Mmmmm. Now I'm not too sure as to where to suggest.

    I'd say Doyle's but it's always jammers.

Fcuk it, Eddie Rockets. Pitchers of Heineken for a tenner apparently.

    Or The Woolshed?

I was in Doyles (So were you if I remember) at a TLL beers... It stank.. I'd prefer if it wasn't there...

Won't be attending this one but for future reference may I suggest the Bull & Castle in Christchurch. Used to be an awful ****ehole when it was the Castle Inn but was taken over by FXB's a few years back. It's now a 'Gastro Pub' but also specialises in 'World Beers', i.e. they stock more than just Bud and Carlsberg. They have a Brauhaus style beerhall upstairs with 'ambient dj' (not in your face so you can talk but still throw a few shapes if ya like). Do platters of finger food if wanted (tasty stuff - not the usual muck) and have a decent enough cocktail menu too. Not pretentious at all either! Only thing lacking is a decent smoking area.

Think it would suit perfect! (No I don't work there BTW)

What about the Australian bar, the wolly something or other? Not sure about platters, but I remember it being a decent spot.

Apart from the dandeloin (kip) that's the only pub I have been to that I can remember, in Dublin in years.

Anywhere that's cheap and not too noisey is good for me :)

Yeah, during matches they are very popular as it saves carrying pints through the crowd.

    Loads of space there to.

It's too cheap though and Saturdays it does be packed.

Any chance of a poll yet....? Surely there's been enough suggestions at this stage and if we DO have to book a different venue then there's just over 2 weeks, so we kinda should get cracking!

I think TGC or the Noctural Folks go to the Bull & Castle sometimes. Might be worth sounding them out to see what it's like. As I understand it, it's not completely terrible.

It's too late for anymore suggestions at this stage.

Cos they don't want riff raff turning up.
There will be a secret code given out the day of the beers to let people know where was picked.

    Not bad.

Capitol throw in a couple of bottles of champagne free of charge for bookings of 20 people or more, the manager gave us three last time.

    Where's my suggestion? :(

I have no idea what any of those places are like to be honest. I think i'll go with a majority vote... if anybody can tell me what that is :P

Are these pubs in the same area? Anybody have a map of the pubs please?

    *EDIT*

Actually, can anybody tell me if any of these pubs do a nice pint of guinness or carlsberg? I know it's an odd question, but nothing worse than going to a pub that sells crappy beer/stout.

The Carlsberg was alright in The capitol last time I was there. After they stopped with 5 euro cocktails I wasn't paying 8.50! :D

Yeah but the place is horribly expensive..a pint was 5.70 and the price of cocktails rose sharply from a fiver to 12 quid each..of course its worth thier while throwing in a few bottles of bubbly..if they get 20 of us in ther spending 30 quid a head on feck all drinks its quids in for them.
