I suspect he might not stay on T7th, but he will be in the top 10 which is bloody brilliant!

And prize money is up this year. All depends on how many share the tie now.

Poor fella will have to pay most of it in tax anyway :)

When it comes to showing live play, Sky have very little power over who they can show. Now they should show him a lot more in Europe than they did last year, but I can't blame them here. Shane would be relatively unknown in the states.

Anyone have an idea how this will impact his ranking?

It has to improve it a bit. Decent field.

Shane seemed to drive very well today. Just watching some guys now, spraying their drives around, and it's costing them. That was a great round from Shane.

Not sure, abff might be around to let us know as he's the expert.

@VC606 is worth a follow on twitter, bit of a rankings guru. He was saying that 41-60 in the world are extremely close, so this should give Shane some breathing room.

I'm not sure about the ranking points for this event, they are probably lower than an average PGA event. No Rory and more of the Top 50 playing on the European Tour this weekend than normal. So I don't think there'll be a big jump for him. But that's just a guess.

That is a superb week for shane. Really tough course to start his year off and he couldn't have asked for much better. Really bodes well for his year.

He's been s bit of a slow starter in the past so this bodes well

Talk of a move to 41 or 42 in rankings if things stay as they are. That would be a move of about 2 or 3 places.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,075 ✭✭✭✭vienne86

Well his tied 7th is now confirmed. Tied with three others.

Horizon Sports (on Twitter) forecasting it will put him inside the top 40.

Latest from a rankings guy I follow on Twitter says win puts Lowry #40. Hopefully it's true, great achievement. You'd have to think there's still quite a lot more in him too.

Nice payday - ESPN says he got $189,788 for T7 which equates to roughly €168K.

The encouraging thing is that he's steadily improving at a consistent pace, has been for a couple of years now. No reason to believe he won't continue. Great to have someone to cheer for at the Masters!
