On the positive side it clears the way somewhat for the likes of Nagle.

Its impact on Munster may be lessened somewhat if as expected next season DOC isnt in the Irish 22. Munster have been lucky to have such a solid player at their disposal when their top 3 2nd rows have been away.

MOD will be a serious loss

One of the unsung heroes of Munster rugby

Tremendous professional and a very good if not brilliant player who comes in for a lot of unfair stick, bit like Paddy Wallace

Wish him all the best in the future

Great post, would echo all of that.

Such an underrated player. Probably the best Irish player in the magners league in 2009.

Shame he's retiring so young, the rules really prevent him going back to France where he could thrive.

Bit of an unusual one, it's not that he's so old that he's got one foot in the grave. Only about 6 months older than DOC or POC. And it's not like he's slowing down either, he's been in great form this season in my view.
There was an announcement of contracts last month, Borlase & Horan got 1 year extensions & there was no mention of MOD, so I think its likely he shall retire

Why the FÚCK is Borlase getting a contract extension? JC, this is worse than all the effort wasted on Buckley

No mention of Borlase getting a contract extension.
Johne Murphy, Duncan Williams, John Ryan, Marcus Horan and Sean Scanlon have all signed contract extensions for Munster.

Why is Horan getting an extension to his contract??

I have no idea, asked the exact same question in another thread:
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=77671433&postcount=52

The response was that it was down to the lack of younger guys available, but surely it is better to have a young guy making calamitous errors but maybe having the potential to improve, than to have an old guy making calamitous errors and just waiting out his contract?

Aside from his scrummaging, Horan is a liability when it comes to giving away penalties and it was 100% his fault that Glasgow nabbed a losing BP on Saturday.

    Poor aul Dave Kilcoyne

Dave "killer" Kilcoyne scored another try this weekend, he's someone who needs to be brought through. Actually, he's someone who needs to be sent to a scrum camp run by Feek for the summer.

He was shipped to Connacht & recalled quickly h added to the HC squad. He's a project player & with MOD in his twilight, DOC too, so many injuries, I would think he stats next year. But you're correct, I don't think a contract has been announced yet

    Borlase is a prop?

A piss poor one at that hardly a project player either

Borlase isn't a poor prop, he's just not a very good one, from what I've seen. Still, put in a great shift against Leinster A, we won a few scrum penalties when he came on and was seriously "tenacious" in the loose.

maybe a bit harsh but in retrospect he's been an awful signing

He wasn't brought over from Munster A

When i hear something like "seriously tenacious in the loose" i automatically think that he has major weaknesses in the scum dpt; Healy being an exception to the rule.

By tenacious I presume he means that he spent a lot of his time picking as many fights as possible while he was on the field.

Exactly. I imagine the leinster supporters have a pretty dim view of him now but he certainly isn't afraid of a small bit of niggle.

I'd bet the Ulster and Conn supporters would also agree that he's not the best scrummager to ever grace a Munster jersey.

your missing my point; the original post i quoted mentioned that all Leinster supporters must have a dim view of his scrummaging.

My point being most Irish rugby watching people will have a dim view on his scrummaging not just Leinster supporters.

And i have no idea if he ever played against Ulster btw

Sorry, you misunderstood me, Leinster supporters won't like him because he spent his 40 or so minutes on pitch trying to start a fight with whoever was nearest him in a blue jersey. tbf, a few leinster guys were game for it too.

You're right it was 2 years ago.

In Fairness I did hear someone saying that Nagle was Lions material alright...but it was Frankie Sheehan who is his AGENT and would do anything to build his profile.
It is not really on that Frankie gets this time on TV to big up his own guys so much

Fairly self evident that he isn't very good so.

    Borlase?

Was injured, once recovered from injury was loaned to Connacht, played one Pro12 game there, returned from Connacht in time for the Munster A. Depending on how you read the rules of the Pro12 you could read it as he being club tied, so that doesn't give him much chance of playing with Munster this season.
