For me it's three movies, not one - the John Hughes / Molly Ringwald trilogy: Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, Pretty In Pink.

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

Goonies, Monster Squad and i don't know if Van Wilder counts but it should. Funny a** film.

one of the better movies of that bunch. Loved some of the gags in it - the slow clapper and the token black guy were brillant. "Damn, this sh!t is whack!"

This John Hughes trilogy can't be beaten: The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Weird Science.

Also I love Empire Records.. can recite it line-for-line. Great fun film with a great soundtrack. I'll never forget the closing scene of them dancing to "This Is The Day" by The The:

The Monster Squad is great.. but has aged extremely badly as watched it about 3 months back.

The Goonies is timeless.. but I wouldn't call it a teen movie for some reason.

Dazed and Confused is fantastic too!

Big fan of "Step Up" and "Save The Last Dance", another one i'd recomend is "Whirly Girl".

Back in the day - Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Breakfast Club

From the last 10 years or so - Rushmore, Mean Girls, Election

What would you consider a 'teen' movie? Any film depicting teenagers or a film aimed solely at that age-group?

I'd never consider the likes of Rushmore or Election as being teen movies but they are two of my favourite films.

I would lump Mean Girls into the 'teen' category though. And Cruel Intentions would have to be up there amongst my favourites too.

    Mean Girls is great..

And there's one reason why - the screenplay was written by 30 Rock's Tina Fey.

The Breakfast Club and Pretty In Pink have to be two of the best teen movies ever, they're just brilliant, never get sick of watching them!

And from recent years i have to agree with the consensus and go with Mean Girls :D I heart it.

    Teen movie?

Supposed it's aimed at teens given it's juvenile humour.. but it's not a teen movie.
