Seems like pretty much every celeb male has cheated, examples being Tiger Woods, David Beckham, good looking girls throwing themselves at them all the time.

Would you cheat if you thought you would get away with it and your OH would never find out and noone would ever know.

The guy/girl is really hot and mad after you, would you??

    Nope, would never cheat.

If a really wanted to go off with someone else I would end my current relationship rather then cheat.

Imagine being in the other persons shoes and being cheated on, would never do that to anyone. Even If they would never know, I would know and in turn the guilt would effect the current relationship.

I'm happy with my OH so don't have to worry about this sort of decision anyway.

I reckon any man with the amount of opportunities as lets say david Beckham has would give in eventually.

Apologies for being blunt Fink but saying we'd eventually give in is pure BS and ignorant!

Not every guy is a d!ck - If every guy got as many chances as beckham like you say and eventually would give in your making one serious generalisation!

So Honestly - A very Pointless thread!!

No, I'd never cheat. I've been cheated on in the past and it stinks plus my relationship means far too much to risk even if I thought I could get away with it - added to the fact that my relationship isn't missing anything that warrants getting it from a third party.
I reckon any man with the amount of opportunities as lets say david Beckham has would give in eventually.

I agree to a point. If a rich, handsome man spends swathes of time apart from his wife & surrounded by women throwing themselves at him then the conclusion seems to be fairly inevitable.

I would never cheat, and I think that if the idea of being caught is needed as a deterrent to cheating, then there's a problem that needs to be addressed.

A relationship should be built on trust and honesty, and cheating is breaking both of those.

I've had chances to cheat. Once with an extremely hot girl who is apparently filthy. And was basically molested last Paddys day by some drunk chick and I haven't cheated.

I have looked at the hot girl and thought "mmm hmm, that'd be hot", but that's as far as it went. All guys aren't predisposed to cheating. Although having model after model fling themselves at you would require some will power and a lot of self control.

Dont reply then if you think its so pointless, why dont you set up one that you think is!

Well if you havent been in that situation then you cant really say. Name a hot celebrity man that hasnt cheated?? Wouldnt say there's many!

For guys to go cheating they have to be cheating with someone. So either both sexes cheat roughly the same amount or else single women get a lot more sex than single men.

    Would I cheat? Nah, cba.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,998 ✭✭✭extra-ordinary_

It wouldn't matter if nobody found out - I'd know.

It would ruin the honest relationship I was having with my partner.

Looking at rich and famous types you do notice they divorce more and have rolling monogamous relationships more. I think they do because they can, they have more opportunities and less downsides as money does protect you a lot and gives you more freedom. IMHO I would say more people would move on at the 4 year mark if they had more freedom. Not even a conscious thing as such.

Cheating would plug into that too. more opportunities.

Plus many performers it could be argued are more emotionally needy and performing feeds back into that gap they may feel in themsleves. George Michael has talked about this.He reckons most perormers have that hole in them that the audience fills. I would reckon that type of personality is more likely to cheat full stop. People I know who are cheaters tend to be like that. The "is this it? I need more" types.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

    Its not just guys.

The woman can be just as sh!tty too.

Dont get me wrong i'm not saying i blame them or that i wouldnt do the same i mean if Ryan Reynolds, Josh Hartnett, Justin Trousersnake, or even Rob Kearney came after me while i was in a relationship i dont think i could resist the temptation.

    Have I cheated since? Yes.

I never feel bad when I go off with someone else, obviously I don't wanna be with the person I cheated on

Just to balance it up - i just read a piece in Now magazine* about Angelina Jolie cheating on Brad Pitt. He is one of the hottest men in the world.

But.. he cheated on Jennifer Aniston who is - or at least was at the time - one of the hottest women in the world.

So yeah. people cheat. not everyone, but you cant confine it to celebs or to men or to women. its everywhere.

& in response to the question - no i wouldnt. ive had it done to me & its one of the most horrible feelings ive ever gone through. i dont see the point in being with someone if you want to be with other people.

(yes i know its not necessarily reliable & yes i love to read gossipy mags on my lunch :D)

Yes definately. Im not a big believer in monogomy and its natural wanting to shag someone your sexually attracted to.
I would cheat If it was purely about sex,but If I was in love with the person I was cheating with then I would break off my current relationship.

I think Wibbs is pretty spot on when it comes to celebs and cheating.

Whos to say they wont, who's to say they just liked you better than the person they were with before they met you.
If they cheated with you and then left the partner straight away i'd say fair enough, if they were two timing then thats another story altogether.

    Cheating isn't in my personality.
I only have relationships with people I care about, and respect. I couldn't **** over some I felt like that about.
If I felt a strong desire to cheat, I would take that as indication that my relationship was past its sell by date. And bail before I started something else.

If you are currently in a relationship then you obviously shouldn't be.

You know, I would have felt that way too a few years back and emotionally I would still do so, but I have seen a large percentage of couples who start in exactly that way. Id nearly go so far as to say 1/3 do to some degree.

