hes playing consistent golf today, everything is muck. I thought playing with scheffler would work to his advantage but the opposite is the case.mighr not break 80 ,this will sting.

Wonder who or what he will blame and moan about this time.

A real shame. I worried when I saw that interview from yesterday. He was too wound up. His big problem is losing the head after a couple of bad shots. He could learn a lot from his playing partner today, Scheffler. And his ability to keep the head and bounce back after a bad shot or hole.

Birdie putt on 15th yesterday was his sliding doors moment

Terrible day for Shane. But I’m sure that his mate Rory completing the grand slam will take the sting out of it for him.

I hope Shane can put in a solid performance next week,as I worry that a day like today can have lasting negative effect.Make no mistake Shane played like an amateur today in front of the biggest watching golf audience with Scheffler out scored him by 12 shots,2nd worse score of day ,recent posts have suggested Shane looked more composed this year, well today certainly challenges that theory.Great credit to him after that round to celebrate with Rory, that cant have been easy.

Dropped to 15 in World rankings which is a pity

I actually don't think it'd have been at all difficult for him to be ready to celebrate with Rory. Once his own chances were gone i reckon nothing would have lifted him more than seeing his best buddy finally get the green jacket. That seems clear from when they met up straight after the 18th. Also, a bonus for Shane is that there won't be all this excessive focus on Rory every year from now on.

What happened Sunday? Did he lose interest once he wasn't going to win?

God help him playing with Spieth.. most self absorbed selfish golfer around...

Dont think it should be , all other sports are able to evolve, change rules around pace and behaviour.

I think rules will have to change and will.

The Masters was a low point...

But they choose not to so until they do it’s all part of the game. PGA Tour are afraid of the faces on tour so until that attitude changes it’ll remain.

They've the added fear of players flouncing to LIV. So nothing will be done.

Yeah, it's super stupid, most of the top guys don't want to be there, Rory wasn't going to play whether he won or not last week

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,892 ✭✭✭coillcam

TV and sponsors etc dictate the dates but it's a bit soon I agree. Rory on holiday until he togs out with Shane to defend their title.

On the phone so I'm not going to try to multi quote. Some criticism of Shane here after he had a bit of a meltdown. I was hooked to tv feed and just saw him tumble down the leaderboard so I don't know how it played. His track record at the Masters has some good results tbh

I still think he has made progress in his game and can look forward to the year ahead. How many times do you see a quality player just lose it when the time comes. Golf is tough and there are few Tigers in the history of the game. Body language can be very aggressive and frustrated when things compound. Perhaps he can take a leaf out of Rory's book in terms of resilience and learn to bounce back when a wobble occurs.

Cant wait to see Shane and Rory at Portrush

Just saw his hissy fit interview there from last Saturday at the Masters . If your going to go down that road fair enough , but your going to have to back it up going forward . Coming out at shooting 81 the next day , Shane needs to seriously reflect .

Shane likes to finish with a bogey or two.

Good par save by Shane on the 17th just now.

Nice to see Shane steady the ship after a 6 on the 2nd. Another 67 tomorrow should see him finish in the top 10.

be great if he cud finish top 5 or even top 10 to wash away the memory of his last final round ,set him up for strong defence of title with Rory.
