"It is often stated, though usually in a broad context, that history is bound to repeat itself, that events long past will reoccur in modern times with a similar tone to those of antiquity. Well on June 25th 2011, history will repeat itself, but that usual broad context will be narrowed to a single significant point in the history of two great nations, a point found one hundred and thirty six years ago on the sands of Dollymount Strand."

For more information about this historical event you can read the full story on the National Rifle Association of Ireland website here.

Great news, well done to all concerned:D

It's great to see some positive news regarding shooting for a change:D

I hope the plans include a huge spectator grandstand and some sort of TV facility for viewing the 1200 yard action:)

    Just to clarify things,

The new "Creedmoor range" will have facilities to shoot out to 1200 yards.

The "Creedmoor Cup" will be a two day F-Class team shoot at 800, 900 and 1000 yards each day, between the Irish and American F-Class squads. Both squads will consist of 32 members, 16 of which will be shooting for score. These 16 will consist of 8 F-Open and 8 F-TR shooters whose scores will be combined to decide the winners.

i hope this good news can be shown to good effect in the wider normally anti-gun media ,display our good points for once , show we're not all glocks and camouflague toting nutters that they'd like to portray us as.

    Carlos,

To my knowledge it will just be an F-Class event.

    Dates to be confirmed.

The "Irish F-Class Open" will see competitors from the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, America, England, Scotland, Germany, Spain, France and Holland compete for the title of "Irish Open Champion" in both F-Open and F-TR categories.

The "Team Europe V Team America" match will consist of competitors from the above mentioned European Countries taking on the Americans in a team match. This event was first held in Lodi, USA in 2008.

The National Rifle Association of Ireland website - http://nrai.ie/, will be fully updated soon to show this and other up coming events.

Great news and I'm sure there will be no lack of volunteers for the event. Now how can I hide a big, new, shiny FTR rifle and Nightforce scope from herself indoors? :D

    Stephen,

Its a real shame that it is only F-Class, i would have hoped for some TR events also.
