Is There Just Something About Vampires?

Hey ladies, I have been perusing the male form appreciation thread and contributed myself, and noticed a hefty amount of vampire flesh on show. My question is silly (but then it's Friday:p) is there just something innately sexy about vampires in general or is it just the latest collection of True Blood/ Twilight / Vampire Diaries guys that are causing all this commotion? Thoughts?

I think its more forbidden love, its so wrong but its so right that makes it hot.... Angel from Buffy, Edward from Twilight, Bill from Ture Blood - we do love our obstacles! Not to mention all the actors who play them are soooo hot! :D

Yes, Vampires simply are usually seen as sexy or Beautiful, unless they are of the ruling class of Vampires in which case they will always be 2000 years old and ugly as sin.

My thoughts*: Put a handsome guy on the street and a girl will think "Ooh, he's handsome." Put a handsome guy in a film and a girl will think "ZOMG he is SOOOO hot, I mean LOOK at him. Jesus, what I wouldn't DO to jump his bones!!!" Vampire movies/tv shows are "in" now so that's the current fad. But half these guys aren't nearly as attractive as they're made out. (Yer man from Twilight is downright ugly, imo).

*All of this is true for men and attractive womens btw. Hot girl on the street isn't nearly as hot as the same girl in a magazine. People.

For me, the absolute pinnacle of Vampire yummyness is Alexander Skarsgard AKA Eric Northman from True Blood, 6 ft plus of long lean Scandinavian sexiness, not to mention that adorable accent! mmmm

To be honest I've never gotten the whole Rob Pattinson thing, a fairly average looking guy in most pics I've seen, but the werewolf from New Moon, good lord, that guy should be made illegal!

I think vampires had always had a certain sexyness to them, a guy coming into your bedroom window and nibbling on your neck!

Oddly I went to find the old vampire film (one with the weird hair) and typed in "vampire film" into google pics and there was more than I expected lesbain vampires so I'm guessing it's not just for women.

i totally agree with you, yet in that film he is a bit dishy! :D although tbh i have always like vampires, before all this twilight and whatever else those new ones are called fads.
    I mean hello, gary oldman..

gary oldman is "nom" because he's manly.

    manly suit.
    manly glasses
    manly waistcoast
    manly top hat.

does edward have any of these? lol nope.

Damn right, Edward is crap. It's all about his sisters and any of the Vampires in Angel. (Including David Boreanez, he is a proper man, not some Boy like Edward Cullen.)

I read the first one and I've never despised a fictional character so much. He's just... awful. I can't see why so many people are so attracted to him.

I'm so sick of all this Twilight nonsense and vampires and Team Jacob and wanting Rob Pattinson so bad and wanting him to "bite" them. Who cares, it's not like vampires are even real. They are in fact the brainchild of Irish author Bram Stoker, and you could guess that half of the Twilight population out there have never even heard of him. And if they have, they probably haven't even read Dracula. And they call themselves "fans". Pffftttt, what a load of b*****ks.

Stoker didnt create vampires.Dracula just popularised them to an extent and gave some of the rules

Read any "proper" vampire related literature, such as Bram Stoker and Sheridan Le Fanu's works. Its all about sex. Penetration, virgins, menstruation, rebirth, sin etc etc. This is common knowledge.

Lol This thread is hardly touching on a revealation! The fact that Vampires are in vogue with teenagers at the moment has resulted in a huge amount of trash (like twilight) being peddled out to satisfy demand. Looking at John C Reillys latest farcical Vampire cashi-in Im not surprised people are struggling to recognise the deeper meaning to the genre.

Hmmm OK why would they be attractive to the ladies..

    Dracula;

    Cool name? Check

    Exotic? Check.

Older man. 400 years older, but still looking good. Check.

Social position power and money? He's a Carpathian prince for feck sake. The guy doesn't just have staff. He's got villagers, bands of gypsies and the creatures of the night. Nuff said. Check.

Protective? Strength of ten men. Check.

    Hypnotic eyes. Oh yes. Check.

Mysterious, misunderstood and only the woman he loves could understand him? Check.

Can make you stay young forever? Check.

Kinky? Oh yes. Neck nibbling, swooning and animalistic hows yer father, no viagra required. Check.

    Natty dresser? Check

    I mean c'mon I'd have him! :D

PS Plus up against the recent pretty boy goth rejects, they're going down.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

vamps have been round for many years true ? not true?

But looking at them they hold the image of very beautifull people. in books in the 1800s they where pailed skined because back then pail skin was attractive and tanned being common for peasents....
They go for the neck on your artury which is also a horogenous zone.... sharp teeth
well some people like a bit of biting ina slap and tickle session :D..

so in truth erotiic nature of a vamp be it female or male has a lot of grounding...

tho if i had my choice id rather be a wear wolf :D

    sorry

    a wear monkey

Predatorial bad boys. Hits something archetypal with women and shadow fantasy.

Vampires these days are mostly soppy, sensitive and fiercely protective of their human lovers. But they are also bad asses who could kick anyone's ass. I may be wrong, but this is the ultimate male for most women, no?

I never liked vampires until I started watching 'True Blood'.
    That programme is SEXY.
The chemistry between the two main characters is amazing, which definitely helps create a big part of the appeal.

People associate the '80s with vampires but they're so wrong - it was the werewolf decade.
