he set it off so that the emp would knock out electronics over the battlefield
Ah, it was an EMP, of course. I thought it was a nuke detonated high in the atmosphere....which didn't really make sense heh.

But why did he set off the EMP? What difference did it make if it effected both sides? And when they went to the sub base to set it off noone knew that's what Price was going to do, they were all surprised. So what reason did he give them for going to the sub base?...

Was also annoyed you never found out why Price was in that prison. They could have tied in a thing where he goes after the guy who put in there, could have been a nice side story.

Suppose the Americans would of thought that they would have the upper hand fight a ground war with no choppers or planes involved. But this is only a game so...

Thats exactly what happened, EMP caused by a nuke detonating high in the atmosphere.

At the end of COD4 I think he was taken off in a helicopter; presumably to a Russian military hospital. Assuming the regime change happened quickly following the events in the game it makes sense that he was "disappeared".

Good game, really enjoyed the set pieces.

I didn't think the plot was quite as good as the last one though. It's pretty entertaining, but I'd have preferred if it was just slightly more plausible.

The execution of the game is amazing though, looks great, feels great to play; set pieces really work.
The russian invasion of the USA was pretty implausible. We are supposed to believe that because the russians captured the ACS, the USA couldn't see them coming - but that's very implausible, its a lot of Russian planes coming across the Atlantic for no one to notice; and that Washington DC and the entire East Coast of the USA would be taken without nuclear exchange is silly.

I also didn't fully understand Price's motivations in firing a nuke against Washington; even if he was using it as an EMP.
What was the point? If he was trying to drum up support for an American counter strike, wouldn't that make him not much better than Shepard - as that's essentially what Shepard was trying to do?
If his plan was to stop the Russian forces in USA by producing an EMP, then surely the existing American forces could have thought of that themselves.

Still, overall, really enjoyed it, some great sequences - very well put together game.
Wish it was longer though :-)

well yeah it was a nuke, they give off a massive emp when they go off so exploding it where he did would take out electronics in the area, levelling the playing field somewhat whereas before that the russians had the upper hand

too bad for the astronauts though eh?

i thought in the cutscene they implied that there were reports coming in about it though, but they werent taken too seriously because they didnt show up on the system

He explained the logic of the nuke as putting out a fire by making a bigger one. Setting of the nuke completely stalled the Russian invasion, yes it knocked out american vehicles too, but the americans had pretty much lost all of their vehicles by this point in the war anyway.

Where did Price launch that nuke at btw?

I missed that bit as I think I was in the toilet during cutscene lols

I enjoyed the story i know its far fetched but sometimes thats good fun too. I felt the game was a bit short as with COD4. It is pretty epic stuff but i always feel a bit short changed after playing them.
