I'm a no to the movie as I've seen it but I'd be a yes to meeting anyone after work in town that isn't going home after work/is killing time util 8.30 for a drink/coffee or a bite to eat so I suppose I'm a yes and no  Anyway I'll keep my eyes on the thread and see what happens.

Ah you wouldn't though. I mean yeah, it sounds really sad, but.. it's kind of a feel-good movie in a way. It's filmed so well, it's so full of beauty, and a lot of horrible stuff happens but that's not the point of the film at all.

It's hard to explain, but it's not one you'd cry at.. you'd leave happy enough.

    Thanks ladies.

I'll just say - for personal reasons it's not something I could watch :)

Saw a clip for it this morning and it looks good!

Girls decided to have a GIRLS only night! Thats not being sexist in any way!

To this particular beers. They will be welcome at beers in the future.
It can be intimidating for some women, to come to a TLL beers. Where there are significantly more men than women. As has been happening of late.
Or simply disappointing, when you think your going out to a ladies forum event.
We are just trying to encourage more people to come out, and use the forum.

And I would love to go, but I am poor till April. :(
    Have a good night Ladies!

Degsy, give it a rest. Now. The Girls Night Out policy has already been decided and the reasons for it have been clearly laid out. If you want to discuss it I'll do it by PM but for all that is good just leave this thread be and let the girls get on with discussing their evening out.

I'm not discussing anything via PM.
I and several other males are offended by the language used in the other threads...and the inference that we're all a bunch of creeps, attending events in order to sleaze on women.

I wont post further in this thread but perhaps the other one should be re-opened as i feel it could be dealt with further.

I have to admit, i don't get peeved that much as a person, but sometimes i do. A lot of guys post here a good bit (i post a little) but as soon as a thread about a night out is mentioned there are always a few guys posting about wanting to go along. There is a reason why this is the Ladies Lounge and a Girls Night Out.....is a Girls Night Out. I think we forget that sometimes.

Have fun girls. Have a great one. :)

Dont see the problem..i've been to many meetups and never caused a probelm..i fail to see why people should be excluded because of thier gender..by people who DONT go to meetups themselves!

why dont you organise an all male beers or meet up!^

I dont see the problem if some ladies in this forum would like a female only
meet-up.I doubt any of the girls would be trolling the gentlemans club
if they organised an all male beers!

Why are you kicking up such a fuss about this? Would you get offended if a female friend of yours went out for a girl's night out? Or your sister? Or your girlfriend?

Should girls get offended when you go for lad's nights out?

It's not like the girls are trying to rub your noses in it. Where else are they supposed to talk about it? There's hundreds of girls who look at this forum, are they all meant to just chain PM/email one another so you won't be offended?

Chrissake, get over it, it's ONE night, there's been hundreds of mixed nights and will be hundreds more. Pick your battles, this one isn't worth fighting.

No,but i would get offended if they asked me to meet them later on at the venue(as they should be allowed to do)and i was "named and shamed, asked to leave and permabanned" on my arrival.

Im sorry for this and i apologise to my fellow mods but i have come under a personal attack here and i feel i have the right to defend myself. If Degsy had read back in the thread he would of seen this - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=64517741&postcount=535 - post where i specifically say i like having the lads at the beers and we are only doing what forum users want.

Again im sorry for the o/t post.

To any of the men who are reading this who may feel that a Girls' Night Out is Sexist Exclusionary and Against the Spirit and Will of boards.ie...

... I invite you to re-read the title of this Forum. It is a place designed to be a comfort zone for women. The forum is, by its nature, exclusionary. And at the risk of succumbing to that all-encompassing catch-all get-out-clause, if you don't like it, don't read it.

We love having men post here. We really do. They provoke, they entertain, they banter, they do all the things that girls can do :) But sometimes, just sometimes, we may want to have a night that's just for the girls. There's nothing sinister in it, we're not trying to piss anyone off, and no, there isn't any penis envy at play. We just want to hang out with other girls.

Some girls simply like the other company of girls sometimes. It is that simple. Of course, some girls found the presence of some men a little unnerving at the beers. If you, as a man, are reading this thinking "well that wasn't me, why should I be punished by it?" perhaps choose not to see it as "punishment" at all, when you are, by the nature of the forum, a guest here to begin with, and perhaps it's just that this once the girls have decided to reserve the right to withold your invitation for a night out. I'm 100% sure that there will be many, many more nights out where the guys' presence will be welcomed with open arms. It's a shame that this time around the less-than-favourable actions of a few blokes have tarnished the good name of other tLL regular male visitors (of which there are many, and we <3 them), but that's just how it goes sometimes.

So really guys, just let the girls have a night out. Stop the badgering and the questioning and the accusations of elitism and sexism and other -isms that are not at play here. Let the girls enjoy themselves, and prove yourselves to be the gentlemen you claim to be.

Thats nit picking at it's finest, I really don't see a problem with the women from the ladies lounge organising a girls night out. I don't see how any man on this forum would find that offensive, it's just idiotic if they did.

Something may or may not have happened, it's none of our concerns, what happens off boards, stays off boards unless it's brought up in the correct thread, which this certainly isn't.

Anyway ladies, enjoy your night out.

Sorry to jump in but I felt that this should be answered for posterity.
I was a bit curious about this. Did something happen on Sat night???

Nope. Nothing happened at all. There was no untoward behaviour. What happened was there was a lot more men than women at a TLL beers and people on both sides of the gender line felt uncomfortable with this so the Ladies of the Lounge decided to have some time to themselves, which is a pretty great idea, in fairness.

Just thought it should be stated that no one, male or female, was acting the maggot. Thanks. Have fun Ladies (and Minidazzler, who will no doubt dress up as a lady in an attempt to crash this and report back your secrets to us men-folk!).
