Clare's use of the ball out of defence is absolutely atrocious.

Gifted Limerick about 1-4 for nothing.

We're being bullied on nearly every line of the pitch, we should be about 20 points up but are losing physically everywhere, we seem more interested in taking contact than using space.

Full back line are all over the place.

    Beating ourselves once again.

They might win it in spite of themselves:)

Did their best to loose that but showed great determination to bring themselves back into the lead.

Duggan has been immense. Hopefully he is finally fulfilling his potential that he has shown throughout the underage grades in Clare.

Limerick are swarming the Clare players. There has to be space with quick ball.

The marking was so loose for the Limerick puck outs.

Ah was that not Lynch’s second yellow??

That free at the end was a disgrace. He just dropped and he gave a free. Refs at this level are so poor.

Clare could feel hard done there as there was a 3rd man tackle out in the right corner not long before that goal.

Silly to not tap over the point as well when up by 3 with 28 gone.

Forgot this was on today but maybe it was a part of that silly GAA rule where ET is treated as a new game and teams who may have had someone sent off in normal time are allowed back to 15.

It was but as he got the second in extra time, its meant to be another game so he starts with no cards again.

Great game for me the neutral!

Bang on with your first two points anyway. I’d like to see a replay of the actual free that was given. Didn’t see much in it at all.

    The officials haven’t a clue what’s going on :)

Clare are the same when it is a free and the team need a goal. Pack the goal so much no one can move

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

Ref rode us at the end. How o donnell didn’t get a free either time is beyond me.

While the ref should have got O'Donnell been fouled Clare themselves lost it

    That or replays

    Absolutely replays. Fuk the timetable.

What was the story regarding Podge Collins coming on late in the second half of normal time but taken off late on again in e-t. Collins was fuming from what I saw on tv when coming off. Management seemingly have no faith in the Cratloe man. Likewise Ian Galvin, he came on but taken off before the end of e-t.

'Next score wins' after extra time would make more sense to decide the game, at least it would be won or lost from play. This frees thing is silly

Think the Podge sub was to bring in Deasy with the free taking comp in mind. That worked out well!!!

Quite worried about the lack of faith our players have in shooting. Messed up plenty of chances when in decent positions where inter county players really should be putting points over from.

Thought on the balance of play Limerick were the slightly better team, just their shooting let them down at certain occasions. The last passage of play in normal and extra time were dubious outcomes that ended in Limerick frees as Duggan was clearly third man tackled and SOD held back and jersey pulled as he turned McCarthy.

Overall Im not so bothered about losing, fair play to Limerick they have some nice talented coming true and play a good brand. I actually think bowing out now might be a good thing, as the first teamers have played enough games this spring.

Clare have a big problem at the corner back positions and the lack of options tried I think will really hurt us in the summer.

Great to see that display by Duggan, he was probably the most dominant player on the field (with Lynch and Kelly).

Not a great league overall imo but at least we stay up.

Funny how people would expect a good free-taker to be an integral part of any team yet when the best five on a county panel are asked to take frees it’s a “lottery”.

Have you thought about this? Next score wins would not work in gaa. The game would surely end in a controversial free. In soccer they do not have scoreable frees like they do in gaa unless its a penalty or direct free kick. For what they are worth games like today are better off decided on frees or maybe penalties rather than replays.

I have to admit to having typed a shocking post earlier that thankfully I didn't post, it would have been quite embarrassing to be banned from a forum I used to moderate.

That has to be 1 of the most frustrating performances I can ever remember from a Clare team, we should have won easily, we did all the hurling but continuously made mistakes to let Limerick back into it. Now the ref didn't do us any favours but we didn't do ourselves any favours either, some of the most disappointing things about the game for me were
    • We were completely dominated physically
    • No leadership on the field
    • No plan B for the puck outs
    • Full forward line miles from goal
    • No goal chances for us
    • Panic any time Limerick got a run at us

Now, all the above are issues but the most frustrating things for me was the Limerick free to draw the game at the end, it f**king bounced over 2 of our players who were on their knees and the performances of 2 of our "stars".

Tony Kelly and SoD should be our leaders, they are automatic starters, 1 is a former hurler of the year and the other was MotM in an All Ireland final but their performances were poor today. Kelly was running into corners and bullied off the ball and as he was last year's free taker as well as 1 of our supposed leaders surely he should have put himself forward for the frees at the end. SoD, oooooh SoD, he might be playing a declared role but he can never get away from his opponent and any time he's in a challenge for possession he is so awkward and unable to keep his feat I'm not surprised he didn't get a free at the end, he always looks like he's being fouled and he never holds his feet.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of the players take the summer off now, the likes of Deasy, why stay around? 2 minutes at the end of second extra time after being the hurlers of the club championship last year.

Finally, I wouldn't be too worried about losing the quarter final, we saw a couple of years ago that winning the league isn't worth anything it's all about the championship but unfortunately I can't see us challenging anyone with his team.

in think kelly deserves the benefit of doubt today in terms of criticism, he scored six points from play some of which were excellent

in regards puck outs , i would balme malone for not pulling his weight in that department , at one stage i counted 4 puck outs in a row that were aimed in his direction that he lost or for a better word not contest

he is there for his hight i would have expected a better performance from him , conlon got his coustmary 0-2 points , still feel he would be better off inside as you said our inside line is very light ,

if we dominate the half forward line we generally control games , today until duggan was moved to 10 after malone went off we started to dominate the game again , duggan had a super game in the air today , 19 points also 15 frees and 2 65's along with two from play , if he decided to have a day off today we would have been well beaten

our forwards lack of ball winning let us down today , our backs were under serious pressure all day , most of them played well enough cleary and david mc however have had better games
