looking forward to what the draw throws up tomorrow night , a clearer indication will be known in terms of who is going where , kilmaley sixmilebridge crusheen and ballyea all looking strong and i imagine the winners ( and losers) of the replay will have a large say later on in the year this is a much better format ,there was very little intensity in alot of them group games in the past champioships its going to be very hard to call this year

would have liked to see him fulfill one full year with the footballers and then head back with the hurlers again , its a shame realy but it cant be ignored though the amount of injuries and long term injuries the cratloe lads have picked up they have simply put up too many miles in the clock in the last few years in both codes something had to give and the county teams are now paying for it

I was in the park today for the underage football finals that were being played, the place was an absolute disgrace, the county board should be ashamed of themselves. Whatever about the state of the stands, the rust, the barbed wire or the lack of open shop, having the toilets padlocked shut is a complete and utter disgrace, what were they worried about? That people would break in to steal the toilet paper?

sad thing about is the same thing could have been said 20 years ago and nothing has been done , when you see how well run and looked after some of the parish venue's are its a disgrace to call it the county grounds , it dosnt even have floodlights , miltown malbay, doonbeg, kilmihil sixmilebridige all have far better setups and the most ironic part is most of them grounds have more seated areas aswell.
if a stand was built in tulla it would almost make for a better league venue , the viewpoints from the terrace at the far side of the park (the river side) for families with kids is terrible , its embarrassing in my opinion

According the the Clare Champion it was announced at last weeks county board meeting that the Park will close on 15th June for a period of 8 months to facilitate "upgrading works".

Now, while everyone agrees that it's a tip and needs serious work the timing is wacky. We will have back door matches in possibly both codes where we could get home draws and already have home advantage for the U21 hurling semi against Cork/Waterford. Can't understand why the closure couldn't have been set for mid to late July.

I don't know why they have to close the place altogether, especially this time of year, surely they could install the additional turnstiles now, start work on the car park as well, then tackle the main stand at the end of the summer.

By the way, I think it's a complete and utter disgrace the money that's being spent on the place doing it up now considering all the money they got for selling the land to Aldi back in the good old days.

What way does this work now? The 2 winners go through while the 2 losers play the winners of the losers matches is it? While the losers of the losers play for relegation.

that was almost 10 years ago you would wonder what was done with all that money , has anyone actualy seen the drawings or images of the proposed new stand or are they just going to paint over the rust again

its not that long ago they wanted out of work club members/players mainly qualified in the construction trade to work for free in the building of the center of excellence over near tulla

4 winners in winners group go through to quarter finals, losers play winners of losers group and winners of that are in quarters

They spent a lot of money in their proposed swimming pool out by the by-pass, they also spent a lot of money on Clare Abbey, they also spent a lot of money on other stuff I'm sure.

Fifa and Sepp Blatter has nothing on the Clare County Board and our own Teflon Don.

this is the slightly confusing part the 4 winners of the winners group games are through to the 1/4 final

the 4 losers of that round will play the 4 winners of the losers group with the winners going through to the 1/4 finals

the 4 losing teams of the losers group play off for relagation

That makes sense, don't know why I said 2 winners above. You can win the All Ireland is the same amount of matches as the Clare Championship :D

The money was just resting in my account.

    A good long rest.

There's a lot of money resting in accounts around the place, there's a lot of money in drawers, there's a lot of money being spent to help out failing businesses and other ways of disposing it. It's not just the big money that's going missing, it's also the couple of hundred people missing from every game's receipts, missing raffle ticket sales and other mis-accountancy practises.

Sepp Blatter is taking a new position within the Clare county board.

So not much talk ahead of the football game down in Cork this weekend.
    Any team announced?

So Podge is injured, but hopefully a few such as C.McInerney may be ready to come back in.

It's going to be a huge task, Cork are generally operating at a much higher level to us. Plus will be dying to get into action, after their disappointing last league outing.
Cork are also 1/25 ON with the bookies, and the handicap is about 10 points.

Personally I'd fancy Clare to beat the handicap on this one.

No team announced but they are supposed to be going well, I think the handicap is about right, if Clare stop kicking silly wides they could be well within the handicap.

J@ysus that's fairly grim reading, hopefully a few of them will be back in time for the qualifiers.

10 points looks generous after reading that :(:(

Rang a friend of mine on the panel on the way home this evening, he joked that I should leave my phone on in case I'd get the call, they are very badly affected by injuries.
