i am certain i told you sunday night that i had not seen it , i asked people not to post aimlessly on what they heard sunday night either as it may have caused even more concern for club mates or friends of the injured man at that time that came across this page

there was several over the top reports by both radio stations and online media outlets at the time hardly fair on the family or friends of the man so i asked people not to post until we knew more of the situation

Indeed you did and you said you didn`t want Ideal ( idle ? ) speculation as to what happened yet you stated in Post #7269 that "jamie malone was probably harshly sent off for running into tipperary selector shane stapleton" and in the same Post said "there was no malice in it" !

How could you come out with such wild statements if you didn`t see it  ?

You have contradicted yourself by asking People on Sunday evening not to speculate as to what happened ( Post #7272 ) yet you did exactly that ! ! ! !

Umpire in Clare v Tipp NFL match claims to be squirted with water. As Derrick Lynch (Clare FM journalist) correctly put it, "you couldn't make it up".

I would genuinely love to know on what basis they are appealing it, he is absolutely blessed to be only getting two games.

When you consider that Diarmuid Connolly got 3 months in the height of the summer for a far less dangerous incident it makes an absolute mockery of the system, it appears if an incident is on The Sunday Game it automatically becomes more serious!

Which member of the Carlow back room team did Connolly knock over ?

Ironic that you would post this drivel on a topic where there is footage of the incident which has been shown on national tv and was widely reported by Newstalk as an altercation which hospitalized shane stapleton.
    Balanced reporting?

Do you think Malone's action in pushing Stapleton were reasonable? He wanted the ball back yes but it doesn't look like Stapleton was deliberately preventing him from getting it.

What he did was more irresponsible than Connolly's act. His 3 months ban was excessive, this 2 week ban is lenient.

Looking at the gif I can't see what Malone is appealing, the Tipp selector didn't seem to be doing anything and he pushed him. I would also say that the result of the push should be taken into account not just the fact it was a push

12-week ban for Gordon Kelly according to Rte.

Just the 2 changes for the Cork game, O'Malley and Deasy in for Fitzgearld and Malone who I think are carrying knocks (if so I barely want them even in consideration for coming off the bench). Good opportunity for the two lads, interested to see how Deasy gets on at this level. I thought he looked limited in his movement when he came on the last day but managed a great score at the end.

Hope we get the win, it will make certain our status in the division and hopefully we get to see some more panel members get a start. Would like to see the likes of Gudgie, McCarthy, Ian Galvin get a start. Also have a look at corner back options, I see Quirke is back, hopefully O'Brien and Hayes sometime soon.

I think we will win with the game on in the park. Were gathering a bit of momentum now.

Good to see the two starting . Especially o malley who deserves his chance with years

Still not overly happy with the 2nd half display in Nolan park so somthing to work on for sunday . Putting in a 70 minute shift from 1-15

Yes , particularly as you are a Moderator on this Site , you have to show balance ! To contradict yourself in the manner you did and to blurt out what you said in defence of Malone without seeing the incident was appalling !

It was poor, but at least for me, self inflicted with the 12 wides and our failure to get good ball into the full forward line. Of course this was a big issue last year too, so we need to start seeing visible progress with the use of our possession. The only player I think has made progress in this area by himself, has been Colm Galvin, I think the likes of Kelly, Podge, Seadna, etc are still not making the right decisions on the ball.

Of course a huge amount of this has to fall back on the management and their strategies too. They got a pass (sort of) last year as it was their first year and they have to transition a group of away from Davy's style which was so systematic and stringent. But Donal and Gerry need to get their style of play right for the championship. Because if were hitting 12-15 wides a game and only giving the likes of SOD, McGrath, Duggan 2 or 3 balls each, we can forget about having a good year.

I`m very relaxed . So it`s okay for WSH to come out with whatever guff he wants and you want it to go unchallenged . So now it`s a case of the Clare Lads coming to his defence when he is unable to debate/defend himself ? He contradicted himself last Sunday , he`s normally well able to speak for himself , he`s been a bit shy since Sunday !

He dosen`t need you or anyone else to act as his Solicitor , instead of his guff why doesn`t he admitted he made a fool of himself last Sunday ! Appalling is apt , he defended Malone without seeing the incident , read Post #7269 ! ! !

the wides remain a huge worry , but in truth in nolan 2 weeks ago was there not instructions to shoot from range rather then drop the ball in , it was never addressed it would seem at the time , most of the wides that were hit were in the second half from ridicules ranges out the field

A great day for Scariff Community College who claimed the Munster Post Primary schools Senior C Hurling Championship crown after a 3-15 to 3-6 over last year's champions St Augustines of Dungarvan.

