    Damn straight!

See that San Miguel is the new sponsor this year... tad better than Estrella Damm.

Checked out flights there, think I'll book my return trip soon as they tend to go up in price faster than the mid-week flights.

Budgeting the whole thing, easily doable for €500 or less. All really depends on the amount of drinking as the alcohol on the festival site is quite pricey.

The pixies are the second band confirmed for next years primavera, nice:)

That's awesome, I gave Pixies a break after seeing them a fair few times when they reformed but I'm sure they'll go down a treat outdoors in Barcelona.

    Pavement and Pixies, wow.

Booked flights earlier, going on the Wednesday, returning Monday. :)

Doing the same days, great prices with aer lingus at the moment. Judging by who made it through to the last round of voting, the line up will be pretty good

The word on the grapevine is that Panda Bear and Ganglians will be confirmed very soon. !!

Also, just might as well say now - I'm more than likely going to the festival solo, so if any fellow music fanatic wants to meet up and get some accomodation, get in touch...early days yet anyway

I'm probably not going next year, went in 07 and 09, it's time for a change. Will probably hit Sonar though, so not that much of a change really! Primavera's a great festival though, you'll have an awesome time :D

agreed. the line-up looks a lot more eclectic, last year there was a lot of bands ploughing a similar, noisy, feedback-drenched furrow...but the range of styles on offer for next year looks great. also, bear in mind they're still doing that 10th year anniversary vote so there will almost certainly be more heavy-hitters announced. i cannot wait

So I bought my ticket using the only option available to me, paypal, (ticketmaster wouldn't take my passport details) last monday and have yet to receive any ticket details. Anyone do the same?

Ticket prices go up by €30 on January 1st, should be some more bands announced soon enough

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,834 ✭✭✭Toast

That's a massive jump. In the past it has been a 10 euro incremental rise every couple of months. Glad I got my tickets in already but now to convince others to sort themselves out in the next day :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,585 ✭✭✭honru

Wow yeah, that's quite a hike. I think tickets were kept at the early bird price until the middle of January for last year and already it has gone up quite a bit. Then again, they have announced more acts earlier this time.

Hey, does anyone have a link for decent accommodation reasonably close to the venue? Hostels or apartments. Cheers!

Any one been too this festival, i am planning to go just wanted to know if its in one central spot like oxygen also i cant make sense if i have to queue for tickets there for one stage on the day.....

    HELP!!!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,585 ✭✭✭honru

The festival is held in an enclosed area in the Parc del Forum, if that's what you were asking. You will have to leave the grounds to enter one of the stages, the Auditori hall. It's just to the right outside the main entrance. There's also a range of side events which take place in various venues around the city during the week of the festival.

I dunno what you mean by your next query.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 272 ✭✭hannable80

whats the story with that stage are the larger bands on that one?
Where is best to get tickets does the one ticket do for all the areas... Whats the vibe like is it messy or more like the picnic?

It's a proper auditorium. It has bands playing only on two of the days and it opens and closes much earlier than the other stages, like between 3pm and 10pm or something. It generally caters for more mellow acoustic-type music, classical, jazz, etc.

It does get big acts, both Portishead and My Bloody Valentine have played in there, as well as playing a "main" set on one of the outdoor stages, in previous years.

I found Paypal to be the easiest. On arrival you pick up your tickets at the festival entrance. Check out the official site for all that info.

One full festival ticket does all the areas, though some of the performances by the larger bands at the aforementioned Auditori require that you prebook a seat. This costs something like €2 a ticket.

Definitely more like EP (if we're comparing it to either that or Oxegen). :)

Since there's no camping, I found it a good bit more mellow than either of those festivals.

    Newly announced acts:

    Grizzly Bear
    Built to Spill
    Tortoise
    Condo Fucks
    Seefeel
    Beak>
    Major Lazer
    Monotonix
    Ben Frost
    Mujeres
    Apse
    Thee Oh Sees
    Black Math Horseman
    Sian Alice Group
    Fake Blood

Have wanted to see Grizzly Bear (only saw about 10 minutes of them at Pukkelpop). Besides Built to Spill, Tortoise, Apse, and Fake Blood, haven't heard music by the others. What's the story with Condo Fucks, are they basically Yo La Tengo under a different alias?

Pretty much. Exact same line up. Just a bit punkier, I think. I wonder is there any chance of them playing a Yo La Tengo set as well?

40 acts to be announced on Wednesday. which should be more or less the full line-up. cannot wait

I heard Faith No More were rumoured to play, has some merit as they didn't play Spain on their reunion tour last year. Would be an awesome addition.

There are still more acts to be announced, though that's the main bulk confirmed. I remember last year Neil Young was added after the main announcement even though he was the headliner.

Line up looking very nice, will have to begin checking out some of the unfamiliar acts soon.

EDIT: Jane's Addiction appear on one of the posters for the event, might be a later addition.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 772 ✭✭✭X-Calibre

That line up is actually incredible..

I now have to go and make some phone calls and see will anyone go with me

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 415 ✭✭shampoosuicide

more bands announced on Friday. no headliners though.

day-by-day breakdown, not all bands are on this yet: http://www.primaverasound.com/ps.php?seccion=cartel&sub=dias&idioma=en

I've never been to Primavera and am thinking of joining some friends who are going this year but they've already booked accomodation. Can anyone suggest somewhere good for attending the festival?

The best suggestion might persuade me to book tickets.

Also - does anyone know how strict they are with cameras? I was at Benicassim a few years ago and loads of people had prof cameras and no issues, I figure the Spanish are more relaxed - is it the same at Primavera?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,834 ✭✭✭Toast

Heard mixed reports from cameras. Some people get them in.. some are made put them in the cloakroom. I think it really depends on how big the bag is.

I've always stayed in an apartment with friends so can't really advise on the accommodation. Possibly see if anyone is looking for someone to make up numbers for an apartment. EP forum, Primavera sound forum and the Drowned in Sound forum would be possible places to ask?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,585 ✭✭✭honru

Doesn't look like there will be any more acts to be added, all the slots look like they've been filled, after comparing the amount with last year's lineup (think the Saturday last year had less acts with Neil Young playing). Also the breakdown of the ATP stage by day, order and times are usually announced early-to-mid May:

    Thursday
    Apse
    The Books
    Circulatory System
    Seefeel
    Tortoise
    Ui

    Friday
    Beak>
    Beach House
    Black Math Horsemen
    Scout Niblett
    Shellac

    Saturday
    Built to Spill
    Ben Frost
    Liquid Liquid
    Polvo
    The Psychic Paramount
    Rother/Shelley/Mullan
    Sian Alice Group

You should check out this place, it's where I'm staying, seems pretty good, quite cheap as well, just nothing too fancy!

Anyone know if Pixies are doing a regular set at Primavera, or one of the Doolittle ones? According to Setlist.fm, they've been doing Doolittle ones as recently as the end of March, but the Primavera line-up doesn't it.
