Question about prestige

Ok, not sure of the best way to explain this.

Let's say for arguments sake that you hit level 70 at 100K XP, and you get offered the choice to prestige or not, and you decide not to.

Lets say that you if you had prestiged, you get to level 2 at 105K XP.

So, you play on non-prestige for a bit, get to 107K XP and then decide to prestige. Do you automatically level up, or is it only the points you earn after you prestige that count?

i get what your trying to ask but no the more experience you take in to prestiging does not cause you to start at say level 10 you begin again at level 1 with nothing!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,931 ✭✭✭✭Nalz

And only for the Ump45 I'd be proper flucked! Just getting a positive K/D ratio in TDM or FFA will do me to begin with

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 58 ✭✭uggy

Fact, you don't get to "save" XP before prestieging, and use them later.

You start back to a zero (Level 1) and need so much XP before going onto Level 2. Same as starting the game first day, but with a different Badge is all.

cheers lads. A hard decision to make shortly :)

ditto - i just got to level 70 yesterday - 40k XP and i've got to choose

i'm leaning towards re-setting, if only to keep it interesting and to get an additional custom slot

Push that button mate , nothing worse than seeing a rank 70 with 5 stars :D.
You get an extra create a class which i find invaluable , If your unsure about it just do it the once , you'll find yourself playing better at rank one because you feel you have to try a bit harder, the only thing i find a bit unfair is ninja isnt given till 29 , but other than that you have got 2 great guns in the famas and the ump .
    Good luck

push it push it push it push it push it..........no pressure :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,739 ✭✭✭Stuxnet

lol nooooo dont push it, i did and i regret it !! now i just get pwn'd by campers and n00btubes, no ninja or cb for HC....
and i don't play as often any more, so i'm unlocking perks really slowly,
go for it if you have time on your hands and will play regularly, for me i don't, so i'm sorry i prestiged !

I am too, I miss my claymores and AK47!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 58 ✭✭uggy

I always reset when possible. The sooner (if...) I get to 10, I'll get to enjoy the AK forever.

Think I'm around 66/7 after my first prestiege, so hopefully sometime in the next week.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 133 ✭✭noshankus

I did my first prestige last week. At first I regretted it cos I had to use the FAMAS again... but now I'm on level 8 (I think) already after playing for about 3 hours and I find that it's more challenging and you really have to rethink your style again.
It is a good feeling when you kill someone with all the perks/weapons and you're there with the FAMAS though!

The worst part is not having cold blooded, so when air support is called in, you really have no choice but to hide!

It will be the first and last time I do it I'd say. I'm not the greatest at the game. At 4days my k/d is below 1.0 (.84 I think) so I can't afford to do without an ACR / AK or even the SCAR.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,438 ✭✭✭✭El Guapo!

Im only on level 29 so Im a long way off prestige mode but Im just wondering..........What is the point in prestige??
What benefits (if any) are there??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,265 ✭✭✭MiCr0

extra challenges, extra custom slot and some new titles

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,901 ✭✭✭Twilightning

Level 23 6th prestige here, definitely worth it! It's a shame to see all that XP go to waste. What I really want is the 9 Lives title you get at 9th prestige. That and all the extra class slots are really worth having! I'll have 9 when I hit 7th prestige.

SCAR is unlocked at level 8, so you'll get it pretty quick!

I just checked and I unlocked the Vector last night, so I must be at level 12. The Vector is actually pretty damn good. Just a pity about the range, so I wouldn't use it on wasteland, but on the other maps it works great.

Really? The range is pretty bad, so in the open it's not going to do you much good. You must be constantly in the fox holes? =)

If i was you i wouldn't at the moment only because if you are starting the league (as reference in other tread) you won't have all the perks/attachment/guns your used to and would be at a bit of a disadvantage. If your not worried about the league i would prestige at least once. I found when I prestiged I got used to quickly not having the perks or attachment and seemed to play a better game and it was much sweeter beating someone. Although I did die a lot as well.

go back to your roots . get a famas or a nice m16 something that requires some aiming rather than holding down the trigger . get a gun and stick with it took me so long to prestige then as soon as i did i stook with a famas became absolutely unreal with it . now im doing the same with the aug. so trust me whatever the gun u'll end up doing good :)

The main thing that annoys me when I prestige is that you don't get Cold Blooded or stingers until about level 30 so basically you're screwed from air support until then

definitely the worst part about it...especially for a sniper with the no name tag plus I miss the M93 :(
But it's worth it...I'm using guns I normally wouldn't and trying to get the badges for each..

  • Site Banned Posts: 26,456 ✭✭✭✭Nuri Sahin

I orginally really regretted the first time I prestiged. But you get over it and move on. It makes the game more challanging and helps keep interest up for those who like completing objectives etc.

I do miss claymores, scvanger, ninja, cold blooded and the AK everytime I do prestige though, I'd be lying if I said otherwise.

    Currently 4th prestige(whatever the 1st red badge is :p), level 40.

Oh and everyone should prestige once as you get the extra prestige challanges then.

