A heavy defeat to Tipp in Thurles, eh?

We know the drill, biscuits in Colm Collins' house , then bounce back and win the All Ireland in September

i think that only works against cork . . . . . . and in a smaller pitch like limerick ;), i personaly would like to see podge switch back over to hurling many disputed that he would struggle to get a starting place with the hurlers is a joke he is needed more then ever at the moment and i honestly think after today that we have cover for him when it comes to football

He's opted for football and that's that.
He's not going to switch mid season.

Let's just see how 2015 turns out first

Well, disappointing stuff again, 3 straight defeats so far.

Massive performance by Conor Ryan to keep us in it, but a deserved win for Tipp.

The forward line never really got going (although Tipp backs were very good), don't think any of the forwards had a particularly good game.
some basic skills and decision making presented Tipp with some pretty easy scores and easy frees.

Incredible the space Woodlock got for his goal

Sums it up for me too. Conor Ryan was superb.
As you say, our basic skills were awful at times and we gifted tipp some simple scores from these mistakes.
Then when we had opportunities to get the ball into SOD quickly we would hit it high most of the time which is pointless. He had his man in trouble any time he got low quality ball in.
Some of the frees we gave away were so soft as well especially a few from Dillon where there was no need to foul.

Our forward play is very worrying. No ball winners, our ability to catch a ball is terrible and the lack of goal scoring chances being created is zero.

Worrying times ahead and even more pressure on Davy now.

We are so predictable when we go with a one man full forward. Very easy for opposing teams to cut out the supply. Is there a plan B? Looks like there isn't. Why cannot we go 15 v 15 for a few matches and let's see where we stand.

the sweeper system worked well i taught especially in the first half we were unlucky in my opinion not to be alot closer at half time , but the diffrence was our decision making through out the game which was terrible all day especially when the game was in the balance we had several oppertunitys to tap over a few scores and claw back the tipp lead with 10 15 minuets remaining instead we constantly looked for a short pass or short ball into the inside forward line which were never on in the first place ,

shane o donnell had a good game giving the service he had to work with , he was also double marked one of his markers was cathal barrett who was one of the best players on the field , connor mcgrath and john conlon were well below par for there own standards and offered little help to shane at the best of times

i think shane golden has played in every position on the pitch at some stage in a clare jersey bar in goals and was again uninspiring , he is a good prospect but at this current moment in time we have much better options available to us as aarron cuningham proved in the seccond half , paul flanagan , connor ryan david macinerney patrick o'connor and all played well at the back even donnllon played well but yet again only when operating the sweeper role ,

on a positive note we competed much better in midfield dominating things at times but or distribution of the ball let us down, tipperary were the better side and with less chances punished us all day with any mistake we made , its most likely a relagation play off that awaits us now lets just hope we can start to sharpen things up now and kick on in what has been a disappointing day

i am only thinking out loud buddy , but he is so badly needed to the hurlers at the moment its not funny , and i was in favor at the time of him going for the footballers over the hurlers , there is just not enough players steeping up to the mark as far as the hurlers are concerned ,

Far from me to be having a pop(which I'm not by the way) but 4 competitive wins from 13 games since winning the all Ireland must be setting off a few alarm bells is it?

they have been ringing for a while now probably since the middle of last year for all the players we have at our disposal management continue to nearly always pick the same team and system , personally i think the team needs an overhaul

What a shambles of a display today, we've gone from 1 of the most skillful teams going to 1 that has a terrible first touch, why have we stopped hitting the ball on the front foot? We had some very bad wides and we actually looked unfit. WTF was McGrath (I think) doing rising the ball in the square from the save, pull on the f**king thing.

We're not gone almost a year without a competitive win and that was against Laois, we're not in a relegation play off, maybe against Kilkenny.

Absolutely. Did any Clare player pull on a ground ball at all? The only ones I saw were the Tipp boys on 2 or 3 occasions.

    .

They was bizarre ok, surely a certain goal if he just pulled on it.

Anyways, the Tipp goalie pulled off a great save from Kelly when he was needed.

Kelly might have done better for the McGrath goal

Can anyone explain to me why and who fixed the clare v dublin hurling match next weekend for the Saturday at 3pm??

Thus, clashing with the Ireland rugby match!!

    An absolute joke.

Every year there are hurling and/or football league games clashing with 6 nations matches.
    Nothing new really

you can thank the dublin hurlers , dont know why it was moved back as far as i know they requested the fixture to be put back to the saterday , the initial fixture was set to be a double heder with armagh in the football on the same day

Pulling on the ball almost certainly is not part of Davies game plan. Unfortunately Davy has taken his eye off the ball when it comes to basic hurling skills and is trying to be clever with tactics instead. Thankfully hurling will always reward teams who focus on the skills and not make a return for a substitute for the skills. I sure wish Clare would go out and play 15 on 15 if only to see what would be the outcome. Under Davy we will never know!

I wonder what Eamon Taaffe made of that missed chance !

they did go 15 v 15 when pat donnellon was taking off , it didnt work simply because as you rightly said our basic hurling let us down all day , were probably more comfortable playing the sweeper system but our ball handling first touch and general passing was terrible at times , most of our defence was fine david mac paul flanagan and conor ryan had great games but the likes of john conlon tony kelly and connor mcgrath did not and we cant afford that to happen too often in future either

Well that was my first game in 4 years after returning home so wouldn't have known that.
Classic gaa decision though. Be lucky to get 4000 at the game I'd say

Sure I suppose the GAA can't always reschedule games when the rugby is on.

Anyways, I guess the lads will have a real point to prove v Dublin (hopefully) so might he our first win.
Tricky that some lads are playing Fitzgibbon during the week, but not sure if Dubs are in the same boat

i think its mainly clare and tipp lads on the u.l team the likes of jason forde thomas hammell and john mcgrath for tipp tony kelly david mac ect... from us

i dont blame the gaa for the clash with the rugby infairness how many major super sunday premier league games have clashed with gaa games down through the years , i was at the clare/sligo game last week which clashed with the rugby aswell and yes attendances was down by about 1000 from previous games but thats life as they say , thats what sky plus is for if people are too lazy to go to league games thats there problem and in truth dont deserve tickets when it comes to all irelands and the llike

Galvin would be a big loss for us. He is absolutely entitled to go off and enjoy himself for a few months. Might not have the chance again.

Does anyone know what happened with Nicky O’Connell and David O’Halloran leaving the panel?

Is Davey totally losing the players respect?

I don't want to see a Gerald McCarthy style atmosphere in the Clare camp, we have so much potential, it would be a disaster if it was wasted.

States on rte sport that the game is on at 5 in ennis. Is this true? Thought it clashed with the rugby but would make it to Cuscal park

Would O'Halloran be good enough to make football team? He played a bit with Eire Og last year

Let's see does the full story come out on the indiscipline.
Ironic that Galvin's possible departure might have opened things up for Nicky O'Connell.

As for the footballers, I'd be looking for a big win this weekend against fellow All-Ireland contenders Armagh, just to lay down a marker that we're serious bringing Sam to the Banner county later this year
