its a nice place to watch the race unfold for a bit alright ;)
whats next ? hoping to get some training in over the next 8 weeks or so. IM is not on the cards this year though - theres little point in spending alot of hard to come by cash travelling when I havent had any time to prepare. Theres a few other things to keep me going before the end of the season but its definitely been a case of play it by ear so far.

    Vague enough ? ;)

Man of mystery I like it!

No, more like the man with enough $$$ or work done to warrant a trip to Italy this Oct ;) mind how you go with that achilles injury btw

    Who's going to Italy?

It's a little better today. This is an old familiar so I know a couple of days rest should sort it but I'm against the clock so it will be touch and go for Saturday.

Sorry - that previous post should have read NOT going to Italy. Id an entry for Elba ... as in Elbaman ... but wont be travelling. A crying shame but no point spending alot of money, brownie points and taking a hiding in the Italian sunshine when I havent done the work.

    1000 ow sans suit.

Not a great week training wise so decided to leave the suit at home. Not so cold but some serious cold patches along the bull wall.

Thats a great run time you pulled out in Tri-Kingdom come, you must be swapping the flippers for the runners a fair bit recently

cheers - another anomaly - just reckon the sun and the beach run suited me on the day and I backed off the bike leg a bit - since Id a spin around the lost sheep route the day before ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,207 ✭✭✭shotgunmcos

Yikes thats a super result interetsed well done. You were just behind one of our top guys. Your swim and run were similar to Mark Nolans  Anomaly indeed, seems like you cruised the swim (or you did it breast stroke or gave them all a headstart ) and ran like a bat outa hell?! Thats a flaking run off the bike!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,793 ✭✭✭Macanri

+1 to the above, fair play. A great run off the bike. So, are you doing the Lost Sheep?

    19/08/10 OW

    750 @ Race 3 of Bray Aquathlon

Slowest / longest 750 swim of the season - definitely down to conditions or course since I felt like I was going well. Solo navigation but rejoined / collided gently ;) with two others on final buoy (we'd caught a large group of ladies for 10 minutes which didnt help) before getting in and on with T1. Time called when leaving the beach was 12.26 - which is either a reflection on the difficulty of the swim last night or that every other 750 swim this year was short.

Yeah - Ive an entry for the lost sheep - and for once I intend to use this (Id to give up an entry for the last couple of years due to an injury and a wedding last year) - but it'll be a day for fun since Ive still no real training of any consistency done to be honest.

The trallee anomaly - another very hard swim to be honest - it started waist high into 3 foot waves that were knocking people about - and finished getting out of similar as the tide moved out. There was a track up and over a large dune and down a steep descent before we hit the timing mat. Id managed a 10 second lead in wave1 (Mark Nolan and the young gun from UL were in later waves) over the eventual 2nd place guy - but decided to get out of wetsuit on beach before the struggle up the dune. I definitely didnt take it handy on the swim but I was forced into pacing the bike. The sunshine and some good running legs at the moment helped me push it on for 5k to finish. Id a descent run last night at the aquathlon (think it was 19.40) with no ill effects so its nice to see some progress of late.

    1000

worst conditions of the summer at the bull wall last night... a similar storm hit courttown this time last during the day of eireman. Id ran an 8k before the swim so didnt bother with the wetsuit. Water temperature was fine but sighting and swimming into the swell was entertaining.

Just catching up on the log now. Congrats on your recent performances. Nice to see the running coming together. I'd love to be going to Kenmare again but decided against it and gave my entry to a mate. Next year!

    1200 f/s warm up
    16 * 50 IM order on 60
    100 easy

    2100

impromptu set of 50's IM order brought some respectability to this - was destined just to swim through 2k to try and shake the cobwebs but goggle strap break and quick repair triggered the IM set. Always nice to change things up and Ive been feeling so sluggish lately that they freshened things up a bit.

    1000 metres f/s

Bull wall at its finest tonight ... jogged down and no need for the wetsuit at this time of year. South easterly wind kicked up the water a bit so a bit up and down but didnt spoil the swim.