I think it plugs into the notion of unfairness and karma for some. The idea that this will come back to haunt the couple. Yes it may. Mostly because of the personality quirk that may operate like that cant sustain a long termer or if they do it'll be a crap one when the honeymoon ends. BUt objectively I think thats about it.

One of the longest running couples I know started with serious incredibly hurtful and nasty cheating on both sides with ex partners(one of which was a broken woman after it for many years). Of course now they downplay it. not the sort of thing to tell your grandkids. "oh yes your grannie was a cheating bitch and I was a immoral weak manwhore and here we are 50yrs later".

People's memories are short and selective and everyone writes their own legends, agendas and history. Or maybe Im being particularly cynical today :)

BS to me, people control themselves. If I thought I would cheat when drinking I wouldn't drink. During my last relationship, 3 years, there was so many people I turned down flat and my god I didn't want to (: , gf wouldn't have known, she lived across teh country. Just don't think it's fair to do that to somebody, and I should have control over what I do. I'm not saying I couldn't forgive somebody for it, just there is no excuse to do it in my mind.

I'm sure loads of people are in relationships with people they dont love.
Not everyone gets into relationships for the same reasons.

It may be because your lonely, bored, money reasons, sex, for fun, its not always about marriage and spening the rest of your life with the person.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,713 ✭✭✭✭Novella

Would I cheat if no one was ever gonna find out? Nope, that isn't something that'd motivate me to cheat on a partner at all. In fact, I am one of those people who is highly likely to cave under guilt and admit that I've been unfaithful.

I have cheated before, on a serious boyfriend and I did end up telling him. He was upset, obviously but we did continue the relationship. However, a few months later, I ended things with him because it was never the same for me.

I also don't believe that everyone cheats. Maybe I live in some kinda fantasy world but imo, that is BS. It's like saying, "Oh, everyone skydives at some point". No, they don't. I think to cheat, you have to have the personality trait to be able to close off the fact that you are hurting another person and I honestly believe not everyone is capable of that.

As for celebs, Wibbs has that one all summed up.

No. Absolutely no way I could ever cheat. Even if my partner (or anyone) would 100% never find out.

I think it's because my parents broke up because my Dad was having an affair for a few years, and that had on big impact on my childhood or whatever. Plus the whole conscience/karma thing.

And this whole "drunken kiss that just happens" thing is bs! You can still regain some amount of self control when you are hammered drunk.

But sometimes you get drunker than you should or than you intended and drink does alter things. Makes you not really think of the consequences as much, thats my experience of it.

I've never went out with someone for a bit of fun anyway. If I want a bit of fun, I have a FWB. When I go out with someone, it's not really that I think "til death do us part" or whatever, just take each day as it comes, but it does mean that I'm in for more than the fun.

Eeeek,Im not a cold hearted person at all!Im very loving, warm and affectionate, I swear! :) I guess everyone just has differnet opinions on what is a healthy relationships or what constiutes cheating.

My last boyfriend I was head over heels in love with and the opportunity arose once or twice for me to sleep with an aquaintance who I always had great sex with. I was still head over heels for my boyfriend but I enjoyed an hour of two of physical pleasure with someone I was very sexualy attracted too, thats all.

If I was going out with Tar.Aldrion for example then I would not do this as I know he/she would have strong feeligns towards cheating. I would talk openly with my patner about what the boundaries are.
Personally, I have a very liberal approach to relationships and my patners would be aware of this.

Ive never been in a relationship for a bit of fun. Ive had casual flings but I wouldnt have called them my boyfriend.

If its just a bit of fun, its not a relationship. Its casual, its sex, no responsabilities. When you start feeling more and wanting more then its a relationship.

Well if you had previously decided with your boyfriend that it was ok to have sex with other people then it's not really cheating, as it's in the boundaries of the relationship.

Obviously I would hope these weren't ideals that you held and expected your partner to be 100% faithful. Out of curiousity would you discuss your other sexual encounters with your bf who you are in love with?

Well, therefore you shouldn't drink and get really hammered if you are in serious relationship where someone trusts you not to cheat.

    ok a few quesions here

if you were head over heels why did you cheat?

or maybe your boyfriend was ok with it? you guys had consented to an open relationship? if not did you tell him and would you be ok if he did same?

you see i am fascinated with the whole notion of open or "liberal" relationships, they strike me as self-destructive and in my view would only appeal to thoe who fear intimacy, have been seriously badly hurt in the past or are just selfish and want to have their cake and eat it. i don't think these people are suited to relationships, instead i think this behaviour is more suited to flings and one-nighters. nothing wrong with that but let's not dress that up as something it isn't.

A relationship is based on trust, intimacy, love, getting to know and understand another deeply beyond mere casual urges....not just sex and hanging out occassionally

Thats a **** buddy/friend with benefits. Open relationships are great, you can't actually judge what they're like unless you were in one. I prefer open ones, I actually find I sleep with less people when I'm in an open relationship than an exclusive one as the temptation isn't there as much
