Would anyone here have any idea how much old Kerry Co-Op shares are worth at the moment? A friend of mine might be selling some soon and I would be interested in buying them
    Thanks

They were worth around €2.25 each last spring. They are impossible to sell now as there is no interest in them.

About 90 euro i heard. Would you not be better waiting as there is a vote on share conversion later in the year when 25% of the shares convert to plc shares(possibly with a cash sweetener) if the vote is carried. The last conversion was over 7 plc shares (now at 29 euro) for 1 co-op share iirc so you may be better off waiting

When would they announce that shares were going to be converted. Do you think it be in the next few weeks or would it be more likely next year. If i thought they would convrt them then i would wait. Do you know say we have 250 old shares. Can you split these or would you be better of keeping them all together. They are between me and my ssiter, she wants to sell but im not so sure.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12 scrowley

I would suspect that the trading in the shares will be suspended tomorrow so you won't be able to trade them anyway.then this proposal will have to be voted on by the suppliers. If they vote for it I would guess that the conversion would happen in maybe sept oct. After that u will be allowed to trade the old shares again

If u like u can ring me on my mobile after tomorrow. I will prob know the score 0872689942

With 250 shares, 62 would be converted giving (at a 7 to 1 conversion) 434 plc shares and 188 co-op shares. Splitting or keeping the 250 together will make no difference as only 25% will be converted. If the % rumoured is correct AND the two votes needed are carried in favour.

There is a bit of resistance building to the conversion from younger farmers but older farmers are more in favour so i would expect a bit of a cash sweetener as well, similar to the last conversion

What is the current "going price" for Old Kerry Cooperative Shares...grateful for any available info on this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 244 ✭✭tomo75

They are being listed on the Aertel page at ~é33. How are they valued at ~é70??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4 St. Finan

    Tomo75 and all: Greetings.

As I understand it, Kerry Group PLC shares are traded/ available for purchase on the "open" (stock) market...that would be their current exchange price...a portion of the Old K. Coop. shares were converted to these "Group PLC" shares in the stock split a while back...that left the largest portion of Old Shares (not converted in the split) off the open stock trade market, but still of value, certainly of greater value per share than PLC, still accumlating dividends, and subject to another conversion in the future (some years off?)...after the conversion/ split, these shares now may only be sold/transfered privately, from one private buyer to another...hence the "floating" value...I guess they did go for Euro 70 and up last year...

    Who knows the current score?

Old Kerry shares traded for the February meeting at 70 euro and that's when plc shares were 26.now they are 33.50. I have alot of shares going in thd paper this week. Will be interesting

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4 St. Finan

Thats (now) 33.5 for PLC...70 last month for old shares...have I got that right? What do you think old shares could be worth now?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12 scrowley

I was just making the point that the last of them traded at 70 when the price of the plc were 26 in February. I'm not sure if it will affect the price for the next meeting. I have a good few to sell so I'll know how it's going in a few days. I would think it will affect the price. Was going to put them in the paper today for this week. Will try to get it in tommorow. It might be next week now.

Just wondering what Kerry shareholders are doing with the PLC shares now, with the plc shares up at 35 euro its tempting to sell some or do other shareholders think they'll go higher.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,438 ✭✭✭5live

Most are sitting on them. Some are selling to pay off bad tiger investments and others to buy land. Land round here is going for 12k an acre so it will take a lot of shares to buy a few acres. But most will sit on them and use them to fund retirement or smooth the farm transfer with children not getting the land

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12 scrowley

Shares have traded for around 82 at the last meeting. Have demand at that money for the next transfer

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55 ✭✭ciotog8

Has anyone got any idea on the value of Kerry Co op shares as I may be looking to sell

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12 scrowley

Shares at the last meeting traded at 83. Have purchasers at the moment at 82,83.

There good value at that price with the PLC shares heading for the 40 euro , any sign of them exchanging a few more of them

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12 scrowley

Well that's what they made last transfer. We'll know in a few days if the increase in plc is reflected in the old shares for the next transfer

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55 ✭✭ciotog8

I know you can get around 80 for Kerry co op shares but I have seen an ad where people are asking for 100. Would be good if you can wait to see if there is another conversion. I think there are some meetings coming up soon

why sell shares in a company which promises to deliver strong growth going forward ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 213 ✭✭tommylimerick

their divident is poor at about 1 %
and i doubt they will go up any more
a lot of farmers might only have shares in kerry
and these farmers are exposed enough to food prices
so at least selling the plc shares might make a lot of sense

kerry plc shares are up more than 40% in the past eighteen months , they may not go up anymore this year and may in fact pull back but the company has very strong growth potential going forward , as for the company being exposed to food price fluctuation , so is mc donalds but for different reasons , over time strong companies should see an increased share price , they say people should stick to what they know so i think it makes sense for any dairy farmer in ireland to have a decent sized share portfolio of kerry and glanbia , if you milk eighty cows but cannot afford ( for various reasons ) to go to 150 , another way of profiting from dairying is to be invested in the likes of kerry and glanbia

id wait for a pullback to buy though

Last I heard about 1 month ago - €75-€125 depending on quantity - smaller quantities making bigger money.

There are discussions within the advisory and board groups as to what is the best way to go forward.

There is a fair level of support for a conversion to below 10%, especially after the last 2 years of poor weather.

Also, it's quite surprising to see support for a conversion from individuals who i wouldn't have thought would be in support of it.

NAMA related in a few cases, i believe:(

it would be great if they liqudated all the old coop shares this year for plc shares i wonder if they did how many plc shares would we get for 1 coop share when all this is done

that wont happen any time soon what would the board of the co op do than , The co op shares must be fairly valuable not at this stage with the price of plc shares.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,434 ✭✭✭fepper

well the advisory board members wont want to vote themselves out anyway with all the holidays etc and are powerless anyway
but this structure will have to be changed and a new company will have to be set up for all milk suppliers and kerry coop ltd to be finally wound down and past and present suppliers be rewarded in full

Highly unlikely - with the new board structure plus the recent conversion will mean a cooling on the conversion - co-op shares don't seem to trading as widely at present. But if this bad weather continues then this could change.

Whats yer thoughts on a conversion again this year or next year. Whens the meeting coming up?
