    On the Late Late tonight:
Boyzone, who will discuss the death of their friend and colleague Stephen Gately and perform their new single, 'Gave It All Away'.

Liz Hurley will be discussing her film career and new venture as a swimwear designer.

Making their live debut on the show will be Crystal Swing, who have become internet sensations with their cover of the country song 'He Drinks Tequila'.

Fcuk knows why, I had to check them out on google to see what they're all about. Brought me back to the horrible nights stuck in a little pub in towns where showbands are still big where some guy with a massive PA stuck in a corner plays every hick song known to man and the crowd love it. Bloody awful.

Some US chat show (Ellen maybe?) tweeted about them, and their popularity exploded.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,418 ✭✭✭Jip

Yeah, I just read that in Ian O'Dohertys column, hence me googling them moments before I saw this thread. I still don't understand why though, is it because to the yanks this is a new fresh sound ?

I wish them all their best in their success but as I said, they sound just like every other C&W troupe you'd see in any village every weekend.

I think the Late Late production team are confused about why Crystal Swing have become a YouTube hit. It's not because people like the music or their act. It's because its so cringeworthingly awful that so many people have watched it. If CS have played this up knowing full well its a joke then fair play to them. They're a lot more business savvy than I thought. I suspect they really are just naive C&I zealots though.

Actually, we did the background on CS family yesterday; genuinely lovely people who appear to get it. The Crystal is from Ms. Gayle.

there is something heartwarming about a brother, sister and mammy lovingly telling the story of a Hispanic lady talking dirty to a drunk, in a trailer park 3000 miles away....

I wonder will social services be keeping an eye on them.. Very, very odd. Derbhla is gorgeous though :-)

By god those guests are slim pickings.

Liz Hurley may have been relevant once upon a time, possibly 1994-95 ish. And how have I not heard of those 'internet sensations?'. I use the internet all the time.... :(

She was popular for the pin dress and dating Hugh Grant

She is a terrible actress imo

I hope Ryan asks her about Hugh and the prossie :D

Yeah, we'll never forgive Hugh for his misdemeanor with the protestant that time.

Yeah, but it's not just the Late Late, every freaking article concerned with them is something referring to Gately. It really is overplayed now.

Looking forward to this thread tonight though. It was comedy gold last week. I'm sure there's bound to be a laugh with Crystal Swing and Boyzone.

That camera work has to be seen to be believed. No wonder the Irish have started winning Oscars.

Were Boyzone not on the Late Late milking their dead freind's death already?

I don't understand how Boyzone and the other ones are on the Late Late so often. They are on every second week. Pat Kenny used to just kiss their asses. Why??? :(

they've been on nearly every show talking about their beloved Steo and Mikey mentioned last week on the LLS how he felt close to him when he was dancing on ice what's the bettin' he mentions that again because mikey only has one story to tell and that's him being on a reality show, although i don't think he should have been booted off as he wasn't that bad at skating and he was robbed in the skate off

When I heard it on radio this morning, I thought they wrote it too and found it really disturbing... Not so bad if it's a cover :o

it's a bit disturbing that the guy is looking at his sister, calling her Rosie "the queen of the trailer park". And then she sings that she wants him to "kiss my body"... I really think social services need to be called in here.

That would not exactly entice me to switch over

More RTE people appearing on other RTE shows

I had never heard of Crystal Swing until I read IOD's column today, they are awful and a terrible disgrace.

Well, as Gaybo used to say "they started on the Late Late Show!" If only the LLS could finish them and do us all a favour!

    "He was like a brudder"

    "Buy our new album"

    "He was like a brudder"

    "Buy our new album"

    etc, etc...

These lads are really disrespecting Stephen's memory by continuously using his death to promote their album. One appearance on a show would have been enough.

I dont understand why they cant let the chap rest in peace.. stop exploiting it for your own benefit.. right he was there "brother" but it just feels wrong..
im prob gonna get bolloxed for it but it feels wrong

How much would the Late Late make from the competitions do ya think? Would 20000 people enter at 1 euro a pop?

Woudl these lads man up and grow a pair, stop milking it ffs

Sad that the only thing i'm looking forward to is crystal swing

I don't know, they have an album to promote. Like every other time they've had an album to promote they'd go on the Late Late Show. They're always going to get asked about him, it's not their fault.

They were always on the Late Late promoting things, no difference this time. Yes they talked about him for the first few minutes but they were asked about him. Now they're talking about other things and what they're up to. Give them a break!

This is the first time i have posted about the late late without steo, ffs give over lads
