Hi mate sorry to hear about your issues with nova t.
Try removing your nova t tuner and going to menu/plugins and press red to remove. Scroll to dvb and remove the nova.driver. insert your nova tuner back in rear usb and reboot.
Next download then italysatdtt driver for duo from here http://www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?8329-Panel-DTT-for-all-E2-images-for-dreambox-and-VU&highlight=italysat
Ftp it to var/volatile/tmp and install VIA ipk installer in vix menu. Then install italysat driver.
Reboot and your nova t problems shall be no more

    (hopefully LOL)

Just to update on this - these drivers worked fine for me, no more problems with DTT channels hanging the box - even when running permanent time shift to a USB stick!

    Thanks, irishchris

Well, to be honest, there isn't a noticable difference between the DM800 and the Vu+. Why would there be I suppose. They both do 720p and 1080i.

Its the power of the box that I think is great. I have 3 DMs and I had to move the webinterface off them onto a Linux server and connect back using the Enigma2 API (I wrote a whole web interface for this). The reason was if someone was watching the DM and I conencted to it remotely (to set a time, search the EPG, stream a movie etc) the DM froze up at the users end. The box just couldn't handle watching TV and serving up the web interface at the same time. The UNO is fantastic for resources and has no trouble :D

    Going on a different tangent...

Has anyone successfully configured the Vu+ to work on PC's over the internet. ie. Vu+ to PC using VLC to scale the picture for upping on the web via DynDNS.

I've tried a few times but failed, instructions usually involve outdated versions of VLC.

I could get VLC to playback the channel on the Vu+ but I couldn't get it scaling or online. Very frustrating.

    Hi Byte,

if you mean that I can see here at work via vlc whats being watched on my Duo at home, as well as select any other channel and watch that without impacting whats on at home, then yes.

It took me a huge lot of trial + error though, and it really only started working properly after I upgraded to the 50MB UPC package (5MB upload).
Even now its far from perfect and vlc does crash out now + again, but it is watchable.

I've set up with dyndns on the Inadyn menu on the box, and free dyndns account, with the http port forwarded in the router. VLC is version 1.1.9

One thing I did fail at was the scaling. Anything I did seemed to have little effect.

Aye, as I have only a half-meg upload maximum, I'll need to be able to scale the picture back.

Maybe I need to roll back to old version of VLC?

Dunno. I'm sure whatever rules apply to Dreambox users would be same for Vu+ (image dependant maybe)?

I am having problems with my vuo+ duo on the Irish terrestrial stations. I am using VIX 2.2.110 12 August 2011. I have downloaded the italysat driver etc. and it is installed correctly.
The issue is that following a recording on RTE 2 (for example) I get an error message "Tune failed!" when I change the channel. The programme has recorded. I have to switch off the power and reboot to get access to the terrestrial stations again.
Has anyone a solution for this?

The italysat driver semms to be no better than the vix driver tbh.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 594 ✭✭✭rurs

What kind of USB tuner are you using?

It sounds like it's not totally compatible with the driver.

Works better for me. I haven't tried recording anything on the DTT though...

That's the same issue I was having with my NovaT, and still do but to a lesser extent. Now, I've the Nova-T running on a powered USB hub, and then into the STB.

I don't rely on it to record anything though I have to reboot the box less.

Anyone have any luck with my previous query, running the Vu online (via VLC or some such) so I can access it at work for example?

I'm looking to get a FTV card for my Vu+ duo to watch Motors TV.

Where's the best place to get one that is already activated and ready to go as I don't have a Sky box?

Wow, I'd never heard of Motors TV, many thanks, just tuned it in. Order a sky card from sky using this guide - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=64022111

    or this search
    http://www.google.ie/search?hl=en&source=hp&biw=1311&bih=884&q=sky+ftv+card+site%3Aboards.ie&oq=sky+ftv+card+site%3Aboards.ie&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&gs_sm=e&gs_upl=1372l8694l0l8853l27l26l0l14l14l0l237l1762l5.4.3l12l0

When it arrives, you can chance the phone activation or there are one or two boardsies with boxes that can do it via phone and they might help you. Or, go to a sat installer ans ask them for a card/sh box deal.

I received my Vu+ Duo from Satnet on Wednesday, flashed it with latest VIX 2.2 firmware, the basic setup was not that hard. Iam using an old tv with scart connection, of some reason the text in the setup menu becomes very small, is this normal? Any way to make it bigger?

It becomes very hard to see the channel list when the text is so small.
Is it like this that the Vu is designed for newer HD ready tv's and are not suited for older tv's?

I cant figure out how to set up favorite list, is there any guides out there?

