I cannot stand shopping, and get nice clothes every so often, but find the process of shopping really irritating! It always puts me in a bad mood!

I do not get why girls love shopping, and have a particular interest in shoes??

    1. It's fun, that's like asking why certain people enjoy reading or ballroom dancing.

    2. Shoes are the one thing that generally stay the same size, no matter how much chocolate you eat

Ask my girlfriend, she's two wardrobes full of shoes. A shoe rack in the hall (that she made herself from wood because I was incapable unwilling to make it). She's now talking about making her own shoes  Shoe fetish isn't a strong enough description...

Reading or ballroom dancing is an enjoyable activity. How can shopping be described as "Fun"? I respect, and thank you for your opinion, but shopping for me anyways is torture!

It's so true, a friend of mine once got a job in the footwear department in Evans ... it was the motivation she needed to join Weightwatchers and lose three stone - fair play to her!

Oh and she got fired from Evans after she lost the first stone.

    Do what lads do....

When you go into a shop look at the first thing you see and say to yourself "sure this will do". Makes the whole process a lot quicker and a whole lot less painful.

The Evans in Liffey Valley always has suspiciously thin women, always thought it was strange... sometimes I go in to to pick up depressed fat chicks

Generalisation. I HATE shopping. I like grocery shopping but not clothes shopping.

And shoes? Well it beats walking the streets in my socks but that's about it.

I am usually less than a minute in a clothes shop! I scan the shop, if I don't see anything I like, I leave in less than a minute. If I see something I like, I usually don't try it on, (because I know my size, and cannot stand Q-ing to go into a fitting room) buy it, and leave. I only have 3 clothes shops I shop in, and do the above shopping procedure! I am usually less than an hour when I need to get clothes, after that my bad mood tells me to leave the shops!

I once bought a bathrobe from evans for a girl as a present without actually realising that it was a fat chick store..something of a faux pas as it turned out

I'm female and I can't stand shopping! As far as I'm concerned it's a necessary evil!! I was in Frankfurt recently with eight shopaholic women and spent most of the time hanging around outside the shops waiting for the women to return...

I just get bored and pick the first thing I think will do.

Thank you Splendor! "Necessary evil" is the best way to describe needing to go clothes shopping! I do not understand how girls can enjoy clothes shopping? What makes it so enjoyable, and what is so fascinating about shoes??!

I find shopping relaxing tbh. I go on my own (Not at Christmas, far too busy) when it's quiet, then get a coffee and read the paper afterwards.

Buying new clothes or even just looking around makes me feel good. People like differnet things OP, why can't you understand that?

By the way, I'm a guy so stereotypes can be wrong ;)

I like shopping too but I dont find it relaxing as I'm not a loon. I like to go shopping off peak and I dont like shopping in the city centre. Give me a shopping centre please.

I like to shop for electronics and hoodies, I dont like shopping for shoes and trousers.

I like the idea of shopping... there's always the hope that i'll do some great purchasing and get some bargains etc, but, it usually goes like this

I get to the first shop, try on some clothes, said clothes don't fit right, go up/down a size, THOSE clothes don't fit right.
This is repeated another 6-7 times until i have a little meltdown.

Worst type of shopping is looking for jeans, jeans are the bane of my life!!!!!!!!!!

I appreciate your opinion! Its just the vast majority of girls (and some lads ;)) love shopping and getting an insight why you like shopping interests me, because I don't like it at all!

It's the opposite way in my family. My Dad loves shopping to the point my Mam has to confiscate his credit card. My Mam hates it. I find it really tiring. It's worse when you're shopping with someone. I have no particular interest in shoes. I like handbags though. :p

Shopping is fine unitl someone comes over and offers me help

For some reason I leg it at that stage

Except for once when i was on the beer from work, in **** clothes and myself and one of the lads went into a shop, walked to the fressing rooms and demanded to be dressed by the ladies present.

Best clothes I ever bought cos I didn't have to use ,my own thick unfashionable head ( I accidently bought flairs the last day! Derves me right for going to jack & jones...'

This just happens to be my 100th post!!! yay me, screw you guys, in your fcuking face!!!

No it's not, reading's an important and useful skill, even ballroom dancing serves a purpose. It's reproduction just in case that wasn't obvious.

I blame women are the downfall of society at large (everything's women's fault if you take reproduction into account, females have always dictated the course of a species) firstly vapid, unrelenting consumerism is completely to blame on women, it didn't exist before the 50s and advertisers realised they should be targeting the person who really ran the home. Next thing you know there's pink sweeping brushes and a million different products to do the same task despite no particular product being any better than the last.

If that wasn't bad enough women decided that children should be in charge of the world. Now every things so easy even a child could use it, do we really need a bulldozer that's so easy a child could use it? No we don't. All advertising is aimed at the child within that should have been strangled and put in a steel box during our childhood years.

The human race has forgotten it's founding principles, keep women in their place or they'll be the ruination of us all.

women are vain. They need all the designers and fashionable clothes they can find so that they can wear it once a year maybe, I mean god forbid someone would actually notice if you wore the same outfit twice right. They do this because it makes them feel happy about themselves, because they think they are nice and lovely, and therfore want to show off. And if someone says the outfit they have on is sh!t, then they immediately have a mental breakdown and feel insecure, and start to thing whether or not to wear the outfit ever again.

Either that or women are just impulsive shoppers who enjoy a nice stroll through the shops.

    please don't kill me women

    Absolute rot!!

My everyday clothes are Jeans and a T-Shirt and sneakers.

    Comfort is where it's at.

Going out at night would be a whole new ball game though.

I would pick clothes to suit me, end of.

    Whatever about shopping....

What is the obsession with shoes? Really? You put them on your feet, some of them look nice. But why exactly do you need 100 pairs of them? And why are they the first thing you drool over when you're out shopping even though they're the very last thing you need?
