So who's gonna be watching new years eve?

Should we be using Lunar/Solar filters?

    No requirement for solar filters.

As for lunar filters this is the same as a full moon viewing.

The eclipse will be very hard to detect as the umbra of the earths shadow only just grazes the edge of the moon. You may be able to detect the shadow at higher power along the right part of the moons disk.

Good luck, but dn't expect the usual show that comes with a full lunar eclipse. We have a year to wait for that.

    Clear skies
    Calchas

P.S. I'm travelling and will miss it any way :)

I strongly doubt that it will be as spectaular as that article tries to make out, but we will see what people report. The clouration of the moon only really happens for full eclipse, which is well worth seeing.

Not visible from my location, but it won't hurt to go out and get 'mooned' on the eve of Twenty-10.

Nice and clear, would prefer moon-free skies to take advantage of the calm conditions though....

Hi Mike, you can't be far from me! I'm at work but have a great view out the window of the moon right now!

Really suprised by this one. Was it not supposed to be an even more partial one tonight? The last one was imperceptible but this one is plain as day so to speak. Bottom right ' corner' :D

Why are RTE directly promoting this private enterprise, astronomy.ie, as if they are the only source of info on this event? You have to navigate around donations following their link.
