I may be a fool here and I admitt not following TNA but how the heck do you expect to sell a PPV with nothing more then Hulk Hogan will be there to your existing audience with less then 7 days before it?

I mean at least some kind of build up / story lines would be expected or am I missing something about TNA here?

Jeremy Borash said this morning during an appearance on the Pain Clinic radio show that TNA is expected to debut a big-name wrestler at the Genesis pay-per-view, which takes place on Jan. 17. He indicated it would be a "big surprise," reports the Pro Wrestling Torch.

    Interesting maybe it will be

    Ken Kennedy

AJ Styles vs. Kurt Angle and Matt Morgan and Hernandez vs. The British Invasion have been announced. This is pretty much a filler PPV as all the build was towards last weeks iMPACT! and the first properly built PPV of the new regime will be Against All Odds.

I wonder what Hogan will be doing on the PPV. I doubt this will get a load of buy's tbh. Like Machismo Fan said, it's basically a filler PPV

How deflating must it be for a great team like MCMG to see Hall & Nash get PPV time while they get nothing again?

Not showing up on Skys EPG for Wednesday on Bravo, are they not showing PPV's any more?

I think TNA are starting to sell streams online for UK/international fans think Machismo Fan told me they are 10.50 sterling or something

What is Scott Hall doing back? Whatever you wanna say about Kevin Nash, he's dedicated alot of time to TNA - but Hall is just an old drunk at this point, and doesn't deserve to be back in TNA.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,235 ✭✭✭✭flahavaj

Could they not have put X Pac in the tag match instead of Hall or Nash? At least he can still work.

Tag Titles have been almost an afterthought lately.

MCMG and Bucks should be given a rematch and given 12 mins in the opener.

The tag title match was the only match that's been advertised for more than a week. I agree with Pac but the question is does Hall and Pac or Nash and Pac have the same appeal as Hall and Nash? I wouldn't really think so.

Surely the "major" signing couldn't be Mr. Kennedy? Id find that extremely disappointing to be honest.

Just found this on one of the news sites lads..

"A statement on TNA's website says that Genesis will air in the UK from 3PM Monday on BT Vision. TNA pay per views normally air on Bravo in the UK, but Genesis is apparently going to break that trend. Plans to stream the PPV on the internet for a moderate fee have seemingly been scrapped."

Wow pretty stupid move by TNA imo, im sure only a small % of UK residents have BT Vision compared to Sky, surely they should have waited until the brand was completely build and slowly started to introduced paying for PPVs in the UK.. Also why do TNA think people would willingly pay to watch a PPV on their computers, when they can just stream it for free..

Wow, stupid move by TNA. I suppose since this is TNA's 1st PPV of 2010 (the Hogan era), they wanted to mix it up but, to me, they've f'd up. I had no problem that Bravo aired the PPV on a Wednesday night, why change it? How are we ment to watch it here without the use of streams???

with the new rule changes on the forum will people be able to link to streams for this tomorrow night??

I'm not sure but I think you can only link streams only in the stream thread. Here's the link: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055796662

Does anybody know where genesis can be viewed in ireland....its not on any of the bravos on wednesday and is been shown to BT vision customers monday 18th at 3p.m......but where can us regular sky customers watch the show?

I realise this is a TNA related question but really need thisn answered and thought it might get viewed more if a thread....please move it if it is deemed undeserving of its own thread

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 22,933 Mod ✭✭✭✭Bounty Hunter

if anyone does have a stream it can always be posted in the streams thread (can always be found in the hot threads sticky)

I will move this though to the Genesis thread.

Say goodbye to the six-sided ring. TNA has a traditional four-sided ring set up in the Impact Zone for tonight's Genesis PPV.

TNA had been using the six-sided ring since debuting at Universal Studios in May 2004 for their first Impact taping.

    It's a sad day.:(:(:(

Have to say I'm happy with the decision to go back to a traditional ring.

Never liked the 6 sided ring.

I thought they were gonna shoot an angle with them breaking up the ring or something?

What negative difference does the ring make? At least it stood out for TNA and gave a company that's always struggled to find it's own identity just that. Hogan is stripping TNA of all things that made TNA. While I don't particularly care what shape the ring is, I hate that it's being changed for no other reason than that Hogan doesn't like it.

I don't like the look of the 6 sided ring and I always taught some wrestlers looked a bit awkward in it compared to wrestling in a traditional ring.

Id say at the start of the pay per view hogan or Bischoff will come out and explain why the ring has changed. I cant see them doing the pay per view as if nothing has changed.

Id love if it was RVD that was the major acquisition tonight instead of Mr Kennedy

Former WWE wrestler Brian Kendrick will make a surprise appearance on tonight's TNA Genesis pay-per-view.

Major signing my ass;). Seriously though, he'll probably be Red's mystery opponent.

Decent addition to the X Division, will add some personality to it. Might even get the belt as Hogan is high on him since the Oz tour AFAIK.

The X-Division does desperately need a revamp. Everyone they have has either been around for years or booked into oblivion.

Kendrick and the Bucks will certainly freshen things up.

They could cut the like of Creed, Eric Young and Kiyoshi and I wouldn't miss them tbh, good workers but nothing that exceptional.

I wouldn't cut Creed or EY. EY's moved out of the X-Division (though he was pretty much never in it), plus he's shown promise with the World Elite and I've always thought Creed comes across as a very likeable fellow. I don't think they ever really gave Kiyoshi a fair chance but I could take him or leave him.

who do you think will be the major signing? everybody seems to think kennedy is a sure thing, I wouldn't be surprised if it was Jim Ross.

I think JR resigned a short extension with WWE recently. Other candidates? Goldberg, RVD, Sid? I think Kennedy is the best bet though.

Terrible idea imo, the 6 sided ring is what made TNA, TNA, now they might aswell just call themselves WCW

There at this point is scheduled to be an angle where the Bobby Lashley vs. Abyss match gets replaced by Abyss vs. Ken Anderson (the surprise who will turn the business around) for tonight's show. Abyss will lay out Lashley.

    From the Observer.

Disappointment all round if it is indeed the case.

i just dont see ken anderson as a major name at all all he had going for him in wwe was his catchpharse to me theres plenty more talented guys on the roster then him

I was surprised that they had Lashley on the card in the first place considering his next fight is in two weeks. It'd suck for Abyss if he were jobbed to Kennedy.

Especially considering he'll be injured in a few weeks.

I've no time for Kennedy, nothing but a catchphrase as someone else said. Prone to more than the odd botch in the ring as well.

Hardly going to "change the business in fairness."

If TNA had really wanted to have a big debut on the PPV they could have held back Flair or someone from the already overcrowded TV show.
