he used his pick to get Tyson then with his pingu bonus ball number drew Abyss for his roster. Both he and D2D did pretty well considering they coulda got bupkiss from the pingu draw.

^ basically Pingu has dropped out. So rather than losing her roster completely, she has allocated all her picks a random number. When it is your pick in this round, you also pick a number 1-19. This will correspond with her list. If you are lucky, like Vince or D2D, you will get a decent addition to your roster, but there are 6/7 blanks allocated against numbers also. If you choose one of those - tough.

is there any risk involved, apart from the fact i may get nothing from Pingu? do i risk losing my celeb?

in no way do you risk losing your pick thats why i refered to it as a bonus. You could get Sting or Mr Perfect!

No risk, only reward. You make your pick as normal and also ask for a number. Keeping in mind that 5 & 13 have already been picked. The rest have either a name or a blank alongside them.

I believe the Fake Kane is also on pingus roster. She will have to clarify her stance on the Fake Kane subject next time she is online.