The heart is racing , will i ,wont i , you press the button , it asks "more info" or "cancel" Yes you say to yourself and you press it you feel great , on top of the world for those few seconds then you look at the lonely 1 and you think oh f**k why did i do that.
Once you get past 30 which really shouldnt take that long your laughing , plus the extra create a class i find invaluable.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,265 ✭✭✭MiCr0

    ump for the win
i've 1k kills with this, and another 1k with the aug

    oh well - back to 0 :-)

    +1

I did the same last night, on my second time around Prestige. My problem is that you get no benefits from P2. No custom class. Just one different icon. :(

They are mainly scammers trying to rid you of either
A: your email and password ,hence your account
    B: 1600 ms points
    c: 200 or so headshots

all with the result of nothing

I find it easier to level up once you know how to work perks and everything.

When I start I set Assult to Slight Of Hand, Stopping Power and Steady Aim.

When I hit Sub I normally have Hardline unlocked so for Sub it's Slight Of Hand, Hardline and Scrambler.

Light Machine Gun Slight Of Hand, Stopping Power and Steady Aim.

Sniper Slight Of Hand, Stopping Power and Commando.

Shotgun- Rion Shield- Slight Of Hand, Stopping Power and Steady Aim.

    As I unlock it becomes.

Assult- One Man Army, Hardline and SitRep.

Sub- Scavenger, Cold BLooded and Ninja

Light- Bling, Stopping Power and Steady Aim

    Snipe- Bling, Stopping Power, Commando

    Shotgun remainds the same.

I also have a Thumper Class :D which is Scavenger, Danger Close and Commando

Then an Objective class which is MArathon, Lightweight and Ninja.

Normally with these settings when I go up I can normally be up to lever 30 in an evening.

Not a chance. Presuming an evening is about 4 hours playing, then I don't think so.

Scrambler is unlocked at what 16 , cold blooded is 24/25 ninja is 29 , as Tbh said what game modes are you playing ?
Considering 2 weeks ago you were complaining about how bad you were , then you switched to that you loved to camp big time, i realy dont see it.

But your also forgetting about Prestige challenges which help out a big deal. I went up about 3 levels in one game because I had a weapon that I just needed to get one kill with to hit a challege and get 10000 points for.
You also foget that the earlier levels it's dirt easy to level up since you only need about 1000 exp points in the earlier ones.

I'd rather not let people see my states as it would be shame full.

No worries on the f/r , challenges dont start till level 5 i think , i'm just interested to know what gamemodes you play etc etc .

    Rank 1 - Private 1 - 0 XP Required
    Rank 2 - Private 2 - 500 XP
    Rank 3 - Private 3 - 1700 XP
    Rank 4 - Private First Class 1 - 3600 XP
    Rank 5 - Private First Class 2 - 6200 XP
    Rank 6 - Private First Class 3 - 9500 XP

    Rank 9 - Specialist 3 - 23,600 XP
    Rank 10 - Corporal 1 - 29,700 XP
    Rank 11 - Corporal 2 - 36,500 XP
    Rank 12 - Corporal 3 - 44,300 XP
    Rank 13 - Sergeant 1 - 53,100 XP

    Rank 29 - Sergeant Major 2 - 329,900 XP
    Rank 30 - Sergeant Major 3 - 355,700 XP

If you can get 355,700 xp in an evenings play then fair play to you , to be honest the fact that you say your stats are shameful suggests that your story is untrue.I'm half average at this game ,i'm guessing it will roughly take me 10 + hours to get to level 30 , like i said just interested to know what modes you play.

How about next time I prestige, should be by next Monday at the latest, I PM my gamer tag. If I don't manage to hit level 30 in 4 hours (And no, I do not boost) you can share my gamertag with everyone here, yet if I DO manage to hit level 30 you have to tell everyone here TO FEAR MY WRATH and warn all Boosters that I'm coming and I'm going to burn them and then I'm going to drown them, tell them to run, RUN!!!

If you can get 355,700 xp in an evenings play then fair play to you.

Lets say in that evening of 4 hours play you get to complete a full 6 games per hour.

So 24 games to get 355,700XP. I'd say a game bonus of roughly 2000 is about average. So that leaves 307700XP left to get when you take away the 48,000 gotten in game bonus..

Lets then say you can manage an extra 100,000 XP from challenges in those 4 hours. I'd say that 25,000 of XP from challenges per hour is hugely generous. Even with Prestige challenges etc, you'd be very lucky to have all the numbers ready to flip over and complete just after you prestige. But again, we'll run with it for the sake of the example.

So that gives us 207,700XP left to get. In 24 games. From Kills. So 8650XP per game.

Lets take the gamemode as just TDM with 100XP per kill. This works out at just over 86 kills per game. If you factor in an average of 10% headshot ratio that still works out around 75 kills per game (I think. Maths a bit shakier here.) But basically it's impossible.

Am I missing something here with regard to MW2 XP, or am I right that it's impossible, or have I just wasted 5 minutes on someone trolling.

Btw, if your "evening" is 6 hours play, that still works out at over 35 kills per game needed. That is assuming you maintain your 25,000 per hour rate of Challenge XP, and get your 2000XP game bonus each time. So it is possible, but again highly unlikely in that time. I'd say the range of 10 hours is attainable with average gameplay, with down to maybe 8 hours possible if you are on a roll and get lucky with prestige challenges finishing.
