    Par golf all the way

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,511 ✭✭✭dublin49

good golf to almost certainly make d cut,got at least 4 putts for par over 10 feet ,unusual for him but was badly needed,a very disciplined round and will do his confidence alot of good after last week's travails.

Shane -1 for last 2 rounds is fantastic effort, must be top 5 for that, considering his finish last week this is a big comeback and huge for his confidence.

Great round today but a slow start again

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,511 ✭✭✭dublin49

True,he needs to bring his 2nd round in at 8 under for the day at least, and more importantly follow up with a decent sub par round in rd 3.His problem is he is ying and yang ,needs more level scoring sub par ,on any day he can go toe to toe with any player ,needs to extend that beyond one or two rounds.

Did he play on after the lightning warning? Any penalty if he did?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,327 ✭✭✭Trampas

Bad 3 putt on the first

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,511 ✭✭✭dublin49

Jaysus, going nicely ,2 under for day and 3 putts from 19 feet for double

A common thing unfortunately when he gets that close

Rallied well for a top ten and trousered 520,000 bucks.

Hopefully he can hold this level of form for The Open.

yes in fairness the wheels could have come off after Double ,but he battled well for top 10 finish, good signs, hope he doesnt go off during 3 week break.

    I am guessing Shane's schedule now will be the Open,Olympics,Fedex events,British Masters ???,Irish Open,BMW,Dunhill,Abu Dhabi,DP World .

Any changes or additions to above?

Is he not playing the Scottish Open?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,511 ✭✭✭dublin49

no mention of him on DP site and the 3 weeks off would take him up to Open so suspect not

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,327 ✭✭✭Trampas

Strange decision not to play again until the open. Time will tell if correct decision or not

Regardless of easier evening conditions bogey free golf around that course is super stuff, great start to hopefully a great weekend

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 380 ✭✭Scrabbel

What a great start! Only Justin Rose so far has also gone around bogey free. Hopefully when the odd bogey or two arrive tomorrow it won't stall his momentum.

Big thing for Shane is that he knows how to win in this type of weather and course

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,905 ✭✭✭coillcam

Looked at ease and holed some big putts when needed. If that flat stick remains cooperative he's got a huge chance.

Brilliant from Shane. Hopefully he gets the best of the conditions when he goes out in the morning

Lets just hope he doesn't have one of those bad days.

He practiced at Royal Troon instead of playing the Scottish Open, looks like it was a really smart decision.

Great round by Lowry, if he can keep his putter in-check for the next 3 days, he's in with a serious chance. He lives for this type of golf, using natural talent to shape and manoeuvre the ball at different flights. He's one of the best around at it.
