Just heard today that the F/O in Roxboro Gda Stn In Limerick wants to meet and talk to everyone in his jurisdiction before he issues their licences. Surely this is illegal.?

    Why would it be illegal?
It is his job to make these checks.

Why? Maybe he is going to issue free licences :D. Relax yourself, go see what he/she has to say. He is within his rights to request to see you. If he wants to speak of personal matters you can request he does so in private and not in front of a group.

    Don't always assume the worst.

I handed my application forms in in middle of September to Roxboro Station. I met the FO there and then and we had a meeting in one of the rooms for about 1/2 an hour or so going over the forms and discussing the state of play of the licencing procedures. As far as he was concerned that was that - everything was in order and it was going to be put on the system that day and go up to the boss that afternoon. To-date tho, I haven't got a letter of receipt for any of the 3 of them.

That conversation that he wants might only be with those that handed in their forms over the counter to the garda behind the glass and not to him directly.

    Here's hoping! :D

I sent handed mine in about three weeks ago and they rang me thursday wanting to inspect my storage, landed out on friday morn and checked all the guns, serial numbers, calibres, photographed each one, then checked all the safes, took down the manufacturers name, photographed each one and took shots of the bolts that are securing it, took down the name of my alarm, and cctv system, i have a separate safe out in the shed for ammo, checked it and questioned the alarm setup out there, wanted to see and photograph any silencers i had ticked the box for,he told me every firearm in the district was getting this treatment as the super wants to make sure his area has everything up to standard for the new system, personally im delighted they were here and saw the effort and the money i have put into securing them,
Be intresting to see how many others have got this treatment
