    Ehm.....
    1) the guys in the main event
2)the guy you said was effin terrible/disappointing
    3) the guy you claim tapped because he was tired
    4) the guy who you claim faked being hit in the groin

    Other than that:rolleyes:

Not sure what your issue is here. There are disappointing fights on every card and every show. Doesn't mean any disrespect to the fighters or takes anything away from their efforts. People go to these shows to be entertained and this was just my opinion. I have no affiliation with any of the clubs involved and was there last night as an "arm chair" fan, just to see some good action.

I said the main event was a good close fight and some great standup from both guys, but wasn't the "spectacle" that I was expecting from the main event of the evening.

Karl Bruins was terrible! No two ways about it. In both rounds, he got taken down, and was held there with Dave Sloan battering his legs. Only defense he tried to mount were upkicks, and when they didn't work, what did he do? Some more upkicks.

I didn't see a sub in the fight between Adam Kemp and Bogusz. He was getting battered the whole of the first round, then in the second round, he got hit with a hard takedown, then tapped. I really thought it was because he couldn't go on anymore, perhaps I was wrong.

Also, I'm almost positive that Pauric Henry wasn't struck on the groin. Want to see what the TV shows, but as far as I could see, he wasn't enjoying the leg strikes he was taking, then took a very hard knee into the abdomen which downed him, and he couldn't get back up. I didn't say he was faking being injured, but it certainly didn't look like he was hit in the groin.

Also agree with some of Martin's criticisms above. The show was too long. Me and my friends arrived around half 7 and weren't leaving until half past 12, and as stated, people started to get bored and leave before the main event. This should never be the case at a show.

There should have been 8-10 fights on the card last night, and if Clan Wars really wants to move forward as a serious contender on the Irish MMA scene, they should probably drop D class fights altogether.

And agree with the stewards being on the ball when it came to sorting out the scuffle after Mark Gibson's fight. Martin, I wasn't actually looking at Mervyn. I noticed the guys in the corner being overly rowdy a bit before, and saw them react very angrily when Mervyn won and did his backflip, then the girl threw the glass. I can't comment on wait Mervyn may have done to entice them. Even then, it's no excuse for how they all reacted in my opinion. Just glad it was sorted with little fuss.

On a side note, did anyone else notice in Mervyn's fight that Aidan couldn't see Mark tapping, but Mervyn started celebrating (knocking off Aidan's cam in the process) and Aidan kind of just went along with the decision. The end to it was all a bit odd.

All this said, the production values were excellent and the show was very professionally run - looking forward to seeing how it turns out on the TV.

everyone has their own opinions on things but its down to the promotion what they want to do.

I couldnt agree with you more Paul. I never try to tell promotions how to function. At the end of the day when i judge or ref on a show the promoter is my boss. I just give my opinion as i see things. I understand your partnership with ISKA as we have had quite a few discussions on the subject. If you think its the right thing for you to do crack on dude. Dont miss that i said there were both GOOD and BAD points. Like all shows. My own included.

The show got held up with fighters stuck in traffic and also the last minute managing that needed to be done when the doctor that was supposed to do the event got called to a trauma accident and couldnt make the show, as you can imagine at 5pm this was pannick stations!! Luckily Wacky agreed last minute to do doctor coverage, all these things add time to the events.

The number of fights is a tricky one, I feel 12 fights is about right but any of the shows will tell you that with the number of injuries before the event your card can quickly diminish so its better to have too many as too few. I personally feel people will think 8 fights is too few.

We appreciate what peoples views on the amateur do or not debates but we support amateurs, I mentioned earlier about were and how we started, we are doing this for the fighters from beginners to the more expereinced, we wont turn our backs on where we started. There is a very healthy amateur circuit in the UK at many of the big shows.

    Cheers

Hi IFS, I completely understand about the number of fights. I was involved in promoting a few shows in England a lot of years back, and I know you can start off with 12 fights and end up with five. It's very tough to get the balance just so, and I understand the amount of work that has to go into everything. It was just an observation that last nights show was too long, but I appreciate it was out of your control, as all you can do is try to plan ahead as best you can. Though, I think if you are having D Class fights on the card, you have to almost expect them to go to the distance, and factor this in.

I completely support your stance on promoting grass roots MMA and giving the younger pups a chance, and it's all with great intentions, but for bums on seats and entertainment value, people go to see banging and knockouts, and in my experience, quickly get bored of D class fights. It may be worth limiting D class to 2 (maybe 3) fights per card, or maybe have some sort of "prelims" section? I don't know mate, I would never do promotion again, I'm just throwing out some ideas. No disrespect meant to you or anyone else in this thread!
