As above, I am after a rimfire rifle for reasonable money so hopefully I can get back into my sport. Would like to have this sorted before 25th April in time for the NASRPC National Competition :). Thanks.

That's cutting it fine - one month for all the paperwork and licencing.

If it's the NASRPC Gallery Rifle competition you're into, the 10/22 would be a better bet than the CZ452. You'll need a s/a for that rimfire discipline.

    Hey cCorbus,
I know its cutting it fine but if I don't get back to shooting I'm going to go crazy

Competition is for 50 Metre Benchrest Rifle & 50 Metre Sporting (Prone) Rifle I'm told.

    Just throwing out some options.

Jim griffin in Rahan has one or two Match 54 Anschutz .22lr for the same money/or not much more than a new CZ. No scope. Also has some CZ's in stock, scoped and unscoped. 059 7035979

Sean in Stakelums has a few second hand CZ's in .22lr, scoped, for around the €550 mark. Also doing a deal on the Savage MarkII (new) in .22lr, new Swift scope, mounts, rings, gun slip for €625. 0504 21900

Sean in Atlantic Sports in Carlow has a new ruger 10/22. Not sure of price but not too much. Also has a great selection of new and second hand CZ's. 059 9179984

Thanks ezirdax. Not too familiar with the Match 54 and Savage Mark II . Do you recommend them?

This is the Anschutz Match 54 with scope (although most do not come with one)........

Here is the Savage Mark II.

but the model currently available in the package deal is this one........i think...........

There are various models available from the Savage website.

I cannot speak from personal experience with Savage .22lr as i have not fired one. I have seen a few in action and all reports seem to be good.

The anschutz on the other hand is a tack driver. The rifle(s) are old rifles but so accurate that most lads either buy them and restore any stock marks/damage or drop the barrel and action into a newer stock. They are excellent for benchrest and 3P shooting.

I've still got a Match 54 going if your lookin for something in that line :)

Really well cared gun and an ideal stock for benchrest, and a snip at £400!

Its also on the For Sale/Wanted section.

There's your rifle now. Unless you intend doing Gallery rifle, would probably not suit, but for prone and benchrest they are hard to beat.

I take it the image you posted is of a 54 with an after market stock on it?

No, both stocks are/look original, you just had slightly different variations for disciplines and preference. You would also notice changes over the time they were made.

This interweb is starting to p**s me off. Working when it wants.

Anyway. I have seen and shot with 4 lads using these rifles and none of the stocks are the same. They look similar but there are subtle differences. Then there is the work the lads do the rifles themselves (stock modification, butt plates, forend accessories, etc).

Thing is i wouldn't be worried too much about the stock as this can be adjusted to your likings, its the action you want. None better for the money.

    DISCLAIMER

I in no way stand to benefit from any sale/deal done here. Just giving my opinion. My Anschutz is a match 54. So just vouching for the rifle.

The benefit of any anschutz, apart from the fact they are the most accurate .22lr rifle by any stretch of the imagination (without getting to the dizzy heights of bleiker & Co), is the parts are all still available.

The new stocks fit the round action Match 54, same as they do for the sprank new 1913.

Great value for money, and nout better for BR!

OH....and in case you are unsure.......I will benefit from the sale of this one!! :p
