Holland played for Munster he was with Middleton, were they a junior club then?

Interesting posts from a guy who's usually in the know on munsterfans. Seems Penney was looking pretty certain up till yesterday and big changes behind the scenes.

"Been a while since I was last on this site, forgot passwords and email account details and to was just hassle to get them, many thanks to scotsor for sorting that out for me. All a bit disheartening regards players leaving etc. but whatever about this year being a transition period from here it is a rebuilding period!!

I haven’t looked through the site and most of the threads so if this is all posted all ready then apologies

Going to be all change obviously with tony mcghan gone. It now looks like foley and umanga with umanga looking after the backs. umanga was over and introduced around recently. Everyone was saying this guy penney was getting and up untill today that is what I was being told. So it would be a penney, foley, umanga ticket. but did a google the guy and see what comes up. he says he is staying put To be honest the players don’t even know who is coming in until the last minute in regards coaches or players so take your pick what the makeup will be!!. http://www.allblacks.com/news/19232/...by-commitments
    http://www.odt.co.nz/sport/rugby/207...ch-made-heaven
Sean Payne is apparently gone they think Niall O Donnovan will be coming in although again that is what they think rather than official.
Holland looks like he is gone as well although no one knew if it was is official or not……. also joey the ozzy fitness coaches (who the players rate highly) is gone.
Also looks like more retirement’s to come im afraid. Don’t ask who as out of respect u just dont say
When you look at who has gone in the last 12 mnths, hayes, flannery, warick, mick o, mafi, TOL, and more to come that’s a lot of guys who have been around for a while from the senior first team squad It also seems like a lot is going on in the set up right now I would think more changes to come"

How reliable is this source because if he is usually reliable then this is very bleak reading.

I always figured we were in for a difficult 12-24 months in rebuilding the squad but this reads like a club in a deeper internal crisis than we were lead to believe.

That source has very good inside contacts but his conclusions here are based on a NZ article which is wrong and not on any inside info'. MR have done a surprisingly good job at keeping schtum on this one.
Penney will be unveiled as the new HC tomorrow in Cork.

I don't know how to see it tbh, it could be that they've decided to go with young guys and build from there, which might be no bad thing. The Penney thing is strange though, if the players thought it was Penney, maybe he decided to not move rather Munster not wanting him?

Well according to a poster above Penney will be announced tomorrow! Maybe some people are just taking a lead from a misinformed kiwi journalist

The "Penney's Finest" banners for the stadium have already been commisioned! :D
