Reason why this Firearm is Required?

I have two shotguns still covered by the extension till june next year. 1 is a sporter i use for clays. The other is a game gun but its too heavy. I was going to trade it on a 20 bore but i found a 20 bore for a steal so have bought it while keeping my other two guns.

Right! I have to apply for the 20 bore licence now and what will i say for section 4.2 Reason why this Firearm is Required?
Will I say its for hunting etc. Will i get a 3rd licence? The super might say no based on the fact I already have 2 shotguns.

    Any thoughts?

Just say what you will be using it for
if you have to think about it or ask a public fourm what to say you have to ask yourself do i really need a 20 bore or just want one cause its going cheap?

Apply for it. I cannot see why you would be refused. Simply state the reason for wanting it (hunting) and submit your application. No reason why he wouldn't grant you it. May be a slightly different story if you were going for a third 12g but as its a 20g i really can't see a problem.

Worse case scenario is he asks you to give up one of the others but thats a big maybe.

I have been looking at 20 bores and definitely want it for game shooting as i prefer their lighter weight and slimmer fore stock. I need my clay gun as well. My other shotgun is worth 900 euro. The 20 bore i'm buying is 250 euro so there was no way i could trade my own gun on it as i would be losing 650 euro. I didn't think there would be a problem asking all this on a public forum.

If I could get rid of my other gun I would, its not easy selling privately.

then put that on the application, that you will be using it for game that is, you should have no problem.

A good reason for owning a 20 gauge is that it is lighter, and the recoil is significantly less, allowing for extended periods of clays shooting etc.

Just state on the form exactly what you want the gun for...you stated in your 1st post what you needed the gun for just be honest in the application and you shouldnt have a problem.I have a semi-auto for ducks and vermin and a o/u for game shooting i tried a 682 gold e beretta o/u in a clay ground and loved it so bought one,so i put the exact reason i wanted down on the app form on a seperate a4 page and just recieved confirmation they were granted no bother:)
