Hi guys i'm using cabbage over my meteor mobile internet on my samsung galaxy mini and it does not use any data according to 3g watchdog. Does this mean that i can use it with no credit over 3g and will my credit decrease when my free calls texts and internet expire after 30 days.???

If its sending the message using 3G then it must be using data to connect to your provider. From what I have seen data usage apps should only be used as a guideline, they are not 100% accurate.

Ok when my free texts are gone how much will it cost me to send a text with cabbage over 3g?

Assuming you're on pre pay with no internet package it'll be the standard internet rates. The way meteor works is a soon as you connect to the internet it costs 69c and then the next 50mb are "free".

So if you're only planning to use the mobile internet for cabbage you'll have to send 5 or 6 messages to make it worth your while but if you're using the internet anyway it won't cost any extra

What network are you on and can you log in to their website?

    Hi there,

I've started using cabbage lite on an android tablet. However it doesn't seem to have a contacts list, so I'm having to type in the numbers each time.

Does cabbage ultimate have its own contacts list?

The reason I'm asking is I think the original version of cabbage I used on the a nokia could get numbers from the phones contact list or from cabbages own contact list.

Thanks a lot! Great app :)

The app doesn't have its own contacts list but it should be able to read the device's contacts. What do you see if you press the button with the + symbol on the top right of the screen?

When I click the + I get "contacts" and "type to search contacts" but as it's a tablet I don't think it has a contacts list so the search is blank. Is there a way to mimic a contacts list that'd exist on an android phone?

    Thanks!

    @jone2010
do you not have a "people" app on your android? you should be able to put contacts in here and they should then show in cabbage.

I think People is a HTC app,

@jone2010 you need to sync your Google contacts with your tablet. Should be simple under Settings somewhere.

As Random and killbillvol2 have said I would think that the table would still have a contacts list

what's the make and model of the tablet?

Thanks for the help, Random, killbill and Sam!

This solution worked for me. I couldn't find a stand alone contacts list on the tablet (cheap one - odys loox) so I added some contacts to my google account and now they come up in cabbage once I sync'd it.

    Thanks again!

Does it happen over wifi and mobile?

Can you log in to your network's website on a pc?

And what happens when you try to schedule a message?

Could you try to schedule a message and see what response you get?

Do you know someone who would let you put their login into the app to test it?

Also, you're on O2 right? Their website wasn't working earlier today

Yes I am O2. They have been having constant data problems recently. This could be the cause.

I've just released a new version that hopefully fixes O2 connectivity problems by bypassing their proxy that doesn't seem to be working properly

    The main new features are:
    - You can create contact groups
    - ultimate users get an optional quick reply pop up when a new message arrives
    - It supports Telenor Serbia now

And there are lots of little improvements not worth mentioning

A few people contacted me about putting ads in the app but I resisted the urge to go to the dark side :D

Try it out. I anxiously await the inevitable bug reports :)

just a minor observation when I use the cabbage in portrait mode the list of suggest words hovers over the send button.... I've had more than one message sneak out before I've perfected it :-p Would it be possible to move the button? Other than that I cant fault the app... looking forward to getting the update :)

just today Cabbage has stopped working with TescoMobile for me - I've just upgraded the app and its still not working. Webtext works from the webpage fine though. "Could not connect to network website" is the error message (on both Wifi and 3G, and when I click "Verify" in the settings).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,611 ✭✭✭✭Sam Vimes

Sorry about that. Filezilla did something weird to the scripts when I uploaded new versions yesterday. I've fixed them now. Is it working for you now?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,583 ✭✭✭✭loyatemu

Yep, working fine now, thanks Sam.

I really like that new little return box that pops up instead of going into the full app

    Great addition.

    Thanks a lot Sam

Not all of my massages are sending. Sometimes i get an error message O2 proxy refusing connection.

The next time that happens could you restart your phone and see if the problem resolves itself, at least temporarily?

There seems to be some problem with the O2 network or Android phones or some combination of the two that causes secure connections to start to fail after a while. The latest release of Cabbage seems to reduce the problem but possibly not resolve it entirely and other people have reported that restarting their phone has worked

It works sometimes and doesn't on other occasions. I have restarted the phone but didn't make any difference. It worked all day for me without any problems.

I upgrade my HTC Sensation to ICS and since then Cabbage has been giving me Message Not Sent errors.

'failed at the final message sending stage' is the brief message that pops up.

However, some of the messages seem to be sending, despite the error message.

I have also restarted my phone a few times.

It looks like this problem is more complicated than I originally thought. I'm updating it at the moment with a new workaround. It seems that refreshing the connection to the O2 network works until the next time the network decides to stop processing requests again so when the new version gets the connection refused error it's going to add a new O2 APN, then refresh your connection to the network by activating this APN for a few seconds and then going back to your old one. I have it on my phone now and it seems to be working well. If this problem is happening on your phone you'll see your 3G/EDGE/H symbol disappear for a few seconds as your data connection is refreshed

And of course the app will ask your permission to do this the first time it happens and you can disable it if you want.

    What network are you on?
    Does it ever work?
Press menu->Settings->Sending method. What's it set to?
