I read that and thought hot nerdy types would prefer C++ to Python, then I remembered what thread this was :(

I disagree. Just the way English people speak just makes most things they say not funny. American accent allows better delivery.

American humour does not understand subtlety or awkwardness. I understands only BIG LOUD humour. British humour is to scalpel as American humor is to Wrecking Ball.

Paul, don't worry, I'm ever so reliable.

Monty Python kicks ass! It's a pity it's rarely on the tv...

My main gripe with Americans is that they don't get sarcasm or irony, both of which are massive parts of Irish and English comedy.

Right this is the second time I've had to write this, so I am not happy.

I hope all of you attacking Monty Python are taking the piss.

To say that the British accent makes humour shít is completely ridiculous. In many of the Python sketches, a main character was a pompous upper-class twit. That wouldn't have worked without a British accent.

'British humour'. By that, I take it you mean subtle and intelligent? As opposed to American comedy, lazy and obvious jokes, pointless slapstick (Monty Python perfected slapstick down to a tee, it was never used unnecessarily and each performer was excellent, still managing to maintain an air of dignity in a way only they could).
Now take Friends as an example of American comedy. In the first few series, the writing was clever and slightly more intelligent. As it progressed, the writing and comedy got lazier, more 'American'. 'American comedy' is, in essence, puerile and childish.

Now I can't pretend all of the Python's sketches were genius; there would quite a few duds. But in between those duds were some gems. The Argument Clinic, Dead Parrot, Spanish Inquisition and Hells Grannies sketches are some of the finest comedy sketches every written.
The group owes it's success to the talents of each individual. Every one of the six is/was, in their own right, a fantastic comedy performer. The group are, without doubt, the most influencial comedy ensemble in history. Hugely successful, and amazingly influencial. They've shaped modern-day comedy as we know it.

Just for the record, you do know who each of the Python's cite as their main influence? Spike Milligan - an Irish citizen. Just sayin'

I stopped reading after that. I never said that, I said the show/film/whatever was terrible. I never said it was because of the accent.. It would take more than an accent to make me watch it.

Sorry, my reply was directed just in general at the posters who'd made negative comments, not quite sure why I quoted yours.

That was the second time I had to write it, I couldn't be arsed faffing around with multiquotes.
