Breaking news on SkySports News. Game to be played in October, probably the same weekend as usual.
No word on the second game yet.

Should be a tight game. The 49ers are on a definate upswing and the Broncos have a very talanted roster.

Registered my interest a few weeks back, will definately be attending one of these games.

The only thing the email says about a second game is:

"Meanwhile, the NFL will continue to explore the possibility of playing a second game in the UK in 2010."

Absolutely delighted and thrilled with this news:D.:D. Should be a sellout considering both teams have relatively decent sized fanbases over here.

You think travelling 8,000 miles for a home game might hurt your season at all, Sea Devils?

I honestly will be shocked if this game is a sellout. I don't know any Bronco's fans over here, and most 49ers fans that I know over here are not really following the game as much as they used to and wouldn't be that keen to travel to a game.

It will to an extent. Hopefully the NFL will do what they did with the Chargers in 08 and schedule an East Coast game before that week. Just looking at our list of opponents next season and we're scheduled to play the Panthers in Carolina so here's hoping the NFL does that.

If you got the" registry of interest confirmation email" it says you will be contacted on how you can purchase Tickets on Ticketmasters website around late January/February. So I'd guess it would be around then.

Why it'll be a sell out: Brian Dawkins, Ryan Clady, Marshall, a new QB starting for Denver?, Patrick Willis, Frank Gore, Michael Crabtree, Aubrayo Franklin

BBC say there'll be an announcement about another game within two weeks.

I'm holding out until then, and deciding which one to go to.

And Vernon Davis 49ers the best TE in the league.:)

Yeah me too, I thought they might try to sell out this one before announcing a second one though. TBH, this isn't all that interesting.

You relly need at least one team capable of making the playoffs.

Both the Broncos and 49ers have that capability and who knows who they will take in the draft or free agency in an uncapped year. By the time Oct 31st rolls around both teams could be on course for the playoffs.

If there's a second game, it'll absolutely have to be Jacksonville. They have sh!te attendances, and the AFC South Plays the NFC East next season - so you can pull in the redskins or Dallas, or even the phillies.

Trust me, any team in the NFC East would sell out Wembley twice.

Edit: haven't checked the Jags home games, but you can rule NY out, so whoever they play at home, i would have my money on.

I'd have to disagree, esp on the 49ers, they are not playoff material

Personally I'm not gonna pay to see Kyle orten throw interceptions...

Give me Brady, Manning, Brees, Romo, McNab, Warner, Rivers, even the likes of ryan or flacco...

Don't see myself going over to this no matter what happens in the draft.

49'ers and Bronco's will both have different QB's next season. it's not ALL about the QB either; for instance, Flacco ain't the reason you enjoy watching the Ravens.

Anyway, back to my previous post, Jags have Redskins and Phillies at home next season. i would suggest either of those games as VERY likely (if there's a second).

    Really?

Ok let me start with the Orton Reference:

You do realise he only threw 12 Ints this year right ? that is is 4 less than Manning, 1 more than Brees, 3 more than Romo, 2 more than McNabb, 2 less than Warner, 3 more than Rivers, 2 less than Ryan and the same as Flacco.

As for the 49ers they are rebuilding and for me are not far off the playoffs. They finished 8-8 on the season and that was only 2 win less than the Cardinals in that division. They also have 2 of the worst teams in the NFL in that Division. If they draft right they will be pushing for the playoffs next season.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 16,297 Mod ✭✭✭✭adrian522

Ok, wasn't expecting you to dig out the stats. I don't see SF winning that division tbh. On Orton, its not about raw stats its more about wanting to see a very exciting QB who can get the pulses rating, someone you can brag to the grankids about.

For example I saw Wayne gretsky at the tail end of his career, didn't play great but he's still one of the best sprots star of all time, Orton doesn't even come near to that category.

If people want to pay up for this then fair enough, I'll certainly wait to see if theres another game announced.

I agree with you about San Fran - they will have a damn good side next year. Davis is one of my favourite players in the league, Crabtree is for real, add a QB to the mix and you've got yourself the makings of an Offense.

But ... Yeah, orton's solid, but i can understand why the kids aren't wetting their pants over him. He won't fcuk up, but he won't bury the other team either. I kinda get why people want the game in London to be a Circus. You get it once a year, so it's almost like an exhibition, so you want 80 yard TD's, and Orton's not that kind of player (Bengals game was a fluke).

Let me say this put both teams together and you have a decent matchup. Look at the previous games in London. None of them were games to truly right home about.

This season, no. i can see SF go 11-5 next season though; I'd worry about Denver.

The Saints Chargers game was pretty good, but I get your point. The thing is, i think the fans are expecting more and more. There's a certain greediness here. I agree with you, Denver V SF three years ago would have sold out in seconds. Elway/Montana etc etc, but now they expect more.

No comments on my guess for the 2nd game? reckon I could be right/wrong?

