Single or Loved Up this Christmas - Which are you?

Hey all, so going through a good few threads in TLL at the moment, I've noticed that there is a huge percentage of regulars all loved up these days. Which prompts me to think that only a few of us will be on our tobler owners this festive season, enduring a lot of smug looks from coupled up friends and family.

Is this the norm for you all or are you about to spend your first xmas in a long time on your own? What's all of your situations?

Personally I am single and sick of it this Christmas, but I'm not bitter :(

I'm single, but even if I was in a couple I'd be with my family at Christmas - so it makes no difference to me! I wouldn't say I'll be spending Christmas away from home until I get married, if I ever do!

Wheres the option for "single and generally Meh" :) Actually Chrimbo in those times when I was loved up were always good. Usually involved a trip overseas, so I do miss that I must say.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Where's the option for being single and 'meh' about it?

Will spend it with family, may work a bit too over the holidays. I also echo nervous wreck's comments, get drunk, watch a few movies and listen to wham.

    snap Wibbs! :)

+1. Was going to put single and fine with it but "single and generally Meh" is much better! Am single, not loving it, not hating it.

Being loved up did make previous Christmases extra special and sparkley for me, as I recall. But, this year, like every other Christmas, I will be with my family and dog, which is great. I particularly enjoy the drunken haze that descends upon us!

Myself and all my close friends are single (tis a crime! :D) so we're gonna have a crappy christmas jumper party and have hot ports, sing songs and be merry!

(trying to get into the Christmas spirit this year as it's not my favourite time of the year).

Anyone got any single blues beating activities to suggest?

Anyone got plans with single friends? Loving the ugly jumper party idea by the way!

Mackleton - surround yourself with loved ones? or alcohol? Or better yet, both :D

Very recently single (my doing just to let you know!) Kinda looking forward to it...kinda not... Looking forward to going out with my single friends and getting hammered:p...not looking forward to thinking back to my non single christmases and getting depressed :(

Christmas day is actually the only one that'll be crap for me. I'll be working pretty heavily up to the 23rd, I have a long-standing tradition with a friend that I spend Christmas Eve with her, Christmas day I'll get drunk with my family and then back to work on Stephens' Day. Being single won't really affect me much, it's just nice to have someone to swap presents with on the holidays....

Single but excited because this is the first year my little one really understands the whole Christmas thing, and Santa, so it should be fun and a friend is coming over to visit from the US, so should be a nice one.

Well I've just been dumped, after 4 and a half years together. So I'll be single and hating every second of it :(

i always just spend the first half of christmas day with the family, and the second half with two of my best friends drinking ridiculous amounts and playing stupid games, this year its my turn of the rota so the festivities will be held at mine, but my family will be there too, karaoke and beatles rock band is on the agenda, actually cant wait:D

True that! I'm loved up but I used to love Christmas being single too. Christmas parties are the business, take advantage of Christmas work parties, even if it's not your own, guaranteed drunken hotties to play with everywhere :D

:( Never a nice time to be dumped but especially around now has to be even worse. Surround yourself with family and friends and people that will make you feel better. Hope you're okay, I know it sucks :(

:( Ahh jayzuz lass. I'm not gonna do my usual longwinded reply as you would rightfully hunt me down and kill me:) But FWIW hugs. Not easy. Not after all that time.

Winters banned for a week. Not funny and not in the spirit and you should well know better. Hence the ban. If you have an issue with that take it to helpdesk

I'm going back to Ireland to spend Christmas with the family in Connemara. Haven't seen them in months so am fair looking forward to it now.

I'll go on the record and say that if I'm not single at Christmas I'll donate 50 quid to the first charity someone names on this thread.

Hope I can find some vitamins to get me through Christmas so I don't end up eating the whole time.

well that charity can be the Santa Strike Force :D or directly to crumlin childrens hospital (please)

    or any cancer charity.

oh...and as for the thread ...."single and meh" suits me - thinking of spending christmas alone...did it 2yrs ago - loved the peace and quiet and time to reflect on my life and all that.... normally go home and visit the family - or go and do some work.

I have got enough going on in my life without throwing someone else into it, to be honest. Nobody in it at the moment interests me enough.

I'll die of shock if I'm not single at christmas. Loving life as it is at the mo, thanks very much!

good because without hope we all up **** creek with a rickety paddle (rickety paddle imo is worse than no paddle).

such a great song despite its depressing subject.

what a depressing thread. im single and had never once thought "oh noes! ill be single at christmas!!", am i supposed to? and to be honest if your friends are looking at you smugly then you probably need new friends.

Ive never needed a bf to enjoy christmas. in fact i probably enjoy it more without one cause its the 1 time of year that everyone is around and free to do stuff. ive just come out of a disaster of an attempt at a relationship, but the thought of christmas cheers me up and gives me something to look forward to, not depresses me. or it didnt until i read this thread anyway

yes being single can be crap & lonely, but if youre gonna look at it that way then youre gonna make it even crapper.
