These threads are pretty popular on other forums...

The basic idea is that you put up a pic of yourself along with some generic info. But since this is A/R/T it has to be a race/tri pic.

I suppose I'll have to start...

    AMCD1241.jpeg

Your truly, totally shattered after Amsterdam. I'm not going to bother with any waffle about myself - everyone knows how awesome I am :P

One rule - you can only post with a photo :D

    Great idea....

Here I am at the halfway point in the run in The Lost Sheep this year. It was my first Half Ironman and I don't think I will ever forget the pain of those last 2 miles. No smart comments about the shades...I get enough of those! :D

Now I'm all undecided about which picture to post of me.

Should I post "that" picture? Or maybe I should just stick with one of me actually running?

Sorry guys, seeing as pgibbo mentioned shades I decided to go for one with my eyes covered. That other picture can make people go blind allegedly. :D

Only reason I'm actually posting this atrocity is because I have both feet off the ground. :D

Great thread. I know a good few of you already but ...........I imagined --amadeus-- to be older and a bit like Sam the Eagle and Slogger to be more like Fred Flintstone.

This is me at the start of the Bandon 5 last December, centre with hat and Cru singlet.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,096 ✭✭✭--amadeus--

Older? Sam The Eagle?? I thought everyone thought of me as a slightly faster but much younger version of George Clooney...

And I have to say that SJs photo makes me feel positively muscle bound! Mrs SJ needs to get some potatoes in you!

And as for the airshots - I see your airshots and raise you an airshot with grimace!

I was hungover, hence the glasses on a cloudy day ... ahem.. Pic 1 is me bored and plodding along around half way, Pic 2 was me deciding to full on sprint the last 200m and Pic 3 finishing looking like I meant business (when I spent 95% of the race looking around) ... hangover cured :D

A question, How do you embed a pic onto a post like previous samples from Bally8?

Dublin 09. The ones of me nearer to the finish don't show my better side (neither does this, but there you go!!!)

    [ IMG ] <url to photo> [ /IMG ]

But without the spaces between the [ and ].

Also the likes of Flickr, if that is where the photo is, like you to include links back to their site, but that can be for the next lesson.

You can always click on the quote button of someones post and then you'll see what code they used to display the pictures, then just hit back once you've figured it out without posting.

Hi Robin, would I be correct in saying that you can only do it with a pic from a webpage, not one that is on you own desktop/machine?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 452 ✭✭Domer

Just click on the paperclip in the message window, and browse to the image. i did it that way and it was easier... no offense Robin, I'm not a techie!

Oh yeah, there is actually shortcut button to do it for you when you make a post. Hover over the icons until you find the "Insert Image" one, you can only do that for pictures that are already uploaded online somewhere though.

I tend to type these thing manually and keep missing the "easy" ways of doing it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 55 ✭✭CaoimheX

I have found pics on marathonfoto but embedding them into a post here may infringe copyright as it has the © symbol on them.

Im not annette Kealy or pauline culey:). Im the one with his name on the T-shirt. Not a vanity trip or anything, I was doing the marathon for concern and they sent me out a T-shirt that had my name on it. I wasnt gonna wear it because of the name thing but I didnt want to offend anybody in concern so I wore it in the end.
This was at about 22miles gone and those two ladies were having an almighty battle, it was great stuff.
