    Transition year/fourth year.

I probably will, I dont want to be 17 in collage. And my birthday is the very end of May so I would be 17 for the first year.

My school though theres so many trips and stuff they can only take a limited number so we have interviews for it, so meh I may not be doing it.

We have to do it in our school so yeah. It's not a complete doss (you still have classes, even though they're easy and you don't get h/w in some subjects), but it's still quite fun I just can't wait to get Third Year over and done with!

Exactly what I ws thinking. You still have normal classes but do a load of fun stuff aswell and go to loads of places.I think they used to do 1 day of driving lessons in my school, can't remember if they do them anymore though.

It really depends on your school, some schools seem to do sweet f all for their TYs, while some seem to put a huge effort into their program.

[Mod warning] anyone who posts saying TY is shít/a waste of time dont do it with backing it up in some way will be infracted and have their post deleted......

Driving lessons? Sounds mad! Are they in a centre? I could imagine it in papers TY students go crazy on the street!:pac:

Talking to some of my friends that did TY, they had good craic but wish now they hadn't done it as they could be in college. I'm glad I skipped now, but if your school is good for TY or if all your mates are doing it it'd be a harder choice to make.

In my school we have to do TY. However, I would anyway because otherwise I'd be doing my leaving at 16, college at 17 etc.

Same, I won't be 15 until November. I'd love to get a dance scholarship or do some course but theres none.
If I were you I would do it and try get the scholarship. You might just like the 2nd years (I don't like them in my school either) but it's a relaxing year and you can improve on golf.

and yes I am currently doing and loving it :D

I wouldn't recommend doing it. I Done Forth year and going into fifth my word ethos was completely f_ed. I thought it would be a great laugh but now near the end of 6th year i am badly regretting it. But different strokes for different folks i suppose :D

    Thats true,

When I was in first year we had to try out all the options available in my school which included woodwork.
My teacher told me the only thing I would ever amount to be would be a cleaner so he made me clean, empty bins and just do every crap thing possible :( Failed woodwork at the end of the year too!:(

I'd like to do myself, seeing as about 90% of my year will be but I can't imagine staying in school for another 3 years!

TY is **** in my school. People regret TY when they're in sixth year anyway so there is no point really doing it.

TY is compulsory in my school ATM.

I'm not gonna do it even though its really tempting to have an easy year but I know I'll regret it in 5th year when I could be in 6th year!!

depends on the type of person you are. ty suits some people really well, but others hate it. a lot of people say that you need to be a hard worker to do ty so that you won't be lazy when you go into fifth year. in our school the teachers are all having meetings at the minute debating whether to continue with ty or not. are other schools doing this? ty has been very successful in our school so far.

Ya its compulsary in my school also and if i didnt want to do it i would have to travel half an hour to another school so i pretty much have to do it.
Plus my school puts a good bit of an effort into it with days out and excxhanges and so on so it should be good craic and im young enough for my year as it is without going into leaving cert an extra year early. :D
