Have you driven the 1.5 Lancer?

Try it and you will be suprised, its not fast but I had to laugh when you said its not as much fun as a diesel, maybe not a 170bhp diesel, but a 1.6tdci or the like :D They are no fun at all, little bit of power at low revs and nothing, the new Lancer handles great and its a revvy little engine and has a nice engine note for a 1.5.Looks super as well, one of the nicest things on the road and you wont have any problems with it.If your not stuck for cash, keep it OP.

Imo the people that are buying a Lancer are not looking for a revy engine they are looking for a relaxing drive that a diesel will give with it been more torquey. I have no interest in reving a 1.5 petrol lancer thats what kids do. If you want power go and buy a proper petrol car otherwise buy a diesel that you can drive in comfort. As for the way it handles, no normal person is going to be pushing a car like a lancer or focus to where its handling is going to be an issue. The majority of people are not going to give a damn what the engine note on a lancer sounds like. You are attracted to a lancer as you think it has some of the attributes of cars which are in a different class. You are looking for a performance car for lancer money. Go buy a performance impreza and cough up the dosh.

As another poster said, the new Lancer is a fine looking car!

Engine is too small for me but they look very nice. The last couple of models were not nice looking at all though.

As regards sales I'd say they are doing okay. A lot more of them around than say the new Civic saloon (albeit that comes with a 1.8L engine so sales in Ireland were never going to be high).

Wasn't it called the Colt Car Company at one stage in the UK?

The colt car company is the registered trading name for Mitsubishi UK.

    Haha!

    Ten years out date, jesus:rolleyes:

New lancer is a great car, one of the best saloon's around, its easily up there with the new Corrola's, Civic's, Focus's, etc.It even has a decent diesel now and with a few cosmetic change's it has lane clearing power and with Mitsu reliability :o.

    What more do you want?

Colt is suppose to be great as well, like fryup has said.

Why do you think like that EPM?

Mitsu have turned a corner imo! Not back to mid 90's yet, but they are going places after a few bad years.

The Diesel engine in the lancer is a fantastic engine, plenty of get up and go, very smooth and quiet too...

how wouldnt they have a comeback.. theyd have a comeback the same as if they boiught it at a dealers as the warranty is still on it..

A dealer is an actual business, if something goes wrong you've got somewhere to go back to.

If you buy from a private seller the warranty could be invalidated or even non-existent.
At the end of the day the car could be ringed.
Unfortunately plenty of people have been stung in such ways.
They buy the car for cash and the seller disappears.

The older colts are still a great car if you can pick one up that hasnt been used and abused. IMO A much nicer shape then the newer ones and you can get either 1.3, 1.5 or 1.6 versions

Its a lot of money to spend on a private sale, but unless the vehicle has been in a serious accident the warranty will be ok. When trying to sell make sure you let people know any checks are welcome, a trained eye will know if the vehicle has been damaged in such a way that it would have a negative effect on certain parts or the warranty. If someone is in doubt I'm sure they'd contact Mitsubishi.
