Your a litttle OTT thats not the bulkhead

Its only surface rust on pump and injector casings no big deal !

I agree its not the bulkhead

    BUT

That's alto more than "just" surface rust.

I have seen 5 year old cars with less corrosion. Hell my wife's 10 year old Astra has less corrosion on those areas.

Its surface rust from the vehicle sitting in storage , Modern vehicles engine compartments are generally well insulated with under trays fitted.
When the vehicles are sitting in storage for a considerable lenght of time
the sun shining on the bonnet heats up the engine area it then cools down over night which creates condensation and as generally there is no air circulating around or under the engine and the moisture builds up over time and attacks or attaches to the non protected metal surfaces and creates surface rust which can normally be cleaned off or treatred prior to delivery. Its a common problem for manufacturers and thats why many have nice big plastic covers fitted to hide whats underneath. I agree these photos are unsightly but once the vehicle is in use there will be no problem.

Are the Mondeo's petrol, because if they are they could be in the country since July 2008(maybe even earlier), notice how now that they're all gone Ford no longer offers a petrol Mondeo?

FWIW if I was stupid enough to buy a new petrol Corolla I'd be checking too, the 1.4 hasn't been sold in Europe since the end of 08 but it's still on sale here(i.e. the petrol 1.4 Corollas have been in Ireland since at least the end of 2008 and probably since the middle of 2008, I can't imagine that they ordered more 1.4s when they knew about the VRT changes and have a mountain of them to shift), and they are making a big effort to try and get rid of them this year with free road tax and prize bonds etc, I wonder why:rolleyes:?

I think the OP needs to confirm if these were sold as new cars or were "sold as seen" with a massive discount as he would not have a leg to stand on then.

There is something very wrong with the amount of rust on those cars, no way thats just from sitting around on the docks for 1-2 years. My family home is 100m away from the atlantic ocean and I've never seen rust like that on any of our cars.

They were flood damaged and repaired or something similar.

Thanks everyone for all the interest in this thread. These vehicles were sold as 2010 with no warnings about "surface rust" or "Old stock". They were ordered as new and the first time I saw them they had the number plates on them. No chance at that stage to reject them..... We noticed the rust 1 week after we received delivery.

A friend of mine traded an 08 Corolla for a 2010 one and they couldn't get him one for 6 weeks (1.4 petrol).

In future if you are purchasing a new car from Ford you should get AA to examine it first. :p

After this experience "A New Car from Ford" is not looking like an option ever again... Pity because we already have a number of Ford's in the fleet...
