New Year's Eve

What are your plans for New Year's this year?

It's always a bit of a messy night, I think. No one seems to have set plans until the last minute and there's always so much pressure to have an amazing night! (which can result in people being disappointed)

Just to throw it out there, a few of us who post here have a *very rough* plan of heading in to town (Dublin) that night, if anyone would like to join :)

The last time I went out for New Years, when the clock struck midnight, everyone else was paired up and were kissing someone and I was left on my own.

Not too keen to have a repeat of that which is why I often don't go out for New Years.

Having said that, I came back to Dublin today with a view to possibly going out on Thursday night. Will see how it goes.

Think a lot of people dread the thought of that :(

There's always this crazy pressure to find someone to kiss or do all these amazing things ... I usually try to see it as just another night out, so I don't overly hype things in my head!

It's actually really easy to get a kiss on new years! well, I find it so!

Just go up to literally any girl who is standing alone during the countdown and say soemthing like "wanna start the year as you mean to go on?" It worked for me the last 3 years! :) All it will be is a kiss most likely, but still, it's a good way to start the year!! :)

Yeah, I've got a ticket for a concert on New Year's so I can't avoid it and I really would prefer to.

I've NEVER kissed someone at midnight on NYE. But I've a good feeling about thursday.

    Awe. :(

This is one thing that makes me glad I'm not into going out. I've never felt any pressure to have an amazing night or to have someone to kiss at midnight.

I'll be at home with my boyfriend and my parents. We'll have what will be akin to a Christmas dinner and the whole affair will be generally pretty relaxed. Hopefully.

Aww, you aren't going to it alone though, are you?

If I had no one to kiss, I reckon I'd just kiss a mate instead ... Quick peck so you're both happy and not left alone :)

Is there any chance you're dressed as a girl on NYE for the past 3 years as well? :D

I don't think a meaningless kiss with a complete stranger is a good way to start the year but each to their own!

Anyway, yeah, agree with the disappointment aspect of NYE. It's 'cause there's so much hype, "Oooh, where are you going on NYE, what are you wearing?" etc.

Last year, I stayed in with my family and had a great night! We just ate leftover chocolates and watched the countdown on tv. It sounds pretty lame, I guess but if I'm gonna start the year as I mean to go on, then I'd like to start it with the people I love. So cheesy!

God I hate NYE, hate it hate it hate it!

I think last year I stayed in and we played Gears of War 2 co-op, paused at 12, said happy new year, kissed, and started playing again.

Was a great New Year's, GoW2 is a pretty epic game.

Ouhhhh!!! That is one of my new years resolutions.
To be ballsy enough to do Karoke. (me shy)

I have no idea where I am going now. It has all gotten very messy.
I never copped that there was pressure to kiss people.

Don't knock meaningless kisses with strangers.
Every now and then they turn out to be bloody magic. :)

I just hope my NYE is better than last year. Drank more than I've ever drank in my life, and ended up projectile vomiting. Whatever I do, I don't want that happening again!

Yup! one of my best ever Kisses was with a girl as I was leaving a club, she kissed me and it was absolutely glorious, kissingwise we were a PERFECT match, then her friends pulled her away for a Taxi!! No Name, no number, but still, amazing!

Yeah, I am! The mate thing might become dodgey for me as I'm bi! But I like your idea :)

Meh, never really got the New Years Eve kiss thing. Sure i've done it but if at midnight i'm sitting down kissing a whiskey in the pub then so be it. Happy to do so :)

I'm working of course! First in a big hotel for a fancy dancy New Years ball and then in a nightclub (I think). Help.

    Ouch!

I feel the same as you ... Going to be careful about how much I'm drinking. My tolerance is all over the place these days, so I'll take it drink by drink when I'm out and hopefully, stay somewhat sober :)

    Amen bro. (Or sis)

most annoying thing is when the annoying friend pulls them away "We've to go. we have to get home quick"

Aye it does my head in. It's quite often the jealous bitter friend who gets overlooked who likes to be the saboteur in these situations.

I don't need a wingman. I'm rarely in the position to score anyway so it's a bit like wearing a condom when you're only having a w**k

Looking forward to NYE this year :) had a good night last year..pre-drinks in a friends house, then down to the club. Had no one to kiss at midnight but wasn't too bothered...then about an hour and a half later i met my bf!! So this NYE will be exactly one year since we first met :):D

Not looking forward to New Year's this year at all, all my mates have different opinions on what to do and than my bf is going away with his lads for the night :(

You should come out! We'll have fun :) Plus, it means no one has to go through the hassle or stress of last-minute plans!

    Aww!

Why not try arranging plans for you and all your friends yourself? That's what I'm trying to do, so none of us are left stuck at the last minute! :)

Maybe invite them over for pre-drinks, then suggest a bar you like to head to afterwards. At least you'll have tried!

Aww you gotta give the karaoke a shot. Just get twisted drunk and give it a go. Its great fun and alot of places give you a free shot if ya do it. I think you gotta go and do it as soon as 12 o clock comes on thursday and it can be a great way to end the decade

:D Its good fun, I've done it.

I'm flying on New Year's Day so I'm still wondering about NYE. It's frickin ridiculously expensive though. I think house parties are the best for these kinda nights, cheaper too.

I've a few offers but I dunno. I might just be a lame ass and stay in. Last year I was working New Year's Day so didn't go out. Year before that was Sydney and well nothing can really beat that - was with my bf and my mam and dad. :)

I HATE New Year's Eve. Its been years since i've got on a big night out for it. Usually i end up in someone's house just. Few times i've gone to bed before midnight! This year i will be doing absolutely nothing for it-stay in,watch tv and go to bed whenever i get tired(be it before or after midnight makes no difference).

    Friends house Pre-Gaming.
    Black and White Party.
    Masquerade Ball! :D

    Can't wait! :D

Dreading NYE. Its my first one I've had being single in 11 years. I'll be alone, as my friends are all in couples and spending the night with their respective boyfriends. Probably just watch a DVD and pretend its just like any other night.
