When short skirts are a little TOO short...

I have to say I've noticed a huge increase in shorter-than-the-60's minis prancing about any Irish town/city lately.

Now I'm all for if you've got it, flaunt it. What makes me wince when I see the really short skirts, especially without tights, is that imo it looks degrading. There is nothing classy and sexy about showing even a peep of cold fake-tanned goose-pimpled arse cheek.
It makes me sad for the girls wearing them, because I know what they are going for, what they think they look like in their heads. Motives aside, everyone dresses up at a basic level to look nice, and sexy. It's such a shame to go to all that effort (and kidney infections!:p) and have so many people see you, wince and think "Put it away love".
But it's in fashion, thank Lady Gaga et al., for that and shoulderpads

  • I dunno why people are acting like this doesn't happen in Dublin. I moved to Dublin from the North and the girls dressed much more skimpily. All the foreigners in Dublin comment on how little the girls wear, even on freezing winter nights. I just think it looks silly and usually not flattering.

It's the peer pressure I think. That because everyone else is wearing a belt, that you'll have to wear one too or you won't have a chance of getting a man. Or that you will (heaven forbid) look different.

    It's all about Perogative.

Besides, the culture in British Cities with regards how girls dress is VERY different to how Irish girls do.

    ****stirring comment.

Even if you do consider the north to be part of the UK, it's still not British.

    Learn some political-geography for yourself.

I was walking up a staircase in Dandelion last night and looked up only to catch an eye-full of some girl's knickers. They were black. Too short.

Doesn't mean you are available though.

I'm a foreigner and only live in Ireland part of the year. I have noticed that the skirts in Ireland are a bit shorter than what I'm used to seeing at home. But they are absolute BURQUAS in comparison to what I saw while visiting some of the industrial cities in the UK (Liverpool, Doncaster, etc)

Oh. MY. God. I've done a fair amount of world travel and have never been so shoked at what the locals wear. The clothing that I saw middle aged women wearing there at night would only be seen on hookers here. I mean that 100% literally.

A before you say it...No, I was not jealous, REALLY, I wasn't. In not all, but most of the cases the outfits didn't suit the shape of the women wearing them. A local told me it was part of the whole "ladette culture," and that it was empowering to the women. Frankly they look more sad than empowered.

there's a late bar in bray that has a glass walkway. i hate going there purely because you see absolute low life scum standing below the walkway, just to get a glimpse.

it's a pity because the music is good in the bar which is rare for bray.

I totally agree. Never get why people suggest you might be jealous. I'm a size 10 and I wear a lot of miniskirts but never felt the need to show off my arse cheeks. I have a very short one but I wear it with opaque 100 denier tights and boots, would never dream of going bare legged in it, even on holidays. It just looks tacky and indecent, IMO. I fail to see what could possibly be empowering about showing far too much (and a lot of the people who do it do not have good figures) and standing around freezing to death in the cold.

If you dont shave then its not too cold. I was wearing shorts around today and my fuzzy pins were still lovely and toasty.

Head a brilliant expression.... A skirt is too short when it makes your knickers look long... That about sums it up i think.

I was out last night and there was this girl who was wearing a skin tight, way too short white skirt, you could clearly see the cheeks of her arse peeking out under it, all night long guys were leering at her and grabbing her on the dance floor, she was loving the attention tho so i guess she got the desired effect, her boyfriend didnt look too happy, cant say i'd blame him

It's a bit unreal at this stage how short dresses/skirts are becoming. I'm a 15 year-old lad so the shorter the better tbh. But, I was in the underage Time disco in Naas on Wednesday night and you could see most girls arses, these were girls aged 13(probably some 12) to 17, how they are let out of the house looking like that by their parents is nothing short of astonishing. Especially the ones with legs better suited for a snooker table. Young ones from Kildare/Dublin/Wicklow are bitches as well compared to Laois/Offaly/Westmeath.:P
