    Actually, seeing as how we're on the topic of all this IT stuff, how come the cit student mail is run by google, and we have that crappy student mail system. Is it really that expensive to run.

    I remember one of the guys that was running for SU president wanted to have the email system switched over to Gmail. The only thing i can think of is that its easier for the college to have its own system and that they can jink with when they want to change stuff.And how would you control what people put as their email addresses etc?.

    When you see a large organisation/educational institution using gmail as they're mail system, its not the gmail you might think. You can buy the gmail software to use within a company/university. By doing so you control what the addresses look like.

    eg you could buy it and have the email me@mybiglad.com

    UCC Societies Guild uses gmail software for society email accounts

    I just got the announcement about the next Boole room being refitted. Anyone know if they will be throwing out more PCs, and if I could get one?

    I'm pretty sure it happened already. I got word of a free for all yesterday.

    To be honest, your probably not gonna get one unless you're staff or a friend of staff as this stuff isn't publicly announced

    Was actually going to post about this. The ones on Q+3 were being updated as I was leaving. You know the ones that were small? Just as you're entering the glass area. They're being updated, looking good.
