I'm using a Hawke Endurance 20-60X60. I paid €189 for it a year or so ago. Its well able to see the bullet holes clearly at 600yds. Haven't used it for any longer distance so cannot tell what its like. Although at the 600 its "up close and personal" so i reckon it'll do 800 good enough. As for 1000+ will not give an opinion on something i cannot state for definite. Its a cheap enough scope and also comes in 23-70X70 and compared to makes like Swarovski with 20-60X60/70 (€1300 - €1500) it beats them hands down for price with little or no compromise on quality.

Don't know if it suits but its a start.

I've had good personal experiences with Opticron, and the scopes by Kowa are excellent quality. You will find plenty of information about both on t'internet.

To agree somewhat with the previous poster, Hawke scopes are very good quality for the money.

I'd say the difference in quality between, for example, a Hawke and a more expensive scope would be more noticeable if the light was poor, perhaps damp conditions or in very cold weather.

In good conditions, the extra quality isn't quite so obvious.

I use a leupold windriver 15- 45 x and find it great , I gave around 350 dollars for it 5 years ago and it has never missed a beat . bullet holes are well visible at 600 . You will see them on gun mart , york or south yorkshire have them , I think the model name may have changed but its the same scope . leupold have a dearer one but its around a grand sterling . its a fantastic piece of kit if you have the money . Other than that a friend recently bought a swarovski fixed 30 and its clarity is fantastic but the money was savage . kowa are fantastic. nikon make some good stuff , some of the pentax ones are good . it comes down to what you have to spend . for around the 300 sterling mark the leupold takes beating

Recently I bought a 30-90 X90 by Sutter in Germany. Cost €112 including shipping. Really Pleased with it. Used it at 200 yds in last Saturday's really bad weather, and on an all black target could see the holes no problem.
