Spose this is the other side of the coin to Transform's '09 thread, looking to the future what do you hope to do? Plans, goals, hopes, dreams?

    Myself:

    1. Compete in the single lifts in jan/feb. I've only been lifting 7 months so i'm not gonna blow anyone outta the water but it's experience.

    2. After the single lifts, work on my deadlift big time.

    3. Maybe put some more focus on bodybuilding, which should help some aspects of my powerlifting.

    4. Start into doing cardio/HIIT/Crossfit. Since I stopped rowing my fitness has gone way way downhill, and i need it back!

    What about yerselves?

Qualify as a Personal Trainer, and work on a Cruise Ship for a few months. Then maybe head to America and work as a trainer there for a while.

    Be more badass

    Class.

    1. Move up to 82.3kg for sub wrestling - a leanish 82.3, not just the 76kg me with a belly.

    2. Bench 90kg, Squat 130kg, Deadlift 170kg, and Press 70kg. Man I'm weak.

    3. Get my Blue Belt in BJJ

    4. 100kg Overhead Squat.

    That'll do for now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 806 ✭✭✭Casshern88

    1. Compete in single lifts in jan

    2. In coming year get 150 squat , 200 dead, 120 bench , 100 overhead press.

    3. Get as close as i can to 100kg leanish (90 now)

    4. 20 consecutive pull ups.

A few things some of which include and not going into too much detail.

    1) Switch my recent focus which has been the powerlifts to olympic lifts and compete in an OL comp in 2010. I'm a crossfitter so this will essentially be Crossfit Olympic lifting Bias program :)

    2) Significantly improve crossfit capacity. I don't know what numbers yet but would like what would be considered good times on the benchmark wods. I also want to run a sub 5 minute mile.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 703 ✭✭✭jayoo

    Would like

    130kg max bench, 120kg for 5reps, 100kg for 10reps

    Front Squat 150kg, 120kg for 5 reps, 100kg for 10reps

    Deadlift 230kg max, 200kg for 5, 180kg for 10

Overhead Press 80kg for 5 reps

To look less like a sack of sh1t

Just curious about your goals for your bench - if you could do 120kg for 5 reps, would this surely not translate into a bigger 1RM than 130kg?

I now the heavier you go the smaller the margins are but just curious.

    Clear my debts.
Get down to 115kg by the end of the year, around 135 now I think.
Bench 120, Squat and DL 150. Get in a position where I could compete the year after next without embarrassing myself. Starting on Friday and have a bet with someone I can squat 100 by the end of January. It started at 80 but then he said he thought I meant 10 reps. :pac:
So yeah, want to really tear into the weights training and get some weight off, I've reached one tipping point with regards to my weight and health and would really rather not reach the Diabetes one.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,853 ✭✭✭ragg

I wish i could say I had a detailed plan like you guys but I don't.
Every other year i had detailed goals, that fell by the way side immediately. This year I started out 2009 at 13.5stone and i was resigned to the fact i was going to be a fat-ass for ever. Somewhere along the way I bought neil mct's book and decided I would give it a try. I'm now in or around 10,5 stone and fit as a fiddle.

I know I want uber abs for beach time and I might try and add some mass - but once i keep getting fitter and stronger and fitter and stronger and fitter and stronger...... I will be happy -

The only thing I'm certain of, is that i will continue to take good advice off of the good people i have dealt with this year :pac:

    Bring on 2010 :D

    1. Get up to around 110 kgs. I really i want to hit the 240 lb mark.
    2. Get my body fat back down to 6%.
    3. Hit 200 kgs on deadlifts, 150 kgs on the bench press, 200 on squats. All 5x5.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 703 ✭✭✭jayoo

110kg at 6% bodyfat, that would be some animal:eek:

-keep my knee rehab going and get back to sport.

    -do a triathlon

-do a long cycle race (Wicklow 200 or something)

-Break 100kg for reps on the bench, get my squat and deadlift back to anything respectable at all.

-improve my hamstring and lower back flexibility.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,640 ✭✭✭podge57

Its all about the numbers for me

Squat 245kg (would like to get 225-230 by the nationals in march)
Bench 140kg (long way to go)
    Deadlift 270kg

Weight-wise, I would like to get up to 110kg in the next few months, cut a bit of fat over the summer, and then work back up.
Also want to maintain a good level of fitness, once smolov is over, Ill get running regualrly again

would also like to beat the junior raw squat record @ 110kg in march, just for the fact that its currently held by Irelands Strongest Man

lots really, if i get half of them i will be happy:

    bench 120kg
    squat 160kg
    deadlift 190kg
    press 80kg
do more cardio as have been really lax about it in the past 6 months
get out and take more photos
    write a best seller :D
    stay injury free
maybe and just maybe give a comp a go for the experience (need to up my game first for that though)
    eh..that'll do for now..

    Snatch 100Kg, Clean & Jerk 120Kg

Currently 80Kg/100Kg, will retest before the year's out.

Snatch technique needs to be tidied up to do this, C&J feels like it's mainly a strength thing, but I'm sure there's technique in there too.

This, but without injury or sickness.

Start training consistently after starting in the last 3-6 months with 1-3 day a week training weeks.

    Up bench from currently 65kg x 5 to 90kg+ x 5
    Press from 37.5kg x 5 to 60kg+ x 5
    Deadlift from 115kg x 5 to 150kg+ x 5
    Squat from 80kg x 5 to 120kg+ x 5

Pull ups from 1ish to 8

Improve overall body shape from 72kg (13 - 14% body fat) with a big gut to 80kg 10 -11% body fat.

Don't think any of these goals are unreasonable if I put the effort in and should hopefully be able to go beyond them.

Fairly random in fairness though. Main goal is just get stronger, eat better. Be consistent.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,256 ✭✭✭Molly

I'd like to make some size gains, particularly around the upper body. Currently around 152lbs, hoping to make steady gains through 2010. From a strength point of view there's a lot of things I would like to be able to do but I'm too new to put down goals that are tough to achieve without being impossible. The following are achievable but I think I can improve further so these are going to be my first set of goals for 2010.

    290lb Squat (46lb increase)
    175lb Bench (41lb increase)
    290lb Deadlift (46lb increase)
    135lb Military Press (31lb increase)
