    Heya photographers

Thanks to the lovely people over at St Patrick's Festival have given me 10 wristbands to a special viewing area allowing photographers close access to taking photos of the parade on Wednesday.

Wristbands are for the vetted viewing area located at the GPO on O’Connell Street, entry via Henry street. This is a secure area which entitles the bearer to this area and allow them to have a front row view of the parade.

These are especially for the Boards.ie photography forum and the like - all I'd like for you to do is make use of them :)

Let me know if you're interested below - first come, first served - though you must have more than 20 posts to apply :)

    Cheers

    Darragh

    Hi guys,

I had one of these wristbands last year and got some very nice photos as a result.

    Recommend.

@Darragh, let me know when you have 10 and I'll move the thread to Expeditions then, okay?

So wishing I was free for this but alas........ *sigh*

Good luck to whomever gets the bands.

Thanks Darragh for bringing it to the forum :)

    Very very interested!
    Great offer

I'd be interested in that, Darragh. If I'm in time, I'd love a wristband to access that area. Great opportunity to get some good pics of things other than the back of heads and a distant strip of green flag.

If theres a wristband free i'd gladly take one :D

    Thanks very much!

A word to the wise for people who get this - you still need to get in early and get your place. Assuming this is the same set-up as the pixie bands last year, it was still pretty packed by the time the parade started and there was a good bit of jostling (and narky parents).

    I'll be studying. Have fun!

He did and I've just after replying to it to outline the above. Try him yourself or failing that show up as me? It seems just your user name is required

Didn't get too many decent photo's. Got there at 11am but I was still 2 from the front and couldn't get a clear view at any of the performers. Will post a few tomorrow.

    Thanks Darragh for the passes.

Lucky bastards. Wish I'd seen this thread a few days/weeks ago.

Fair play Darragh! And congrats to everyone who got in on time. Hope ye had a good time, regardless of how many fantastic or terrible photos you took. :)

Thanks so much Darragh for the passes. Couldn't have gotten the shots I took today without them. Much much appreciated

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,059 ✭✭✭Dara Robinson

Thanks Darragh, was great to have the access. Although next year I am shooting for a proper press pass, none of this "behind the barrier" crap :D

What exactly did the pass do for you guys, out of curiousity?

Allow you on the other side of the railing? Could you just run amuck as you felt? (I doubt it?)

It was to a vetted area with a fixed amount of people, but still there was many parents and kids pushing up for the view.
I was right up at a barrier with Dara Robinson and one2one, and no, we could not run amuck!

Thanks again for the wristband Darragh!