Cratloe's Diarmuid Ryan scored 1-2 and Rian Considine scored 1-1 and Clonlara's Conor Bourke and Aidan Moriarty also on the scoresheet as Ard Scoil Ris scored a 3-18 to 2-10 win over Midleton CBS to claim the Harty Cup.

A very productive day for both Clare representatives in the Ard Scoil Ris team and Scariff CC. Congrats to one and all. Liam Cronin who is part of the Clare senior hurling backroom team manages the Limerick school.

delighted for east clare who have little or nothing at underage to celebrate of late hopefully this along with tulla's minor win last season will reignite things ,on the eastern front , things have been too quiet ;)

Made hard work of it in the second half. Good performance though.

A very good game ruined by an over-fussy ref. And I feel Cork would be more annoyed by him.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 259 ✭✭Claregaafan18

Just back from the match. Mixed feelings coming out of Cusack Park. Again our failure to win primary possession ball in the half-forward line in the 2nd half was one of most frustrating things from today's match. While Cork's workrate was much improved in the 2nd half, I just felt that the rebels were there for the taking. Again discipline is of huge concern. Pa Horgan's free-taking will kill any opposition team so while the ref was fussy, we need to play the ref and be more cuter when it comes to our tackling. Peter Duggan had a second half mare with the frees. His ball flight is far too low and that might be great in golf, it doesn't cut it in inter-county hurling I'm afraid.

The positives were the 1st half. 16 points is an excellent tally and I believe 9 different scorers in that half. Mikey O'Malley was inspirational chipped in on the scoreboard and savage workrate too. Colm Galvin must have the best first touch in the country. Different class. Again no goals conceded (minus the sweeper). That is one goal conceded in 6 matches (3 league and 3 Munster League).

The workrate has improved no end since last year. But the second half collapse and inability to put away teams is a major concern going forward. So Wexford next week. Expect major changes as Donal and Gerry look to find more players ahead of the championship. At least Division 1A league hurling has been secured for 2019. Big bonus.

before i get to the positives the negatives that have haunted clare stuck there heads up again today

14 wides most of them scoreable 7 of them came from duggan , we really need to sharpen up on the free taking

i actually think the inside forward line is a bigger problem , fat too much of the ball played in came back out the field far too quickly , podge was probably one of the biggest culprits in not wining enough ball

for me conlon is far more suited to 14 then 11 and duggan is far more suited to the wing

on the positive side , michael o'mallys performance was excellent , i cant understand why he is being over looked for so long , hopefully we get to see more of himself jason mccarthy , ian galvin and darragh corry in the next two games

david reidy was excellent once again along with galvin , the formation of the side suites the players also , the sweeper system can only do so much , the team is playing a style of hurling more suited to what they play with there clubs

its important we sharpen up on the shooting stakes though but things going well at the moment but not getting carried away its only the 18 of February

    Scorers for Clare:
    Peter Duggan 0-8 6f 2 '65s
    David Reidy 0-3;
    John Conlon, 0-2
    Seadna Morey, 0-2
    Mikey O’Malley,0-2
    Tony Kelly,0-2
    Colm Galvin 0-2
    Podge Collins,0-1
    Niall Deasy 0-1

Yep a mixed bag but can’t complain with 3 wins in a row to start off the year. Good to see a new player take his chance when he starts.

Annoying we can’t put away teams and keep letting them creep back into games although I did like us trying to get that goal in the 2nd half to close out the match but lack of composure let cork off then.

Quite pleased with the defense actually as I wouldn’t have been too confident in it although we still give away plenty of easy silly frees.

No doubt their will be changes next week with a number if players in action for UL on the Saturday but it would be nice to beat Wexford with that gimp in charge.

no way could i cope with sitting beside thousands and thousands of davy fitz lovers next week :mad: , the job is pretty much done as regards a 1/4 final place ,contemplating a trip up north to watch the footballers but whatever happens i wont be heading south , as i said i woudnt be able to cope especially if wexford won :pac:

100% agree with you windy. The pro-Davy brigade will be well and truly out in force in Wexford Park on Sunday. To say I have no time for DF would be an understatement.

First off, any year we beat Tipp,Kilkenny and Cork is a good year.

Today's performance was extremely frustrating for a number of reasons.
1 - Duggan on the frees, I have absolutely 0 confidence that he'll score any free he's standing over, if anything I'd be more confident with him on a 65 than a 21.
2 - Full forward line, 1 score from free was a disgrace, was there any goal chances?
3 - Pucks out, bit better but still a bit of a lottery. I think Tuohy has cemented himself as the starting goalie now.

We're guaranteed playoff hurling now so next week I don't want to see any player involved with UL togging out, let them have a weekend off from Clare and enjoy the Fitzgibbon.
