I suppose I'd like an answer to the very first question posed by the series - why aren't they all dead?

Their plane breaks up in mid-air and they all crash to earth and survive without any major injuries bar a few photogenic scratches. Wtf?

Dogen put it nicely for me anyway

Jack:Are you from here, the island?
Dogen: I was brought here like everyone else
Jack: What do you mean brought here
Dogen You know exactly what i mean

    Something like that

if it were that simple no one would still be tuned in. A lot more complex than that.

The intro to "the other 48 days" where the tail section hits the water was the first time i thought about this. No way would anyone survive that. Alot did die in the crash i think but the survivors had barely a scratch. Suppose theres more to it than that though, jack and co dissapearing off the ajira plane etc.

Not forgetting that not only did Locke survive crash but he also regained the use of his legs. So the Island has healing powers obviously.

Unfortunately that's probably as close as we'll get to an answer from the Lost writers.

That hardly makes it any more believable that the others survived a plane crash. They *should* all be dead. Of course they probably are.

Those in charge said early on that the purgatory theory wasn't correct. But then again they said a lot of things...............

To be fair the vast majority of people died in the plane crash, but of course they all should be dead, but there would be no tv show otherwise so just have to accept the assumption. How else can you orchestrate a show set on an island with a random collection of people?

How come Hurley was trapped on a Desert Island for quite some time and didn't lose any weight?

How did they survive the crash?

Remember the "What happened Michael?" episode which shows him trying to kill himself and Mr Friendly tells him it won't work because the island isn't done with him yet. That is how people survived the crash. There is no science behind it.