Well this time last year the patriots and the buccs looked pretty tasty, just tampa went backwards this year...so yes it could be a good game, but as i said I'll be waiting ti see what the other matchup is, if any.

Dallas v Chicago would be a great second game for this side of the pond.:)

There'll be a long wait for the second game I fear, they might open up the ticket sales for this game and keep it going for about a month before announcing another to maximise attendances as best they can.

They just confirmed on Sky Sports during halftime of the Jets v Colts game that there will be no second Wembley game next season.

No harm there in my opinion

Yeah, the statement from the NFL said that these games are a substantial investment and with the economic downturn and some uncertainty in the NFL's future (possible uncapped year and a potential lockout), they don't want to offer 2 Wembley games when they might not be able to sustain it.

I'm torn about going, I'd love to go cos I've been there the past two years and it's been great fun but who knows what kind of game you'd get for this.

Rumours of Tebow going to the 49ers so i'd like to see him........

BUT in Orlando for the 1st week of next season and might hit the jags if they are at home that weekend.

As a Broncos fan of over 20 years, I'm delighted and have already registered my interest for tickets.

I was hoping there'd be a second game so that it'd be easier to get tickets for this. Have the tickets sold out pretty quickly in the previous years? I'm guessing registering your interest means you get to buy them online a day or two before the general public?

Presale begins on Monday morning at 10am(up to 8 tickets per person which I believe is way too many, just encourages touting), got email this morning. If you're flush with cash, the club wembley and hospitality seats go on sale on thursday.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,377 ✭✭✭jasonb

Yep, got the email too. 8 is pretty large, but maybe they're trying to cater for groups of fans travelling together.

Had a look at the Ticketmaster UK website, all they have is a link to last year's game, nothing up about this one yet.

At least I won't have to get up early to get online if the sale doesn't start 'til 10.

If anyone went previously, is there any way when booking the tickets to know which side of the pitch will be the home side or the away side?

Decided I'm going to buy a ticket for the game in Wembley in August. What's the Club Wembley thing all about, in comparison to normal tickets?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,377 ✭✭✭jasonb

    I presume you mean October?

As far as I can see, the Club Wembley tickets are either Endzone or Sideline tickets at the 'Club' level, which is about halfway up, i.e. it's considered not too high and not too low. You also get a 'VIP entrance' and some access to a bar or something like that.

I've no idea if it's worth the money or not, I suppose it depends on whether you can afford it!

I've gone Club Wembley before. Its very good. You have a seperate entrance to the stadium and closer and easier access to toilets/bar. The view is excellent from the seats and the seats themselves are very comfortable.

    Worth the extra €'s.

Home or away side? This is American football, not Association football. All the fans are mixed all around. When you're booking a ticket, you'll just be happy to get a ticket anywhere. There's generally fans of all 32 teams at the match and you'll probably see at least one jersey for every NFL team there.

Whats the Premium level like? (£145)

I figured that, I didn't think it was going to be segregated or anything like that. However, if possible, I'd like to be on the sideline that the Broncos are on, just 'cos I'd prefer that! So I'm trying to find out which sideline the away team is on this year. Maybe it's the same sideline for home / away teams every year? Anyone who's been over the last 3 years, maybe you could let me know? Thanks!

How did people get on getting tickets?

As this was my first ( and probably last ) chance of seeing the Broncos, I decided to bite the bullet & go for the more expensive ones, the lower sidelines for £100.

I was logged on early and at 30 secs past 10 had two tickets. But they were in Block 119, and I really wanted somewhere more central. So I tried the Level 5 Rows 1-20 Tickets, and they were sold out! I went back to Level 1 and they were also sold out.

In the end, I managed to get Level 5 tickets a little more central, the £72.50 ones. Along with the £6.50 booking fee per ticket AND the £17 for FedEx delivery ( the only option! )

In the end I'm glad I have tickets, but hoped for better ones. Wasn't going to pay £100 for ones that much to one side though. And there's no way the central blocks in the lower sidelines went between 10:00:00 and 10:00:30, they're clearly either prebooked or kept for companies / sports agents etc. It's annoying when the 'Best Available' are off in a corner...

Block 125, row 17, pretty much the other end to the field for last years games so are great seats!

There isn't a bad seat in Wembley.

You could have picked up your tickets over there and saved yourself a few quid

They didn't give me that option unless i did something wrong. republic of Ireland was Fed-ex only delivery.
I tried to get tickets for the sideline level 1, but couldn't seem to be able to get 4 in a row, ended up with cheaper endzone tickets. I dont really care, cant wait for it.

No mate you didn't do anything wrong.
Unlike last year the only option available to ROI fans at 10am yesterday was Fedex delivery.
    My two tickets cost stg.£160 plus a whopping £29.70 (18.5%) admin & delivery fees.:mad::mad::mad:

I went back onto the site a few hours later just to check the process out again & the option for box office collection had since been added (stg£2.25).