I just got my Vu+ duo and have it set up for FTA channels.
I don't have any Irish channels yet and from what I can see in the thread, there are a couple of ways, but it's hard to so the pros & cons.
I think I can use Nova / PlayTV, but can drivers can be an issue or I can do with a Sky FTA card, and maybe get other channels also but looks a bit more stable.
Have I understood it right and anyone any advice?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,527 ✭✭✭stanley1

playstation playtv with nova_T drivers will give you dual tuners for saorview, sky FTA card will give you extra sat channels, I think it's 5, 5*, 5usa.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 653 ✭✭✭Gunther_Gloop

Channel 5 is on FTA so you'll have that anyway.

I haven't heard of anyone having problems with a playstation playtv using the Nova T drivers, so if you can find one of those that's probably your best bet IMO.

I have a Nova T and I've had very few problems with it. Once every couple of weeks it does go blank and I need to hard-reset the unit in order to get them back. That's not a problem for me.

The playtv usb stick, as Stanley1 points out, is a dual tuner too of course, so you'll be able to record one Irish DTT channel while viewing another.

I hear well-priced ones pop up on ebay every now & again.

Playtv I think I'll be looking for then.

I'm not really interested in pick TV just want to try get oscam working. I have installed oscam 1.00.3199 and have put the three files in var/tuxbox/config. What am i doing wrong?

I'll tell ya what you're doing wrong shall I!

You're not bothering to thank people on the forum when they help you, and furthermore you're sending unsolicited pm's to people looking for help without introduction, thanks or anything...just a whole pile of expectation.

okay i'm not sure what your problem is as I was only asking for some help.

I tried using the files you uploaded and the advice that azzerretti gave but haven't had any luck. I pm'd you because you seem to know something about oscam and I couldn't see where I was going wrong. I thought you might be able to help me.

If you look at post #1756 above, I responded to your question about sky ftv cards. I put a reasonable effort into that response, I researched and found an old thread and even did a google search and posted both links for you. That post probably took me 5 minutes to complete. You didn't even acknowledge it or as much as click a thanks button.

Now that in itself wasn't an issue for me, in fact I didn't even notice it until last night when you sent me a pm. In that pm, you didn't even use the word "hi". Just straight in with questions about oscam. No "bye" or "thanks"; nothing. Just a series of questions full stop. That's when I considered both and came to the conclusion that you might be a little rude.
Now rather than come back at me with a "what's your problem mate"; Perhaps just take on board what I'm saying as a constructive criticism, learn from it and move on. You'll surely do better for it when asking questions of others.

I'm done with this now, apologies to all for going OT. Not trying to thread spoil. I will post no more on the matter.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,946 ✭✭✭swoofer

oh my oh my, who is being rude, whats the big idea of quoting his long thread, it means we have to scroll down for ages to next thread, and you could have easily told him in the pm.

This is a hobby and when you are slaving over a quite complicated process and your head is buzzing its hard enough to drag yourself away from the task in hand to ask what you hope is the correct question. I cant see any reputation counter for thanks so it does not really matter. All of us have helped people and never heard from them again. The VU+ with oscam is complex so if you dont know just say nicely and I am sure you can switch off PM's . We are all trying to master the vu+ and I for one am delighted that recyclebin has taken the trouble to include his conf and I hope he wont be put off by your reply.

I would refer him to other vu+ boards and I think I put a link elsewhere about oscam I will dig it out elsewhere.

for those sky cards u can try flebay or with a uk address do it online, it has to e activated in sky box and then will work, the ftv even work sometimes with no call to sky

He has a point though a little politeness goes a long way. I'm wondering why a Pm was even used surely its better to put any questions here so all can see and gain from the knowledge?

Ok guys, just an update on oscam.

I posted on world of satellite and got a detailed response from a guy called clabs on how to setup oscam. I'm going to try it this evening after work. I'll let you know how I get on.

The link to the post is:
    http://www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?7376-CCcam-amp-Sly-Setup-on-VIX-2.0-by-dymebox&p=85376#post85376

I bought the ftv card from ebay and it came activated. It cost €35 euro and the seller was based in ireland so it should be easy to find if anyone else is looking to buy one.

I followed the instructions from world of satellite and I had Pick TV clearing for about 10 seconds but then it froze. I think I might give up on this until the weekend when I have a bit more time.

If anyone is looking for TSpanel I got it from here http://www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?8349-TSpanel-(Tunisiasat-Panel)-by-mFaraj57/page2&highlight=tspanel

TSpanel looks like a nice plugin and it allows you to unintall packages, download CAMs etc.

To install TSpanel copy the ipk file it to the tmp folder on the vu+. Then use the remote to go to menu, setup, vix, install local extension and hit green to install.

Pay particular attention to the slot that you have the card in, and the orientation of the card. I'm still not sure which is slot one and which is slot 2 so try em both and duplicate them in the config files (overkill) and work back from there.

Here are my latest config files and my version of oscam. This lot works well and is clearing pick tv. You can see in my oscam.server, I had both slots covered and then rem'd out the one I didn't need. I also removed my box ID for privacy although I'm told that oscam doesn't even need it.

Try these with this particular version of oscam.
